  1. I'm sorry that I am replying to this so late, I haven't been on these forums for quite a while, however the content of your comment has compelled me to reply. For clarifications sake, I do not believe the 780ti at $700 represents 'maximum value for money' (nor indeed a 290x for a similar price), and I personally do not own nor have any intentions to purchase a 780ti. I simply believe that as the 780ti was at the time the most powerful video card available, a high price tag isn't particularly unreasonable. I even suggested better value high end cards that were well within your budget and were still a huge upgrade on your 460, and yet I was greeted by a sarcastic and ignorant comment..... annoying.
  2. It's very hard to predict, but it's not gonna happen without good reason. With the high demand for AMD cards for currency mining atm driving prices up I wouldn't expect a significant price drop any time soon. If $500 is your budget, you could easily get a 780. For just over $300 a 770. In my opinion both a 780 and a 770 are fairly high end and will be a HUGE upgrade over a 460. In my opinion $670+ for a 780ti is not ridiculous. If you want the absolute best video card on the market, you should expect to pay a premium.
  3. Ok, he's decided he's just gonna get a mATX case and if he doesnt have to get a new mobo thats just a bonus. Because he was a noob. He says he won't be doing so in the future! The PSU does come out and everything, but he's getting a new PSU anyway to accommodate his new graphics card. He's really only saving his CPU, mechanical hard drives and maybe his mobo.
  4. So a while ago my friend bought a pre built Dell machine (this one: http://www.pcworld.com/product/788982/xps-8300-midsize-tower-desktop.htmlhttp://www.pcworld.com/product/788982/xps-8300-midsize-tower-desktop.html). He's decided he wants to start tinkering with it, adding an SSD, replacing the graphics card etc, and has now decided he wants to re-case it also. Looking at the computer, it's pretty much an mATX sized machine, but with it being an OEM motherboard, I'm not confident I have the experience to say it'd be fine in an mATX case like he'd prefer. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? Would he be better off just getting a new motherboard? Thanks in advance for any help!
