That's an OLDER AT power supply where the line in from the wall was actually switched at the front of the case; the power button literally cuts power to the machine. They had to change to ATX and use the green wire to allow the motherboard to stay powered to enable proper sleep/hibernate states where the motherboard could boot more quickly by keeping ram active-- and that only works if it's still powered on.  see old:

You need to ditch that entire old click-on-click-off latching switch with a more modern momentary contact switch and find a way to jam that behind the original button -- then wire that to the motherboard header for 'power'
    see new:

its like watching top gear and being like "why are they driving £1000000 Ferraris and not £1000 used third hand ford fiestas"

My opinion is that your opinion is wrong. We've been seeing these threads what seems like every other month, and it's pretty much always been from the same demographic too. Congratulations, you can't afford a three-way Titan Black setup. Who cares? If going by your logic then Titans and 980s and 290Xs shouldn't exist because we can't afford them.

    You're complaining about unnecessary things.

So tell me, what is Linus supposed to upload in the downtime between low end graphics card launches? Honestly the Mimo video was great because it provides a look at something a lot of parents might spend their money on. You don't have to worry about that, but remember not all of us are 14 years old.

wow... that's not cool we've all been 14,  at that age you don't really think about what you say/do or filter. If you feel better then him, show it. You are acting like an asshole.
I agree, it's not allright how he puts his opinion down. But he has an opinion. He wants to open a discussion... Obviously he doesn't know how, but that's ok when you are 14?
telling him to fuck off... Does it help you? does it help him? no.
you're making the same mistake as him, you are to agressive, you could tell him how to handle it,
Linus isn't God, people will hate him, people will not approve with the choices he make as a boss. I personly refuse to subscribe, because is refuse to register. I do watch all the vids. I may not care about them all, but i watch them anyway.
I'm a Assassin's creed fan boy, and i stick with it, are you gonna hate me because i refuse to hate ubisoft?
you can agree or not about every person you meet
it's the way you handle people remember

Some good discussion in here, but I really don't like the way the OP was personally attacked. Everyone in this community is welcome to voice his or her opinion about the content we produce at Linus Media Group because that's how we improve.

With that said, the mix of low end to high end productsf is unlikely to change anytime soon, and the reason is that people are only interested in watching something new, and there's simply no innovation in the space.

How far back do we have to go to find a $100 graphics card that wasn't rebadged?

How far back do we have to go to find a $40-50 CPU cooler that performs any differently than every other $40-50 CPU cooler?

Why am I not making videos about this stuff? Because it's BORING AS ALL HELL. The cost reductions that these companies are achieving through better manufacturing are being offset by the ever increasing cost of raw materials, so that's why we end up with effectively the same price and same performance year after year after year in these commodity categories.

I actually just had a meeting internally and we're killing off all-in-one liquid coolers as a review category unless someone comes up with something truly special or that we haven't reviewed before (like a triple 140mm or something). Why? Because I'm bored of them, and apparently so are you:

That video has lower engagement, and lower views than most of what we've released in the last month even though it's a solid cooler.

The way I see it, my job is to make entertaining videos about interesting tech. You might not personally have any use for a smart baby monitor or a triple 34" Eyefinity setup, but did you watch the video? Was the tech interesting? Were you not entertained?

we've been posting here for awhile and sales do go towards supporting LinusTechTips (hence "Industry Affiliate" label under our user account).

sorry for not being clear in this post, I think most of the regulars in the Hot Deals forum are aware though

someone also recommended last time to put "Sales help suppot LMG/LinusTechTips" but sometimes we forget to include that in for those that haven't seen before.

Frollard got a reaction from helping in Noctua NH-D15
The point of linus' tests is "make all the coolers silent and see how they perform".  You can ramp up the noctua fans to ridiculous rpm also, but he wants silent.
Also, the price ratio can be figured out after the fact.
The cooling/noise ratio is important, but only if you want to ramp it up, and that test is invalid because all the fans are swapped with noctua, because this is a silent build.
If you want it in a format of Dollars-per-Decibel-DeltaDegree-RPM it becomes a lot of tests that don't really tell you much.  By standardizing they at least eliminate sound at which point you can assume they will ALL perform better if you ramp it up.

Frollard got a reaction from Kamil in CapTherm about to start selling revolutionary multiphase CPU cooler
The only benefit I see is if you can get those tiny fins up to a ridiculously high temperature through efficient transfer of heat from the die, then it stands to transfer more heat to the air; heat transfer is reliant on the delta between the fin and the air, and higher delta caused by higher heat transfer to the fin, should result in hotter air coming off the rad.  Agreed it must be something magic if they expect it to be 10x better than existing phase change (read: heat pipes).
