Do you intend on overclocking your CPU? If you don't, you could save yourself some money by getting an H170 board instead of a Z170 board, you could get a much smaller/less expensive cooler (even something like a cryorig H7, hyper 212 EVO, or coolermaster T4 if you don't want to go with a stock intel fan).

If you DO want to overclock, spend the extra 20 bucks and get the 6600k. the 6600 cannot overclock, and you're going to be leaving alot of performance on the table if you don't invest in the K version of your CPU.

The only other thing left is that I would recommend getting a 1070 instead of the 980ti If you can. I know they are about the same performance as far as raw fps goes right now, but the 1070 edges out slightly ahead, and its far superior technology and features is going to make it well worth it going forward. (Nothing against the 980ti, I have one myself and its great, but the 1070 is the better option if you can afford it)

But yes, this system you have suggested will easily handle any AAA you throw its way at 1080p or 1440p @ 60hz.

I would like to overclock my CPU Can you direct me to a page on the fourms about it or a youtube video?

Also with all this in account the new setup is:

Is this a good selection for a gaming computer that could run some AAA games as well as watch streams and videos while not playing? My laptop died and I thought that I would build a computer instead of buying a new laptop. I had a previous post helping me put together and learn about parts but i made some changes. I had a budget of 1500 but still needed to buy a Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor. All suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Forgot To mention that I wanted to buy some fans and did not know how many or what type I would need for the case I picked

I think i might go for this because i was intending to cut back a little in order to buy monitors and peripherals and if this can run games smooth then I think I will take it.

Unless there are any other suggestions, I would still appreciate it. Also, Is there an in depth tutorial on how to build it. I have watched Linus but I got a little confused with some parts.

    Thanks again.

With a Budget of $1500 you computer will be able to play 4k quite well (thanks to the new GTX 1070), unless you spend it all on custom water cooling and a fancy case. If you aren't looking for the best monitors i would say at least go 1920x1080. The cheapest one on newegg (didn't really search that hard) is 83 US dollars. a 1080p 144 hz is $100 more.

I do want to use a water cooler for the CPU but I am fine with using a fan. As for the monitor somewhere under 100 would be nice. Ill check out newegg.

I would appreciate opinions on if i can cut back on anything or improve.

It based it off of one of the build guides I saw on pcpartpicker

Tell us more about what games, resolution, and other tasks

If i can handle AAA games i would most likely switch over to a pc gamer (Buying latest games on PC instead of console).

    Is 1440x900 a good resolution.

The only other tasks would be watching streams, videos, and just browsing the web. I do not plan on recording or editing any videos nor do I plan on streaming.

  6. I was planning on building my first gaming computer instead of buying a gaming laptop from best-buy. I do not plan on spending much more than $1,500 (U.S.) and i did not know where i should start. Gaming wise, I was not planning on playing AAA games. I was not planning on putting peripherals in my budget and was thinking of getting some cheap monitors, 2 eventually. I have been looking at tutorials, and i know that the components have to be compatible. I do not know much about the statistics of parts and was hoping you guys would give some suggestions.
