  1. Moro (Hello) I went digging the foldersystems of my Win10 pro operating system, programfiles and users. For example i found in my user folder .LSC containing my downloads, and my downloads folder was empty... What? When did this happen and how? Do you have any answers? I don't. Greggio
  2. You got powerful GPU already, 980 GTX. Only meaningful upgrade for you at this moment would be 1080. 1070 is more like douple the mem and 480, is less powerful with douple mem. CF 480 is again dualcard solution, depends the game/usecase how well it works you. If you need to upgrade now: 1080 If you are willing to wait a bit: Vega (even tho we have no data about what it really is) That is my opinion of it. G
  3. Moro (hello) It seems like the question is about, do i wana play over 60 fps, or over 60fps or over 60 fps? (ok, lets turn vsync off) {Getting little speculative here... 1080p gaming, 480 is ennough, get a silent and cool third party design. 1440p 1060/480 might be abit hardship with the frames, tho should be ennough if you tweak the settings and oc a bit. 1440p +hires mods or something like it. more ram = better, faster ram =better. R9 fury x will crunch it. 1070 will be still be couple of hundreds more expensive and totally crush it. honestly, i'm pulling these results out of my hat. } all of those cards will do it, just what is your budget, what is your upgrade plan (when do you plan to upgrade it next time), re sell value? do you profit or lose in the process? We can argue what is fastest and what is best for themselfs, but only you can say what is best suited for your workloads in the end. G - bottlenecking my system in the name of upgrade_path.
  4. Moro (hello) I would vote for 2x8gb sticks, when you upgrade next time, you might be able to take those sticks over to the new build and buy 2 new sticks and douple the ram that way. I prefer allways 2 sticks over 4 unless it's X-class chipset like x99 board. (4channel>2channel) Anyways with 2 sticks you got some space between the sticks wich is good for airflow = cooling, or not.
  5. Moro (hello) I just upgraded from Phenom II 970 BE on Asrock 970 extreme 4 to FX 8350. Got major problems with MB powerdesign. Atleast the 8350 came with Msi 970 gaming Mobo, so i switched to that and all works. Msi 970 Gaming is cheap and you can find used boards really cheap from internet. The powerdesign on the board is really important with FX 8k+ series. That rig your friend has might have custom Mobo, check if it can handle 140W+ TDP or up to 200W. The better power you can feed to cpu, the better is the stability as far as it's ennough power and cooling is ok. G - The noob that didn't first check the powerdesign...
  6. Moro (hello) I went with 8GB XFX RX 480 GTR. I'm happy. It's a bit noisy with the leafblowers on the heatsink, and the white XFX led is a bit odd(not used to it) trough the side panel window, but i like it. I'm thinking of getting Watercooler on it, but also was wondering to Jerryrig(tm) Noctua fan to blow it cool and removing the shroud on the heatsink and maybe 3d print new shroud for2 noctua fans to make it even more BA-AF. These are just ideas. The board just allows awesome tuning possibilities. also was wondering how to Jerryrig(tm) Noctua NH-D14 on the chip for the fun of it. it requires some pci-e x16 extension to turn the gpu so that the tower sits nice on it. only the sky is limit when you can 3d print stuff. Reminder, i will lose warranity by doing any of those mods. RX 480 is awesome. Do you have ideas about 8GB XFX RX 480 GTR?
  7. I go little offtopic here. 1070, starts to enter the pricepoint where watercooling does not hurt the wallet somuch compared to the card cost. 1070 seems so powerful gpu that it might be valid gpu for a many years to come. Thou the 120hz 4k screen might be the next thing companies wants to push us to buy faster and faster gpus for.(i mean the screen from CES17 that Linus drooled on.) thou if you have recent predator screen, you might not be in hurry to upgrade any time soon. Zotac had cards with custom waterblocks for custom tubes and Evga had with closedloop (AIO) watercooler setup, right?
  8. As far as I see this situation, it's like you will be upgrading your CPU and Mobo in few years, so you could go even further than 1050ti or 470, In upgrading path vice. I would put my money on 480 or 1060, cos those are plenty powerfull for few years to come, and when you heave them out of the system, you can just fit them to the old system and let them run cooler cos bottlenecked they don't need to run as hard as on the faster cpu. Anyways it's all about the budget and it's ok that you have cpu bottleneck. Probably the gpu will run cooler and quiter. "just maybe" If you are not plannin to upgrade system in few years, sure, go for 1050 ti or 470. (It's again your uppgrade path, your money and budget) Remember, it's not a "crime" to cpu bottleneck your current system, as it seems to be for some people, the worst thing ever. I have often ended up with cpu bottleneck, and when i have upgraded rest of the system, it has been in some balance untill i have upgraded the gpu again, and ended up cpu bottleneck again. Not a problem unless you wana make it a one. It's all about your upgrade cycle and budget. Anyways i recomend swich that apu to non apu cpu what sits in that FM socket. Those can be optained very cheap as used. Sorry for the wall of messy spelling and errors. Greggio - Nemesis of the perfect world and probably the nastiest bottlenecker Sorry my passive agressive style of writing. Trying to learn out of it.
  9. Oh man! This is like your system is totally handicapped, the "Slowmode" swich is off right? it's on the MB pbc
  10. Moro.(hello) I would check the pci-e power cable is in right spot in PSU. Either try different slot in psu, and it seems it comes from same source both connectors, well it's usually ok, but just in case of testing, run separate cables for each pci-e power slots. it might affect or not. Afterburner didn't show any crazy thermals, but i would add few fans front of the case. to get little balanced presure. Also is your 8 pin cpu power cable connected? don't see it in pic. There "might" be also some software issues if you have had different GPU in the os install. but i doup it. WHat else, Check cables, test cables, check software, reinstall drivers... umm well clean install of os, but that might not fix the issue anyway... I can feel your frustration. I hope you get it fixed.
  11. While those 3 PC run for year anyway, could you please use that computing power to some use? There is this awesome project named Folding@home. If those 3 PC's run for a year the calculations in F@F in Linus tech tips name, I would apreciate you much more. Link to the Folding@home Project
  12. To me it looks like RX480 Saphire nitro is very amazing for litecoin miners!
  13. I have AMD Radeon HD 6950 OC 1gb gddr5 from Gigabyte. (from 2010) I really would like this hawt Polaris 10! Polaris 11 would be seen as upgrade too.
