I done did it. I made an impulse purchase today.
Wise Arms B-15, on the lower end of the AR line up but its Definitely better than my DPMS Oracle, upper and lower fit is much tighter, and trigger is a world better.

I haven't taken a pics yet but here is a stock photo.

    Oh nice.

    I only see one though.

Strike Industries at least trying to fix the ergonomic issues with the P90/PS90. Seems like they just copied call of duty though.

Its trigger, magazine design, receiver/optics design, general inaccuracy with its barrel design having so much play/flex, NFA otherwise you get the ridiculous 16" version, not as compact as something like the PSA X57, ergonomics clearly design by committee. There's not much gain between something like 7-8", 10" and 16" with 5.7x28mm. Even the difference between a PSA Rock 57 threaded versus non threaded barrel is ~100fps with 40gr (seen a couple of separate tests showing that), so adding another 2-3" of barrel is even more, likely enough to give it maximum powder burn and an optimal dwell time.

In comparison you get a 'large format pistol' design with what's generally considered the best magazine location with how putting your hands together is just easier for humans than the latter. I wouldn't be surprised if NATO has some semblance of sanity with the PDW trials and rejected the MP7 because of the caliber, and the P90 because of its atrocious design. Though 5.7x28mm isn't much better than 4.6x30mm and is really only more popular in the US because of HK's failures to dip into the US market in many ways.

I've been under the opinion in general that the perfect PDW combo would be 5.7x28mm and the MP7's general design, being a pistol grip fed collapsing stock/brace PDW with the 7-8" barrel length. The PSA x57 model they show is super early and I've seen interviews saying that its got another 12 months or so of development, since the model they're showing is a 3D printed one without a LRBHO and safety, which they're working on. The fact that its parts compatible with the Rock 57 and uses standardized stuff like an AR-15 charging handle is absolute money.

Its a cool idea to think of using a 57 Rock pistol and this X57 PDW as a 'loadout', but TBH, its kind of redundant. I'm not sure what sidearm Seal Team 6 uses when they pull out their MP7s for a mission, but from what I have seen, its usually a tertiary firearm and not a primary/secondary, still, I wouldn't be surprised if they choose it for door busting exclusively because of the form factor. I have seen SEALs discuss 4.6x30mm though, where their rule is "one mag per target" 😄

Saw a comment on reddit that is highly relatable; "Stop, I can only get so hard."

I'd love to see someone make a 4.5mm to triangle brace adapter, I've ran this setup on my PSA AKV and its really annoying having two folding functions.

One of our departments had the need for workers who spend a lot of time outside to submit short reports directly from the field. Instead of first asking our IT department or anyone else about it if we already had something like that, they decided to do their own thing. So they sought out a survey platform, signed up for it and created the few forms they wanted to use. All well and good.

Unfortunately, they didn't consider how they'd evaluate the data. The built-in dashboard is horrendously unsuited for evaluating data. So I was asked to create a corresponding Excel file that could import that data and make it navigable and turn it into charts if needed. Here's the second roadblock: The CSV file the platform exports is abysmally designed and doesn't follow any discernible CSV convention I've seen to date. I've managed to create an import routine but it wasn't as easy as it should've been. Make note that at this point, once I was part of the project, I told them that I had my reservations about the usability of this tool but was struck down.

Then came the third strike. The survey had a few drop downs. And to make it visually more appealing, the guys who wrote the survey put in a few cosmetic entries like this:

    Entry 1
    Entry 2
    ----------
    Entry 3
    Entry 4

They didn't foresee that anyone would actually use the dash entries if they couldn't decide which other element to choose or if any of the other entries didn't apply. So you had a bunch of garbage data in there. But that's not even the worst of it. When they took out those dash entries, the results of the already recorded surveys changed retroactively. It's my assumptions that the tool doesn't actually save the text of whatever you choose from the drop down, but the numeric reference of which line the entry is on. I tried it by adding a new entry at the very top and sure enough, every completed survey had that question's answer shifted around.

At this point, since I already asked our IT department for a general survey platform a couple of times and was ignored every time, I just went ahead and created a dummy Google account to have access to Google drive and forms (don't worry, there's no mission critical data or even anything especially spicy in there, it's just "we went there at this date and time and saw X Y and Z"). I recreated the two forms in like 10 minutes, turned on the option to have the outputs directly written into a sheets file and made sure Google weren't dumb enough to only store line references from the drop downs instead of the actual text you choose. All that hassle to create a CSV import that makes the data pretty to look at and they could've had that for free, had they only asked and listened to what I said.

Probably not worth it, as it isn't really meant for 3D and overclocking doesn't change that. With 2 CU's it's mostly good for basic desktop use.

In any case, here's a guide:

Had a new/old rifle follow me home from Cabelas the other day.  Got a second Stevens model 70 Visible Loader.  The new one has the more rare octagon barrel and has the flip up peep sight.  Can't wait to get it to the range and see if it helps with lobbing CB shorts out to 100 yards.  🙂

First AR build is "done". No good pictures right now, but all it needs is the grey stock and a threaded bolt catch pin.

    Otherwise, it'll shoot.

NGL I log into the forum every couple of days, read everyone's status updates, and try to catch up on this thread (y'all be posting to much for me to be 100% caught up though).

I don't think I've actually been active active in over a year though: just too much going on anymore.

I was the idiot today: I killed two PoE injectors because of a faulty switch.
I picked up a D-Link 5-port PoE switch from ewaste recently, wasn't receiving power on the PoE injector I had. I picked up two new ones and tried with those. One of the PoE injectors tried to deliver power, failed, then stopped working altogether - the other, well, shot sparks when connected to the switch. That one is also now dead.
Maybe the burned LAN port on the switch should've been a clue that something was off?

I owned an M&P AR when they first got to market, sold it at one point to fund other stuff. I built my current AR a few years back, started with a matched Wilson Combat receiver set and picked-out everything over a few months time; It’s much more rewarding to piece something together, and it is more accurate than the factory rifle I had.
