I recently got a new HP laser printer because of there reliability. As I was setting up the printer for network printing use I found an install disk inside the box. I as a loyal Linus Tech Tips fan I learned never use the install disk because of out dated software, so I threw it across the room as usual. I went to the HP official website to get all the drivers that I needed, but as I opened the tab of my printers drivers I was overwhelmed with a big list of firmware and drivers. So I looked through the list to see what I needed but it was too much until l I came across the "Full Driver & Software" Package. It listed all the drivers I needed and some firmware, and of course it came with some useless programs. But if it really bothered me I could always uninstall them at a later time. After everything was installed it was Great, I was able to print fast documents through my network and I even set up an email for the printer so I can print from anywhere! The problem is that life is not that easy. I got this popup saying that I need to authenticate the (new) printers toner cartridges. As I was going to click the window I suddenly noticed that the pop up looked poorly made and the authenticate button looked very pixely, not only that the logo on my task bar didn't look legit. So my first reaction was to open up task manager and end the task. But now it pops up every time I boot up windows . If anyone thinks I should "Authenticate" let me know. But If anyone know for sure that it can be a threat of some kind can someone please help me to get rid of it. I'm running windows 7 and I tried to use avast and windows defender to see of there is anything wrong, but they said everything was good.
