  1. Thank you so much @berberries! Type 3 cable, got it. Have a nice day! (note to future posters: still listening for more replies in case of conflicting info)
  2. Hey guys, I want to replace a sata power cable on my old corsair h850. It is the old semi-modular 80+ gold variant with the blue text label. See: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Power-Supply-Units/hx-series-config/p/CP-9020032-NA I checked cable mod's website and attempt to find out what would be compatible so I could buy a cable through them, but I could not find any for the old hx units, only the hx platinum and hxi units. See: https://cablemod.com/compatibility/ I don't know where to go from here to determine compatibility. Can any of y'all help me out please? Thank you.

@ARikozuM Confused, not really. Worded in a way that I'm unsure of how the program will score the answer? Yes. In some questions I disagreed with the premise but agreed with the proposition (or vise versa). For example, the question about whether or not I agreed with religious values being taught in school. I believe in the separation of church and state (seemed like the primary objective of the question to gauge a value for how religious the person taking the test is, so strongly disagreed with the statement), but not all religious teachings are inherently spiritual. Some values derived from religion that relate to morality and some principles of social interaction (potentially religious values) are very important. Many aspects of history are heavily influenced by religion so an understanding about religious teachings at the time will improve depth of knowledge about history. For these reasons religion should be taught to some capacity (just leave out recruiting and unverifiable statements). So I marked agree even though I strongly believe in the separation of church in state (counter-intuitive since I would have marked strongly disagree when only focusing on what I believe the primary objective of the question is).

@DrMacintosh So if green is good and red is bad, what's purple? lol I used to be -0.25 right/left economically (green) last time I took this test (probably 2-3 years ago). Now I'm 0.5 (purple).

@ARikozuM That's logical. The relationship of unions and small government you outlined above sounds like a happy medium, but I don't understand why a government must provide rights for unions to organize. They should be able to just organize themselves without a government "allowing" them to do so. Side note: Why do people keep saying Fascism is right wing? What aspect of government sponsored corporatism is right wing? Corporations without any possible competition are effectively their own government without sovereignty (so not actually a government) within their own market(s). The Italians of the early 20th century don't stand out as bastions of "right wing" policy to me. I think we need to define "right" and "left" wing ideology in absence of authoritarian/libertarian tendencies.

@DrMacintosh I mostly agree, but not entirely. If a union theoretically gets too powerful it should face similar anti-trust regulations corporations are supposed to face when corporations grow big enough (for example, when working in a specific market without also being a union member is impossible).

    @TopHatProductions115 I want your thoughts spec…

@ARikozuM Big government or small government seems like a distraction to me when discussing unions (unless by big government you mean government effectively owns everything or nearly everything thus negates the negotiating power of the union). Unions have their place in most markets. As long as the right to work is preserved (for people that don't want to join a union) and unions aren't given any exclusive benefits from the government (ie: same campaign finance laws as any other corporation) then I see no problem with them. It's just another form of free market organization at work.
  10. Questions: 1) Are you dissatisfied with your current gaming performance (too much stutter, want higher graphics fidelity, want a higher frame rate)? 2) What is the refresh rate and resolution of your current monitor? My thoughts regardless of your response: High end Ryzen 3000 may actually be faster than the 9900k in generic gaming. We don't know either way right now. The Zen 2 CPUs release in less than 4 weeks. Lots of reviews will be released on launch day and more thorough independent reviews will likely release 3-7 days after launch. Even if top tier Ryzen 3000 CPUs aren't faster than the 9900k Intel will still be forced to lower prices significantly due to increased competition (probably ~$50-100 off current 9900k prices). You mentioned future proofing. More cores = more better since game engines will continue to utilize more cores as time passes. Ryzen 3000 will have up to 50% more cores compared to the 9900k at launch on July 7th (100% more cores whenever the 3950X launches in August/September/whenever). I've already started speculating. More speculation won't help at this point. It would be a bad idea not to wait since the Zen 2 launch is so close and you already have a decent gaming rig. If you do a lot work on your computer and you make A LOT of money that way that may change this conclusion.
  11. Off the top of my head I can be sure AsRock's X370 Taichi mobo has the hardware to handle Ryzen 3000 (within reason), I just don't know if they will support it with a new BIOS (they probably will but I have no way of knowing that). I'm sure there are other X370 Mobos that have the hardware to support higher end Ryzen 3000 CPUs as well, but I'm no expert and can't make a reliable list. Just don't expect to LN2 overclock a 3950X on any X370.
  12. Depends on the motherboard as well as the CPU. If you have a halfway-decent B450 board an 8 core Ryzen 3000 CPU should be fine assuming you don't do lots of overclocking. A 12 core is probably ok if the VRM on board is good, you have a little bit or airflow over the VRM heatsinks, and you don't do much (if any) overclocking. A crappy B450 board may burn up with powerful CPU.
  13. Pretty much, but not that cut and dry. X370/B350 chipset is not be required by AMD to support Ryzen 3000, but individual OEMs can support it if they want (if the slide below is correct):
  14. Ah, much better. If you can make the computer boot Windows 98, Windows 2000, or MS Dos from a floppy disk you're golden. EDIT: Actually, do use a RAID 0 array with an SSD and HDD, but only for storage not for booting. Floppy disk for booting (If that's even possible? Never looked into but I don't see why it can't be done). EDIT 2: Ok, so never mind on the OS suggestions I striked out above unless you only want to run DOOM. Seems like Windows 8 would work best to be compatible with modern games... AND because if it is at all possible to get a touch screen monitor working with windows 8 on this PC it would become weird^(weird power).

    1) Windows 7 2) That CPU temperature 3) DDR@200 MHz? 4) That CPU/GPU pair. It bottlenecks like a giraffe's neck stuck in a glass coca-cola bottle. 5) Why does the GTX 1080 ti only have 3 GB of VRAM? 6) 74 GB is a small SSD. So, you're not worried about filling most of the drive space and potentially rewriting the same cells repeatedly (shortening the life of the drive)? Did I miss anything?
  16. The problem with that statement is that you can literally use that same phrase and just replace "Jews" with any group of people by race, religion, or creed and add/misconstrue any form of controversy to describe anyone or anything by categorical relation (from an intersectionalist perspective). For example: Replace "Jews" with "Whites" and explain the historical context of colonialism and the Crusades. Replace "Jews" with "Blacks" and talk about the instability of African Governments. Replace "Jews" with "Capitals" and portray the supporters of it as selfish and greedy pigs that would enslave the world for profit without any care for humanity. Replace "Jews" with "Communists" and say that all communists would kill millions to gain authoritative control to make everyone else equal in the status quo of poverty. Replace "Jews" with "Islam" and provide examples of extreme religious conservatism. Replace "Jews" with "Hindus" and demonstrate the continued cycle of poverty created by the caste system. Replace "Jews" with "Japanese" and mention the mass slaughters when Japan invaded China just before the US entered WWII. Yet in all of the above examples any individual that may fall underneath any label is probably a decent human being with life experiences totally seperate from the modern or historical controversy associated with their supposed group. TL;DR - The most oppressed minority is the individual - not the group they belong to. Don't judge anyone by group identity at face value. You never know who your talking to or what they may know until you speak with them. Tread lightly and keep preconceived notions to a minimum when addressing people because the chances are the group-related notions are wrong especially when applied to an individual.
  17. Knowing how crazy some "journalists" are for a hit piece I wouldn't be surprised if a payment was made to someone with a botnet by one the writers for the strict purpose of generating an exploitable news story. Maybe said writer(s) made the comments with an anonymous account(s) themself(s). I've seen worse actions taken by individuals in the media in the past. Alternatively this could have been legit. The internet should never cease to surprise anyone.
  18. Historically "Jews" have been stereotyped by certain generalized character traits, physical features, and trends from their people regardless of the scope of exaggeration involved in said stereotypes. I will not repeat any slanders used against them on this forum. Some people believe that people of Jewish lineage/faith have a disproportionate amount of wealth/power for stereotypical reasons and associate that with said historic slanders to form a negative opinion about "Jews" in general. TL;DR people are jealous, fickle, and willing to blame/slander others before actually considering whether or not they are the problem in their own lives (not always the problem but often times the case).

@DrMacintosh Don't forget that a highly complicated tax code benefits big businesses that can afford tax attorneys, accountants, and agents to find just the right combination of tax loopholes to almost totally avoid taxes! That's a massive competitive advantage compared to small businesses that can't afford tax attorneys, accountants, or agents.

"Our platform vision for Stadia is to reduce th…

I think Stadia is more of a mixed bag (as opposed to all-good/all-bad light many people cast on it). PROs: Non-mobile developers can finally get some of that sweet sweet hype and instant gratification money currently enriching the mobile market right now. Could lead to more indi-developers and more creative development in gaming. Cross platform gaming will ABSOLUTELY be much improved. Developers will FINALLY support more screen resolutions (21:9/32:9)! Different Stadia warehouse locations will likely use different hardware based of different TCO from suppliers in the different warehouse regions (think other countries), so improved hardware support will likely develop for all PC CPU/GPU/OS combos. Internet providers will finally be forced to upgrade the ancient telecommunication lines used today. CONs: This further fuels the instant-gratification epidemic that plagues the population. People already can't see past their noses/seflie-cameras. If this continues to get worse EVERYONE will have a bad time in life. Games with any sort of preconceived controversy will cease to exist when Stadia streaming accounts for 20% of gaming revenue at any point in time. If (and when) that happens everyone will develop with Stadia in mind and Google will ban games from Stadia for any reason at all if there is public outcry. This will further the outbreak of crappy games that rely even more on in-app purchases than now and could possibly turn the non-mobile gaming sector into the mobile gaming mess we see today from large developers receiving a GOLDEN opportunity to become more greedy. All large developers will become more greedy, indi-developers may catch a break (as long as game is very vanilla i.e. no controversy), but mid-sized developers will fall through the cracks since only large teams from entrenched large companies will be able to compete for Stadia warehouse hardware resources. This last point WILL eliminate complex/resource intense single player games from the market today almost entirely. What am I missing? I feel like I'm missing something but can't quite put my finger on it. EDIT: ah... region locking and loot boxes. Some interesting court cases may arise from those issues becoming magnified.
  22. Sadly it seems not one, but 348 idiots thought this was a good idea.
  23. The drive the OS is installed to will be the boot drive by default. If the other drive (not the NVMe one) is also new, get into Windows, right click on the windows start button in the bottom left corner of the screen, and click on disk management: Then go to your other drive that has a black label and the text about unallocated space, right click it, and then click "new simple volume." Just follow the setup wizard from there. Don't forget to name the drive and select your desired drive letter in the setup wizard!
