  1. You'll be fine to run the monitors in high resolution, they're just saying the gpu isn't powerful enough to actually render games at that resolution.
  2. Not trying to bump this thread but I have this monitor and thought I could add some experience. Mine can pretty easily overclock to 70hz without any frames dropping, but if I recall correctly, getting closer to 80hz caused me to drop some frames. I didn't notice the frame drops in games, but online tools picked it up. I haven't had experience overclocking monitors prior to this, so I just left it at the recommended 60hz. As for the widescreen aspect of the monitor, I really enjoy it. I'd say most modern games support it or have a mod for it. There are only a few games that I have played lately that just won't support ultra widescreen at all. What I notice more often is that games will display in the proper ultra-wide aspect ratio, but certain parts will be broken, like the HUD and menus. I think it's worth the trade off, but that's up to you. The youtuber "Wide as Fcuk" does a pretty good job of detailing what aspects of games work and don't work when playing on an ultra wide, so I always check out his reviews before buying a new game (he can be pretty harsh on games for lack of support, but he still goes over all the flaws pretty in-depth).
  3. Thank you everyone for all the suggestions, I just upgraded very recently so I haven't had much time to mess with it, but now when I do (probably this weekend) I'll know where to start! I had just figured it was a hardware issue, so at least I can try these suggestions before I go throwing money at the problem lol.
  4. Hi, I have recently upgraded ISPs and got what they claim to be gigabit internet speeds. I did a speed test and I am receiving 470 Mbps down and 852 mbps up on my desktop PC using ethernet directly to the router. I get that not all computers are capable of those speeds, and my mobo is a few years old at this point, but what should I do to get the most out of my internet? Is there a reason up is almost twice the speed of down? Is it even worth trying to get the full speed? Just trying to learn more about this, so any help is appreciated.
  5. Holy crap, how completely unreasonable. I wouldn't trust any other specs they recommend if they think any student needs that.
  6. When this happened to me, I ended up using either pliers or tweezers to get the remaining parts of the cable out of the port.
  7. I don't believe this is correct. It wasn't supported for a while but now they "support" ultra wide resolutions by just zooming in the screen a little and not increasing FOV. I also do not believe flawless widescreen has a fix for it. Regardless, I play Overwatch on my ultra wide and it's really not too bad at all. Hasn't stopped me from enjoying the game, at least.
  8. I did this for a dual monitor mount and have had it up for years, just have to check it every so often to make sure it is still secure.
  9. Have been wanting both Jackbox games for a little while now but haven't really been watching the prices, is this a good deal? Seems pretty decent for both.
  10. I was between MSI and EVGA, but ended up going with EVGA mostly because they also made my last gpu that I was happy with (...and the red of the MSI Gaming card really didn't match my rig to be honest).
  11. After I got my second monitor I got really hooked and kept adding monitors until I had a total of 6 for a while. Eventually realized it was overkill and went down to 3 lol.
  12. You'll be fine with the 970 if you end up stuck with it, just because it's not the best-valued card on the market rn doesn't mean its a bad card.
  13. Well you'll get by just fine with a 970, but why ask if you had bought it anyway?
  14. Current setup is Logitech G500 mouse, Raz Black Widow keyboard, and my headset is some cheap knock off that barely works so I'd really love an upgrade haha.
  15. I looked into it, and everyone is saying "The second half of 2016" so it's looking close, but who knows how accurate that is.
