  1. Alright I'll give it a shot when I'm back home, currently on vacation
  2. Insightful - the cooling method was good for almost a year, I bought this laptop last year in July - but yeah maybe I'll check the CPU under the heatsink again and see if it's gone to shit
  3. Hi, I have no idea what's going on with this laptop anymore, I bought the Asus ROG GM501GS pretty much a week after it released, as soon as I had bought the laptop I had opened up the chassis from the back so I could add Liquid Metal a.k.a Grizzly Conductounaut onto it, it helped it's temps tremendously and my laptop never went over 80 degress whilst gaming. I'll break it down to a list of things i've done to make the laptop better. At the moment my laptop is pinned at 100% GPU and CPU usage when I'm playing games, i don't know why because it never used to be like this before so idk wag1. Improvements: - Added another 16GB Ram of same speed to make it dual channel - Upgraded to Win10 to delay updates - Added Liquid metal and better themal paste to the other places that had it, I only put Liquid Metal on the CPU - I've used Throttlestop to underclock the voltage to make the core voltage at -90 and the other thing (i forgot what it was called) around -70 - I normally dust my laptop every 4 months or so. Laptop specs: - i7 8750H - 32GB ram - GTX 1070 - NVME SSD and HDD - Windows 10 Pro BUild 1809 Please help me, all of my games have gone to shit, I'm playing Monster Hunter World on everything low and it struggles to even give me 60fps cuz of the heat it goes from like 1800mhz to like 800mhz and it should deffo not be thermal throttling liek this especially when all settings are switched to fuckign low. Every game I have played is going to shit, Diablo 3, Rainbow Six Siege, MHW, FUCKING SHANTAE THE HALF GENIE HERO (HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE) I need some suggestions because I hate windows 10 and I wish i could go onto Win 7 again, never got this shit my Desktop PC. Any ideas please help, DiFlux
  4. Evening Everyone, Just before I get onto to my text, please find below the link to my Drive showing both the "Perfmon Report", Minidumps of my BSOD's and an image of the overview log on Blue Screen Viewer below: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1qqcHqhiNGLLLdgBx0R147uG1sVz3GOwy I normally really don't like asking on forums for help with PC stuff as I normally find solutions to them in the end, however I can safely say I have no idea as to wtf is going on or round the reasons as to why since 6 months ago my PC has increased it's frequencies on BSOD's, I've tried a few things to try fix these issues. I will list my specs below here first to give a good overview: CPU: i7 4790K (this was OC'ed b4 but i've since left it on stock) RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz DDR3 (I also have a newer RAM Stick Patriot Viper 8GB 2133Mhz currently installed**) Motherboard: Z97S SLI Krait Edition 1150 GPU: Nvidia GTX1080Ti 11GB - Asus OC Edition Hard drives: Sandisk Ultra II 128GB - Sandisk Plus 240 - Samsung NVMe 960 EVO 500GB (NVMe is attached to a PCI-E 3.0 x4 Adapter) Sound Card: Asus Xonar Essence STX II ( I have drivers from UNi Xonar - signed version of it) PSU: Corsair RM850X Peripherals: Corsair Strafe RBG, G600 Mouse, Blue Mic, Fan controller from Lamptron, 3 monitors, CM Liquid Cooler OS: WIndows 7 Ultimate - Had to do some madness to get it to install on the NVMe drive The list of things I have attempted at trying to fix the crashes: - I used to run 16GB RAM but have since 2 weeks ago removed the Corsair Vengeance RAM in assumption it was due to Memory speed mismatch - I've made all settings stock on the CPU and RAM and using Asus's GPU Tweak on Balanced - Ran Malwarebytes and Anti-Virus scans to find any dogdy stuff tryna fck me over (I'm pretty evasive of dogdyness so scans show 0 results) - I used to have a 1.5 TB HDD plugged into the system and also a DVD/RW Disk drive installed but have unplugged them in assumption these 2 were the cause of faults - Updated Drivers on SATA Controllers and using the latest BIOS Update from MSI (although the BIOS was done a long time ago) - Punched my desk in frustration as I'm playing games and it suddenly freezes before going into full BSOD, sometimes it stays in full freeze and doesn't even BSOD. Also when it does BSOD it usually never auto-restarts itself afterwards. Essentially I really need some help on next steps here because I would like to not have to spend money on new parts as I will be out of a paycheck for 2 and half months (just got a new job that pays double what I used to get that won't start till Jan). I've been thinking to get a new motherboard but there's barely any mobos that are good that are selling for the 1150 chipset, also might as well just get a new MOBO and CPU if I have to buy a new one. Please help me community, Digition
  5. What else is there to get apart from an overpriced Titan lol?
  6. I've reduced the temps by a further 5c with the GPU undervolt - max temps during games like fortnite and OW was 75c instead of 80
  7. Hello there friend, Before any us can really make any educated guesses, I'm sure we'd appreciate more information on things like: Budget His needs (What will he be using it for?) Does he play games, will he need a GPU? Does he care about weight? How long does his battery to last? Size of Laptop - 13', 15', 17'? Does he care about higher than 60hz refresh rate? Color quality or speed? a.k.a IPS/AHVA or TN? (There are fast IPS screens too but they are expensive) There are some decent laptops such as the Dell Inspiron 15, Lenovo's Y520 Legion and so on
  8. Yeah I've used the software the voltage options are locked - I have it on "Discrete mode" which should mean it's using 1070 in there. MSI AB only shows me clocking options which won't even let me go negative lol EDIT 1 : Never mind, I found out how to get that frequency curve
  9. After applying Liquid Metal to the GM501GS myself, it only runs at 80C max during games (GPU + CPU heat is shared) AIDA64 CPU and Cache stress tests reports only a max temp of 68C (Overboost fan mode) after running for 2 hours - this goes up to around 78c when stressing the GPU with Furmark. With those tests I noticed that the CPU was being power throttled as it was only running at 3.7Ghz all around instead of 3.9Ghz. I've undervolted the cache and CPU core on TS by only -0.87mv - it kept BSOD'ing past those points, I can't seem to undervolt the GPU however which is an odd thing. The GM501 fully stock with no UV throttled by at least 15% due to it reachings temps of 98c. Liquid metal is well worth the upgrade and disassembly isn't too hard, just requires time and patience. I'm using Thermal Grizzly's Conductounaut LM and FujiPoly Extreme thermal pads for the Chokes next to the GPU and CPU If anyone's got any recommendations regarding UV let me know.
  10. @ZM Fong Hope I'm not bothering you my friend, I've just ordered the GM501 to come by the end of the week ( I couldn't order from HIdevolution as it would've been a HUGE customs tax I'd have to pay, not worth it) I have experience with building PC's and repairing laptops and applying thermal paste however, Do you know if using Liquid Metal is safe on the CPU and GPU? - I've just bought the Conductonaut and Fujipoly pads to go onto the laptop when I get it, I will also undervolt it to by about -0.100Mv or so just to reduce overall temps a bit.
  11. I'm very close to actually wanting to purchase the GM501 but the battery life is pretty shambles and it seems the display is not the best in terms of color gamut, I love the design of the laptop but after using a BenQ B2420pt which has amazing color gamut for the price, I'd like something with a bit better color depth especially If I'll be using it for light color correction. Maybe I'm being overly picky - but with the budget I have, I think that's fair.. Anyways, does anyone know any unbiased laptop reviewers or good review sites to look at for clear information and not sellout junk, I think @ZM Fong knew a website that was pretty good but I've lost the topic where he recommended it, would love to read some proper reviews.
  12. Is there any UK/EU based resellers for these laptops that provide any LM or better thermal solutions - not looking to pay that 2.9% on my credit card to be honest lol
