  1. I have a question iv asked myself for awile, just wondering what you guys think lol. I have Dell Dimensions L1000R that I have stuffed with a PCI version of the EVGA GeForce 6200, a Sound Blaster 128, and about 5 things running through a single USB 1.0 port in the back with the help of a Wall Powered USB Hub. Has an orignal Non-ATX FoxConn PSU. I cant remember the wattage, but its sub 200w. Iv played about 30mins of Skyrim on it without issues. I use it for retro games and emulators now, but its nice to be able to play RCT3 and Oblivion on it lol. Edit: Iv had this like this for months. Also edit, I have had the PC restart itself when I do things that are honnestly a bit too much for it lol, so the protection works lol
  2. OBS doesn't work on Windows XP however it "may" run when I have it in Windows 7, but alot of what I want to record is using Windows XP. Alot of modern software obviously have a few issues running on a PC that is basically considered Retro/Vintage hardware now lol, but I am making my "How To" videos on what you can still do with this kind of hardware. Edit: I forgot to say the EVGA 6200 has DVI out, VGA out, & S-Video out. It's currently running using a DVI to HDMI converter for the screen
  3. Hey guys, I have another question lol. I want to record footage on one of my old PC's to do a "How To" video on YouTube. I'm am just trying to figure out a way to record stuff without putting major strain the PC with already micro sized amounts of power compared to today's standards. An Elgato is really expensive to just to record a few videos, as I am a PC Player so normally I use the nVidia recorder; but that won't help me in this case. What is a cheep way to record decent video on a low powered device like this, or low hardware use software that's comptable. Here is the specs of the PC I want to record a running "turn of the century" eggshell white Dell Dimensions L1000R Pentium III Coppermine 1Ghz EVGA GeForce 6200 with 256MB of DDR2 VRAM 256MB RAM for PC Dual 40GB Boot Hard Drives 1TB USB 3.0 External Drive Corsair Strafe RGB Gaming Keyboard Corsair M65 Mouse Yes all that is working off and fully running on only one of the two USB 1.0 Ports with help of a USB Bus. The PC is running with nVidia Drivers at 1920x1080p at 60FPS with both WinXP and Windows 7 I have a few rough ideas, but do you guys have any as well? Just curious of what you guys come up with lol! Edit: HD Recording does not have to be an option but would be nice lol
  4. Should have a place indoors to store them, so I should be good but thanks guys for the tips just in case
  5. I'm worried about exactly that, just trying to figure out where to put them other then in a storage unit. Or find one with AC
  6. Just a question for the community, is it safe to store my computers in an outdoor Un-Airconned Storage Unit/Garage where temps outside recently have been touching negatives in recent days. One of them especially is has an Corsair H100i GTX AIO Water Cooler, which im more afraid of then anything. Second one is a working almost 20 Year Old, Dell L1000R I use for Old School games & Retroware, The other is a "RetroMod" PC a 1999 FuturePower PC "My First PC" that basically had a new engine installed, ASUS Pro Gaming z170 MB, Kingwin IO Board, working case LED's, 3TB HDD, Intel i3 (room for upgrade), and fully working 1.44 Floppy Drive running Windows 10. Wondering if there is any safe way of storing my PCs without risking them getting ruined in the unit by the extreme cold. Otherwise i'll try to find a diff way to store them.
  7. Are all Linux Distros able to use the same programs or do they need there own special version? I'm honestly just wanting to try Linux out myself for the first time.
  8. Honestly, I didn't even bother looking at the specs when I bought it and slapped it in lol. It's almost about the same in power as the iGPU, I honestly can't see much of an FPS difference other then now the GPU was not on the processor lol
  9. I have a PC that im thinking of trying linux on. What Distro do you guys think is best? The PC is a 1999 Future Power model PC with basicly a new engine under the hood. Here are the specs. It was built on a budget because I broke the orignal hardware trying to replace the heatsink with a flathead screwdriver and it well... slipped lol, and I thought it was a good project at rebuilding it from the inside. MB: Asus Pro Gaming Aura RGB z170 CPU: Skylake Intel Core i3 GPU: Really crappy $50 one, honestly neck and neck for the integrated one I beleve lol RAM: 8GB DDR4 HDD: 3TB WD HDD With a Kingwin IO board, HP DVD Drive, A Working 1.44 Floppy Drive connected via USB internaly, and an early 2000s Fan controller for the rear blue LED exaust fan. Any Ideas?
  10. Campy: Ill try lower drivers ty Campy! Otherwise the features Windows 7 give you are not bad. The GPU cannot support anything higher realy then 1920x1080p anyway. Edit: I would go higher to maybe Windows 8.1 however due to the Pentium III lacking SSE2 and other instructions. This is difficult and requires "3rd Party patching" to even attempt. I actualy had to open the ISO and use a Hex Editor just to get Windows 7 to let me install with less then 512MB of RAM. Manikyath: Yes this a fully working 1999 Dell Dimensions L1000R with a full sized EVGA GeForce 6200 in the PCI slot with a Dual-Boot of Windows 7 with Aero and XP running af full 1920x1080p at times a supposed 60fps. Iv gotten not only Minecraft to run at 45FPS (though that shouldent sound like much of a feet lol), Oblivion and GTA San Andreas runs supprisingly well. NelizMastr: I would think that too, its weard the WinXP version of the 307 driver works great on XP but not 7 lol. Win7 just does not like the drivers I give it other then what Microsoft gives you. It could be what you said as well that maybe the newer versions require an instruction that the Pentium III lacks. Still trying to find a way to get them running but Windows 7 support is alot better then XP was. Looks nicer too lol
  11. From what iv read the 2060 is about the same as the 1070ti but cost more. The RTX really doesn't mean much when almost no games or programs support it yet.
  12. Making another post for my PC, I am havi g a small issue with installing the nVidia Graphics Drivers from there website for my computer. PC is used for playing older games that dont run well on Win10, but I use it for videos too. Its a 1999 Dell Dimensions L1000R with a nVidia EVGA GeForce 6200 installed. Its running Windows 7 Pro with Aero & WinXp as a Dual Boot. The issue is on Windows 7 Pro The computer will run the nVidia Driver it comes with/installs, so I have full support. However the drivers from nVidias website refuse to finish installing. The screen would flash almost halfway through install, res would go down to like 320x480 something, then would go back to normal saying nvidia driver and update failed to install. Then on the bottom right it would say. nVidia 6200 WM Driver installed and go back to 1920x1080p. I have tried deleting the drivers then reinstalling, no luck just goes back to default drivers. Using DDU to uninstall the drivers with no internet to make sure it wasen't just redownloding a driver off Microsoft. Still failed and went back to the driver supplied by Windows 7. What do you think could be causing this, iv Tried both Drivers 307.83 x86 for Win7/Vista & Drivers 309.08 For Vista/Win7/8? Both fail to install the drivers? I would like to have more video settings then what Microsoft provides lol
  13. Woulden't mind finding one of those Zotac cards lol. I can only guess the bottleneck it would have with my PC lol. Edit: I mean I litterly had to use a Hex Editor to get Windows 7 installed. As the installer won't let you install if you have less then 512MB of RAM
  14. It is a Dell Dimensions L1000R with propritary MB and Non-ATX PSU. The EVGA 6200 that is installed is a PCI-Orignal Slot 256MB card. Edit: I like the brag I even can play Terraria on it lol. Any GPU will need to have a PCI-Classic version
  15. That would be nice if.. A. The PC had a PCI-E or AGP slot B. Had a PSU that had more then 100watts. Honestly im suprised the 6200 runs at all. Its a 256MB PCI Orignal version of the 6200. Edit: Prob one of the most powerfull PCI gpus you can get, they mostly went to PCI-E afterwards
