  1. I would go with 2 but maybe not half the price. Amd needs the money. More like 2/3s or 1/4.
  2. I just used a gridlayout in android for a sudoku project. It contains the 81 text boxes for a real game of sudoku. Just curious what the difference is between them. Looking on the web and I didn't find anything to useful.
  3. This is a good monitor! I have it and am very pleased. Though I am made because I got it for 475ish open box from newegg a month or so ago which I thought was a great deal then. The high refresh rate is awesome and good bright display. Makes my old dell u2312hm seem less vibrant, un-smooth, and grainy. Though pixel density wise it wasn't a huge jump
  4. That's still out of your price range. Shouldn't of changed your decision. Unless your thought was use a 1-2tb hhd for storage and just settle for ssd for os and programs.
  5. Haha no. Yeah I thought about that but this is for the Command Prompt. More specifically I'm trying to make a .bat file and this is a small part of it. Trying to change the pdf default program using Windows commands.

    FTYPE for PDF

    Can't get the ftype for pdf. These are the commands I tried. ftype PDF File ftype "PDF File" ftype PDF They all return null Hope this is the right place to post this question
  7. Yeah amd just needs to compete high end. I hope it isn't cause they are waiting on hbm2. Forget hbm2 and release a card with GDDR5 or 5x. Then later when it is ready release that. They just can't afford to wait.
  8. That would be cool. Yeah fake the system into thinking it's just one giant pool of graphics horse power. Like raid 1 for hard drives. Probably be way easier to program for. . I don't know though. I'm not an engineer.
  9. I'm trying to make an android app connection to a sql server database. The problem is I don't think I have the driver configured correctly cause every time I hit the submit button I get this error in the Log: 07-01 15:24:59.010 29438-29438/com.example.joell.jdatabaseconnect W/Error connection: No suitable driver I got the latest driver off this sit. https://sourceforge.net/projects/jtds/files/jtds/1.3.1/ I put just the jar file into libs in android studio and right clicked it and added it to dependencies. The jar file is currently called jtds.jar Ignore the fact the database and server fields are left blank. public class MainActivity extends AppCompatActivity { String driver = "jdbc:jtds"; private String server = ""; private String database = ""; private String userName = ""; private String password = ""; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); try { Class.forName("net.sourceforge.jtds.jbdc.Driver").newInstance(); } catch (InstantiationException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IllegalAccessException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } public void SubmitOnClick(View v){ TextView uName = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.txvUsername); userName = uName.getText().toString(); EditText pass = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.editText); password = pass.getText().toString(); try{ Connection DbConn = DriverManager.getConnection(driver +":" + server + "/" + database + ";user=" + userName + ";password=" + password ); Toast.makeText(MainActivity.this, "Connected!", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); }catch (Exception e){ Log.w("Error connection", "" + e.getMessage()); Toast.makeText(MainActivity.this, e.toString(), Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } } }
  10. I know. I just wanted to hide this embarrassment. I'm really not a .net noob. Well maybe a bit. I've just always wondered where but never looked hard for it.
  11. Lol. That's what the System.Drawing.Point is for. Derp. Thanks. Now tell me how to delete this post.
  12. Where in a visual studio project is a windows forms control position located at? It's not the form's designer. Like if you have a control located at the top right. Where during compile time or run time does it look to see where the control is located?
  13. I'm obsessed with this design. Like a couple months back I was bidding on ebay to get the 290 with this cooler and I lost by seconds. Glad I didn't get it cause performance per dollar not so great. Plus it is an outdated card. I just love the look and it would look sick in my case or any for that matter. I still go back and look at those cards just to drool at their sexiness. Please sapphire bring them back.
  14. Good point about the experience. I converted 33,000 pounds to US currency and that comes to 47,309.30. So around the 50,000 that I mentioned earlier. Though I am taking that calculation with a grain of salt since inflation is a factor. 50,000 in the US might seem big but maybe not in UK. likewise the other way around. So is 40,000 US reasonable or laughable do you think? To me that seems fair but obviously not confident about what I think. Thanks for your answer BTW EDIT Yeah 40,000 seems to high after running some numbers. Maybe I can try for 35,000. Right now my pay comes out to 33,280 on a salary. I think I won't try higher than the 35,000 though.
  15. I'll get right to it. I'm a part time employee for a company located in Indiana. I go to school in Illinois though. (Yeah, I can explain later). Anyway I started there beginning of last month and I am almost done with school. When I got that job as a Programmer Analyst I told them my number one priority was to finish my Associates Degree in Computer Programming and Database Development at my local community collage. They told me they definitely wanted me to finish and that it should be my priority so they've been rather flexible and understanding with me and my schedule. I really like the company and it is like my dream job. Truly a dream come true not even to graduate yet and have a job I dreamed about lined up for me right after school. I've always been worried about not being able to get a job with my lack of experience and only am associates degree even though my professor at school and some others said I will do fine. When this opportunity came up I couldn't let it pass me by. I love working there for various reasons so I want to stay there. Now for the problem. Since school is about over they want to sit down with me soon and talk about my future at the company. Mainly if I want to continue with them, and if they like me enough to continue which they seem to. The problem is salary since that will and should be discussed. As a programmer with only three years of experience(Started around senior year of high school and 2 years at collage) I feel like I'm not worth a whole lot. I don't want to ask for to much that I look greedy and ungrateful but I don't want to go to low that I'm not happy down the road. My Uncle is the CFO currently and oversees the IT department(though they are moving him to a newer position still on the board) and that is kinda why I got the job plus they really needed a programmer at the time. They just hired a new one last week after a long while of searching so I might not be as needed. The company is a good size company. They have several locations in the US with about 250 families involved and currently they are growing with a bright future ahead which is why they can afforded some extra programmers. This couldn't be said a few years ago. Also they currently pay me about 16 dollars an hour which plugged into a calculator online would come to around 33,280 yearly. They would put me on a salary vs an hourly when I'm out of school. I thought 40,000 a year sounded reasonable but I look online and 50,000 seems what most entry level programmers get paid. But they have a bachelors... So what are your thoughts and suggestions? I've never bartered salary and don't know if I should ask high or start reasonable. How should I go about it? Also since my Uncle will most likely be in on the conversation this makes it even more awkward. Sorry this is so long but I have to give you all of it so you know my situation and can provide me better help which I would greatly appreciate
  16. using System; namespace ConsoleApplication1 { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { string userData = ""; Console.Write("Please enter some data and hit enter: "); userData = Console.ReadLine(); Console.WriteLine(userData); Console.ReadKey(); } } }
  17. Thanks everyone for your awesome help. Totally understand the concept now. I will stick to the properties way in C# a. cause they use them where I work, b. cause it looks cleaner, c. because convince. I understand there is more reason why I should/might use properties over typical methods for getters/setters but those are the main reasons why I'm going to try and use them.
  18. Now that I get it I agree with you! Java needs this feature.
  19. Hi, I'm currently at a new job and developing in c# is one of the things they are having me doing. Today I was looking at some of their code and found a getter/setter propertie thing(not method supposedly) that I have not seen before. I decided to type a program that would demonstrate the old way(my way or like java) and C# new way(like what I found in their code). using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Threading.Tasks; namespace SandBox { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { GettersSetters myGS = new GettersSetters(); myGS.count = 3; Console.WriteLine(myGS.count); } } public class GettersSetters { private int num = 5; //Old way public int getCount() { return num; } //Old way public void setCount(int num) { this.num = num; } //New way public int count { get{ return this.num; } set{ num = value; } } } So what is different between the two ways? What is the difference between a properties and fields? Which way should I do it? As you can tell I'm really confused. I have a vb, java, and python background so this is new to me.
  20. Don't know C but here is a small script I wrote in python def getCode(character): character = character.lower() code = "" if character == "a": code = ".-" elif character == "b": code = "-..." elif character == "c": code = "-.-." elif character == "d": code = "-.." elif character == "e": code = "." elif character == "f": code = "..-." elif character == "g": code = "--." elif character == "h": code = "...." elif character == "i": code = ".." elif character == "j": code = ".---" elif character == "k": code = "-.-" elif character == "l": code = ".-.." elif character == "m": code = "--" elif character == "n": code = "-." elif character == "o": code = "---" elif character == "p": code = ".--." elif character == "q": code = "--.-" elif character == "r": code = ".-." elif character == "s": code = "..." elif character == "t": code = "-" elif character == "u": code = "..-" elif character == "v": code = "...-" elif character == "w": code = ".--" elif character == "x": code = "-..-" elif character == "y": code = "-.---" elif character == "z": code = "--.." else: code = "" return code running = True while (running == True): userInput = input("Please enter a phrase to convert to morse code or type e to quit: ") if (userInput == "e"): running = False else: morseCode = "" for i in userInput: if i != " ": morseCode += getCode(i) + " " else: morseCode += "| " print(morseCode + "\n")
  21. Yay new design! Wasn't big on the looks of their old ones
