Brian McKee got a reaction from LAwLz in AMD Ryzen HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED!!!
Anyone not expecting something like this had their head in the clouds. There's no way an 8 core 16 thread is going to beat or even match a 4 core/8thread CPU in non multithreaded optimized loads. The quadcore just has more headroom for higher clocks while the 8 core is far more of a generalist CPU.

But this is why I think the 6 core offering will be much more popular from AMD, still benefits from the additional cores but will close the gap in terms of raw gaming performance.

Not a fair comparison because Bulldozer was actually shit. Ryzen is poised to be incredibly good.

Facts are facts and the benchmarks used by AMD were industry standards. While I still think it's wise to wait for unbiased and well conducted reviews before EVER committing money to something like this, there's almost no doubt in my mind that these chips are going to cause an uproar.

As for your concern on pricing, the reason they can price these so low is because of great yields obviously, and the fact that intel has no doubt been price gouging due to a complete lack of real competition. GloFo's 14nm yields have been insanely good so there's probably very little lost per wafer.

You should really do your research on this stuff before talking about it but no that's not how it works. Higher minimum wage means more people are buying more goods which means higher demand and higher profits. Companies don't really lose money and mass layoffs aren't going to happen from a minimum wage increase.

Also I don't care if you fucking think it's a profession or not, people have to live. It might be easy to hold your position where you stand now but not everyone is as fortunate as you.

A 6950 until recently was almost 80 bucks which is awful when you consider the fact that all driver support is gone, it doesn't support GCN, any Vulkan support will be shoddy as hell (if there is any) and performance is lackluster. People overprice used shit constantly.

And I just looked up the 6990, people trying to sell it for over 100 when you can buy a GTX 960, GTX 770 or r9 280x for the same friggin price.

Brian McKee got a reaction from cj09beira in AMD New Horizon
They used 2 different benchmarks, one with integers and one with floating point. The CPU was also intentionally crippled. The only thing that could possibly be skewed is that this is just incredibly binned silicon for the power draw...

It IS an advantage, holy shit you're thick headed. If both the products were out of the box performance than by using your BRAIN wouldn't you assume that Ryzen would have the performance edge? If you're implying comparing clocks between entirely different architectures means literally anything at all then you don't know very much.

What we know from the benchmarks right now is that Ryzen at the very least matches the 6900k with lower TDP and without boosting up AT ALL.
