RAM error on Z68
Thatguywiththetoasterpc replied to Andrew279cz's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
You probably toasted your board mate, next time don't remove it from the socket. It's a unnecessary step if you're just swapping cases. -
Hey guys this is my second post of this topic since the first one didn't get any replies. My (mostly) new PC keeps hanging up in games for a split second while having a distorted audio buzz. I've tried everything, checked for stability on CPU, GPU and memory both stock and OC settings, I have reinstalled Nvidia drivers (both sound and audio ones) I haven't reinstalled windows yet because I have important stuff moved over to this PC and don't want it lost in the process. I have never had anything like this before. And it's driving me nuts. It happens on games that hardly use any resources, and even once on the desktop screen. Please if anyone knows what's going tell me, I'm OCD so this is hell to me... Benchmarks used for tests Memtest 86 and Windows Memory Diagnostic (two passes both OC and non OC on memory) Prime95 with Furmark at the same time for 30 minutes. No errors found in P95, or any crashes in Furmark. Specs: 1060 (reused from last build that died) Ryzen 2600 DDR4 Corsair 2400mhz memory OC at 2700mhz at 1.25v (can't remember exact number) MSI pro b350m MoBo 2x HDD's in Raid 0 1x 128gb SSD Edit: oh and the PSU is a 1000w EVGA platinum so I think that's working just fine. Help me ?

Is a i7 actually needed for gaming?
Thatguywiththetoasterpc replied to Tcrumpen's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Too be honest sure you can get away with it for awhile longer. But you're probably already having sacrifice little things like AA(depending on the type) or render distance in skyrim or even lighting and shadows. So I'd probably upgrade when you get the chance but you don't have to race to it. Fortunately the consoles help make sure games don't get more graphically intense each year as to keep them running smoothly... -
Hello agian people, I got yet another werid one. Recently I upgraded from my old FX toaster due to the system dying.(likely VRM failure from oc)And I upgraded to a ryzen CPU so I basically had to replace half my build, only keeping my high quality PSU, Case, and my GPU. I've been enjoying it for the most part but I've had a couple issues I can't quite pin down the cause. I first had an Issue when I found out my GPU wouldn't hold stable at it's previous OC(Crashing and doing the same hanging up as described above), at first I thought it might of been a micro bottleneck from the FX chip that made it appear stable. So I lowered it some and everything was fine for awhile, until it did it while I was downloading and installing some games. Which the GPU wouldn't be doing much on. So my current thought is maybe my ram since it is the only thing being utilized heavily besides my HHDs. (My OS is on a new SSD so It shouldn't be affected unless the SSD itself is bad) But the reason I'm currently thinking itself the ram is because I have the sticks set at the speeds/timings of the next teir up. But I ran 8 passes of windows memory test and one pass of memtest86 and didn't get a single error. So I'm kinda confused by this so if anyone has had a similar issue and knows what's up please let me know. And as always thanks for taking the time to help. Oh and heat isin't a issue my temps stay pretty low. My Specs: Msi b350m Ryzen 5 2600 Evga gtx 1050 Ti Corsair Vengeance lpx 2444mhz(oc to 2777mhz) Evga 1000w T2 90plus rated

how do you delid an i7 7700k?
Thatguywiththetoasterpc replied to NikoB_999's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
That's actually pretty good, I'm guessing those were burn test temps. I wish they had decent tools for Deliding a PGA based CPU like my Ryzen chip, I could probably get close to 5ghz if I got a large reduction in heat -

I'm in the United States so I think my prices should be normal, I was checking random Google listings from Newegg and Amazon. I'll go there and take a look though. -

I saw a video from Gamers Nexus talking about how the silicone sealant itself can hurt thermals. He actually was running the chip without it sealed. I'm taking it you're an ethuasist so it might be worth checking out. He mentions it during his review of this aftermarket IHS https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DjbTi5Ed89Yk&ved=2ahUKEwjEjsScnNHfAhXr44MKHS9pBmUQjjgwAHoECAcQAQ&usg=AOvVaw36ED0FPCzHwkm6tuhlD9YR -

Hmm, what price point should I expect then for a 1060 or 1070? -
Buying a used GPU
Thatguywiththetoasterpc replied to Thatguywiththetoasterpc's topic in Graphics Cards
Well a used 1070 or new 1060 it is, I was holding up hope thinking they would keep it down in price to complete with the Upcoming Navi based RX cards that will be dropping for the lower end users like me. For the 1060 I found this: https://m.newegg.com/products/N82E16814487261?ignorebbr=true&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-Mobile&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-Mobile-_-pla-_-Video+Card+-+Nvidia-_-N82E16814487261&gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=Cj0KCQiA37HhBRC8ARIsAPWoO0wnpcyeQQ_k6b6eLQHc7Q_sb3EYjdH3Dzw27kCNwU777VxNPEpoLNwaAsttEALw_wcB But I'm skeptical of EVGA after getting this turd that can barely even do it's own stock speeds. Edit: I thought the game deals might be nice, but only if the card is a good performer. -

Hmm, should I maybe wait for the 1160 then? I've heard rumors it may come out in the first quarter of this year. Edit: that's if it launches at a similar price point as the first 1060 -

Damn, well atleast a man could hope. But I probably should do what you said and just look for a used listing on Ebay or craigslist from someone with a good rating. -

That's what I was worried about I don't know by refurbished if they mean it's just used but has been checked for damage, or was damaged and then repaired which a cheap bandaid fix. -

I was kind of hoping since Newegg is selling them as refurbished they might check for that kind of thing. But I've bought "refurbished" things before that look like the were put right on the shelf to sell without even being checked. So that's why I came here to get a sense of how Newegg handles them atleast. -
Hey everyone, I've come on here from time to time about my old toaster and I have finally upgraded. Actually the last remaining item from my old PC is my GTX 1050 ti SC from EVGA that's trash, considering I can't even come close the clock speeds others have reached with ease. Like literally everyone else can do +150 with no voltage bump and I'm barely stable at +50 so I've completely lost the lottery, and since the RTX series came out I've been looking into buying a 1080 ti from some enthusiast that has already stepped up. I found some refurbished Gtx 1080 Ti's on newegg for just over $200 I'm wondering if this is a good idea since it's through newegg and square trade has protection plans available. Or should I just save my cash for the 1160 or RTX 2050 which cost about the same but are new. As always any advice is appreciated, thanks

Realtek HD Audio Manager won't work with my mic
Thatguywiththetoasterpc replied to Thatguywiththetoasterpc's topic in Audio
I think I may have solved it by forcing Realtek Audio Manager to launch at startup. It works in Everything so far except in the game I want to use it for.... lol- 1 reply

Hey people, I got another mind-boggling issue. Well I just bought 4 microphones for my PC and well at first they wouldn't work so I reinstalled Realtek HD audio manager's drivers and it finally seemed to work okay and I was happy so I shut off my PC. Then I go to get on the next morning and it back to square one... So I do it again, I finally get it to work just to realize that the restart the completes the driver installation, also causes the mic to not work... So I keep on fiddling, I soon find out that even after reinstalling that I can open the Realtek control panel to change things from there. I get more frustrated and begin to force delete all Realtek files in hopes of getting any residual files, and it got worse lol. Now after restarting to complete the driver installation the Audio Endpoint driver that controls the microphones won't show up under Recordings in Manage Audio Devices. I have tried just about everything in the books that I can think of, if anyone has had this grueling issue I beg of you to tell me how to fix it because i'm at my wit's end my friends, It seems like everything I try to do on this PC requires days of troubleshooting and testing to make it work... I'm honestly coming to consider the unthinkable, getting a Mac because at least they don't have as many issues, as they are for the less tech-savvy... My Specs: Windows 10 64-bit Insten Viop laptop mic Asrock 970m Pro3 MoBo with Realtek audio (unfortunately) P.S. I'm also using Nvidia HDMI audio driver if that means anything.
