the MBK reacted to TetraSky in Now it's official: "Gaming Disorder" is a mental condition according to WHO
I play games to distract myself while watching things like WAN show and the Co-Optional podcast. I just can't sit still and watch something for an hour (much less 3 hours) and do nothing but that.
Other than that, these days I barely play any games and I certainly don't play any sort of "competitive" games like CoD, LoL, etc... So... Yeah, not addicted to gaming.

If anything I'm addicted to the internet. When I didn't have internet for 2 weeks, I kept opening my browser all the time to check something... only to realize "oh wait... no internet"... then 5 minutes later, repeat the process.

Seriously this is very bad idea, does the term witch hunt mean anything to anyone? or seen the movie Minority Report?

As "good intentions" as the "inventors" here may have this tech would undoubtedly be used for means not intended. I used 'witch hunt' for good reason. Want to read a good dystopian novel, well I am pretty sure this will create the exact plot line behind the next real life one . . . [devil advocating]

For those that may think this can do good for helping those "in the closet" [just to borrow a phrase] I highly doubt this will work in their favor. This kind of tech will never imo be accurate enough to be considered accurate. Any person has to live their life in discovery of themselves. Nothing, nobody, no technology can tell you who/what/which manner that you are, Only and only you can determine that for yourself. These "gaydar" [by the way an extremely offensive name scheme] machines will not be able to this for anyone, especially those that consider themselves of that mindset.. are you absolutely certain you want to be confirmed by a machine? Its like me walking up to you and telling you're homosexual and that is considering whether I believe it or not just to either 1) make you feel better about yourself or 2) some other reason.

This [^above] is mostly just all speculation and open thoughts not necessarily my personal opinion on the matter.

the MBK got a reaction from shermantanker in This is Star Wars Battlefront 2 trailer
So to clear up a few things I saw here:
The DLC like maps, heroes and modes is going to be free.
But there is a loot box system. This is the method of monetizing the game. The boxes can be earned at a very reasonable rate (every 2-3 games in the alpha) and they contain star cards. These cards are your abilities in your game and you cannot only get them from boxes but you can also create them by using a ingame currency called "parts". You can get 4 different tiers of each card from the boxes or you can upgrade the cards with these parts. It's not even close to a grind to get one of the 3 lower tiers by just bying and upgrading them with these parts.
So these star cards are abilities and influence gameplay but to Show you how much of a different it makes here is an example:
You can craft the basic version of a card with 20 parts (you can earn as much in one round). This gives you the ability itself.
You can upgrade it with 50 parts and get a 29 second cooldown instead of 30.
Upgrade it again for 200 and get a 28 second cooldown.
And upgrade it once again for 400 and you get a 26 second cooldown.
The numbers aren't exact but you might get what I want to say. The best version of an ability is only slightly better than the worse and you can craft them instead of only getting them from loot boxes. For the ones concerned about pay to win.

Even if your CPU isn't maxed it can be a CPU bottleneck. That's the case here. And it's quite a big one it seems. Try to oc your CPU (Maybe there is some bios that might allow you to oc. Do a bit of research.) or turn down mesh quality, that might help as well.

the MBK reacted to Veninblazer in Something that just doesn't make much sense to me in the PC gaming enthusiast industry
Why does it seem that since the last year of games has released, and the 10 series of graphics cards have released, that many PC gamers have just gotten plain fucking stupid in regards to how games are optimized? Like the standards for lower-end video cards has arbitrarily went up for some reason? I.e if a game drops a mid-level ($250-400) card below 60 with everything maxed, it's automatically indicative of "poor optimization," no matter what's on screen, and then Steam reviews are flooded with negative reviews as a result and any YouTube benchmark is flooded with comments about the supposed poor optimization. I'll tell you this much: if these games you scapegoated (and they all seem to be from the same company with a few exceptions, that's just ridiculous) were really that badly optimized, there's no way in hell I'd be able to run them as well as I do on my system, which is NOT a beast by any means - in fact, it's rather budget-end and would only be high-end by the standards of five years ago or mid-range by 2014's standards. Why the hell is "Ultra" the baseline, when that's almost always the afterthought setting? It isn't 2007 anymore, most games look just as good at high as they do at ultra yet the performance difference amounts to anywhere from 25-50% higher at High, yet Ultra is always used to scapegoat games.

In fact, the only game people seem to justify with its max settings being as ridiculous as they are is Grand Theft Auto V, which was tested on a 1080 Ti by Joker Productions at 1080p and with every single thing turned up, and not even THAT could sustain a solid 60 at 1080p in his test. But, nobody calls GTA V "unoptimized" because of that. So why exactly are other games (such as Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Tom Clancy's The Division, Watch Dogs 2, and 2016 Hitman) scapegoated if even a GTX 1060 (mid-range card) is dropping at max settings? It's one thing if you're having random fps drops in certain areas for no reason (Fallout 4 for example), it has serious issues even at lowest settings (Nier: Automata) facing massive frame pacing issues (Dishonored 2), or there's no real difference between different settings in regards to framerate (Mafia 3 and Dark Souls 3), but it's another when your only issue is dropping below 60 at max settings (provided the rest of your system isn't bottlenecking, since some of these are CPU/RAM intensive titles too) and then you refund as a result of that alone.

The irony of your observation is that if the specs are too low, they start complaining that the game is "dumbed down console trash". PC game developers can't win no matter which direction they go, save for a few exceptions.

I also don't really see a point in running games on Ultra. There's barely any quality difference between it and the next level below and you have to really scrutinize between screenshots. And if you're going to do that in game, are you really playing games to play games, or to measure your e-peen?

Really?  I could have sworn that installing an engine is just a tad more complicated.

3 screws and a few tabs, while more complicated than Intel's installation method, isn't unacceptable.
Especially if the risk of bending pins is much lower as a result.
Also, you don't need a cherry picker to lift it.

But on the topic: I might get Vega 64 if I'll get Vega at all, and I assume this will be Vega 56 or something that is even more cut down. Something nice for SFF enthusiasts that don't care about power draw and thermals, which are only few I assume. I think a 1070 might be the better SFF card.

Well for me upgrading my RAM from 8 to 16GB did the trick. No more frame drops. But you might run in some problems with your 2GB GPU as well.
Maybe you get a better experience now because the GPU is the only bottleneck. If you use higher settings, the game feels more consistent.
