So you have tried a separate powered USB hub? Because what you posted does not seem to indicate that.

Well, either the cable or the Galaxy S6's USB interface has gone south from the sound of it. Have you tried plugging the phone into a different computer to see what happens? Would rule out your PC in general.
 
When I transfer files to my Android devices, generally I just find it easier to run an app that can open an FTP server or similar to transfer files, or use something like FX File Explorer that can connect directly to PC's via SMB to transfer the other way around.

Have you tried using a powered USB hub? This can happen if you don't have enough voltage in the circuit.

You could try something like Google Drive, puush, One drive ect, yet that is  annoying to do. 

so this one time I was hanging out with my friend who is the manager at a tech shop by where I live and a girl comes in and buys a 2tb hard drive. we let her know that we install hard drives for $1 (the cost of the sata cable we use) and she says "just because I am a woman does not mean I cant work on computers" and leaves in a huff. two days later she comes back in saying that the HDD is not working so we take the computer in to look at it, we open it and the HDD is nowhere to be seen, so we ask her where it is. and it turns out that she scanned it and put the scanned image on her desktop to install the drive. and to top that off she threw away the drive she paid almost $200 for and she wanted us to give her a new one.

Finally watched the whole video and he mention he's doing this because Apple refused to issue a refund for some reason (which might be illegal depending on the exact details) ... Talk about over-reaction!
 

hmm experiences with non techies?
well i helped my grandmother find a new laptop for her. When we got the new computer home to her i helped her setting it up and showed her the most important stuff. Later that week she ,called me and told me to "come fix the cup holder" on her computer and then hang up. I figured she was just confused or something considering that she is 76. So i walked to her, when i came in and she showed me her computer, it turned out that she had been using her cd drive for a cup holder for her coffee, she had then managed to spill the coffee over the laptop.
long story short, don't buy your grandmother a computer with a cd drive, it can end badly.

Sorry for the caps guys , but I have natural technical abilities.    I have been into computers most of my life,  my first Computer was A commodore 16, later moved on to an MSDOS machine.   I am good with upgrading, repair, etc but every tech job I have ever been its always been   "You don't have any experience, we can't hire you."       My end goal is to be a software developer,  I love the challenge of programming.  Any advice would be more than appreciated .  Thanks,
