  1. I don't understand how people can possibly be so pessimistic about this news? If Microsoft didn't do this, then 4-5 years down the road you will all be complaining how Microsoft intentionally gimped Windows 9 scaling/resolution support to force you to by the next version which would have better scaling support. Microsoft could cure cancer and I'm sure some of you would still complain about it.
  2. Since when is 18,000 half of 125,000? Might want to check your math.
  3. Clearly Microsoft should hire you as their financial analyst and adviser. You obviously have top expertise and decades of experience in financial decision making. Microsoft has never ever been a financially successful company. I bet if they hired you, they would shoot straight to the top and become the most financially successful tech company of all time, all thanks to your financial expertise.
  4. Can you define the age range of "kid"? Also I found it difficult to read your writing. Can you link to an actual article?
  5. *Citation needed. As they say, ignorance is bliss.
  6. The company I work for has 2 CEOs, and we're a pretty well managed place.
  7. @LAwLz pretty much said all there is to say you about why you're wrong. But I just want to add that in innocent until proven guilty system, the burden of evidence/burden of proof is on the plaintiff. The defendant has zero obligation to assist the plaintiff. Also, statements a person makes matter just as much as the actual facts. Why do you think people are wrongly convicted? Because sometimes there isn't all the facts, and a decision has to made on judgement. Which is why the statements made are crucial.
  8. Government wouldn't ask for things out of the blue? You're right, they don't ask, they just take it all warrantlessly.
  9. So you know which direct positions in Microsoft are being terminated? Microsoft is not stupid to layoff their needed programmers. Being able to produce good products is not about having the largest number of employees. Having too many is a hindrance to productivity, especially when it is middle-management type positions which reduce agility in decision making. Even after the job cuts Microsoft will still have more employees than Apple (including Apple retail employees) and more than double the amount of employees at Google.
  10. You know Microsoft is paying over $1 Billion to the employees being laid off right? That amounts to an average of about $55,000 per employee.
  11. These job cuts are from the 18,000 Microsoft announced in July. They are not additional to the ones already announced, they are just doing the cuts in phases since there are so many of them. In July they let around 13,000 go, and in this wave they are letting 2,100 go, and they will let more go later on until they reach the 18,000. Just want to make that clear for people who think that this is even more added to the 18,000, it is not.
  12. I feel like @LinusTech should ban some of the posters in this thread. Some of you seriously need to give your head a shake. Edit: I see now the mods have come in and removed the highly inappropriate posts.
  13. Microsoft stuff tends to get leaked because they will send copies to OEMs like Dell, HP, and other business partners (so they can test the new software for compatibility and whatnot), and rogue employees at those OEMs (where security may be less strict than at Microsoft itself) will leak it.
  14. This will be free for Office 365 subscribers. Quick note, it still supports dark gray, light gray, and white color schemes in addition to the very dark one in the screenshots.
  15. How has AMD ever been proprietary? AMD's HD3D is non-proprietary, AMD's FreeSync is non-proprietary, AMD's TressFX is non-proprietary, AMD's Mantle is non-proprietary....
  16. Sony has really dropped the ball in recent years. Which is a shame because they use to make great hardware. I had a bookshelf stereo from them in 2001 and it worked flawlessly for 13 years. But I guess when you engage in extreme anti-consumer practices its difficult for me to feel bad for you. 1. Installing rootkit malware on consumers computers via CDs they bought 2. Removing advertised features from a device after it has been bought (Linux support force removed from PS3) 3. Advertising 4K recording support for your camera as a free firmware update, then charging hundreds of dollars for it months later Among many other general scummy things they have done.
  17. Where's the gold Deifne R4 you ask? Well, go to Gatti and ask him to make one for you. I'm sure he wouldn't decline.
  18. My Office 365 subscription expired 5 months ago and I can still use it fully functional, I just get a box when I start the application saying that its expired, then I just close the box and continue on... It might give you a dialog box that it needs to connect but it won't stop you from being able to use it.
  19. It's not dependence, it's I don't want to spend time organizing a myriad of documents into different folders on my desktop PC when I can just organize it into sections and pages in a digital notebook and have far more useful functionality. OneNote syncs everything across all devices and the OneNote website. I never have to worry about multiple/outdated copies of things. I never have to worry about fragmentation. OneNote also integrates with the other Office applications. If I'm viewing a page in the notebook I can just hit "Email page" and I can send it off to another person seamlessly. You can add "Tags" to lines such as a check-able checkbox which is useful in making lists of things that need to be done/bought, etc. (Really useful for keeping track of bills that need to be paid) There are lots of other types of tags that are useful. You can import Excel tables, Visio diagrams, there is infinite space in all directions for writing. Importing screenshots/screen clips can be done simply. Below is a screenshot of an actual .vsdx diagram imported into OneNote and then as an example you can draw on it within OneNote and then say use "Email Page" button to shoot it off to a colleague. That is an example of functionality in OneNote that simply cannot be done in any other single program. You're probably going to say "That use-case would never apply to me" and it may not, but OneNote is still far more efficient even for the basics.
  20. Jesus. This is why we can't have nice things. People overreact to the stupidest shit. You're teacher touched you to put in a certain position for a demonstration? Cry me a river. Kids are so ungrateful for what they have, be happy you even have the opportunity to attend a school in a developed country because there are billions who don't even have schools to attend.
  21. Jesus. You must be some kind of prodigy to be able to maintain an entire notebook's worth of writings and ideas all in your head and at the front of your memory. Although, I'm still trying to figure out how the things that can be done in OneNote can be done manually with folders on a computer? That's like saying the things that can be done in Photoshop can be done with MS Paint. It just doesn't even make sense.
  22. I was at a friend's and his Xbox One controller had a USB port/cable, I wonder if there is something different in the PCB that makes the regular XB1 controller not work on PC, or does it?
