  1. Actively helping the current most ruthless and dangerous terrorist group in the world is not a "mistake". That's the action of yet another youth who hasn't learned that he isn't untouchable yet. Although I reckon he's learned that at this point now.
  2. Then by your very explanation, there is zero need to call the on-phone data "unlimited" because it cannot or will not reach levels that would be considered "unlimited-tier". If what you say is correct about 21 GB then they should just sell it as 25 GB or something. Point being, if they aren't going to offer unlimited then they shouldn't call it unlimited. But it still is possible to rack up huge amounts of data. Phones are coming with 4K screens now, and we have 4K YouTube and Netflix to stream on them. It doesn't matter if its practical or not. They can't say "We're offering unlimited data, but don't do anything of these things that would actually rack up a ton of data." Its not unlimited then.
  3. Does it say what country the employees are in? The only part that seems off is that they can be laid off without severance pay.
  4. Just wanted to address what others are saying about the "unlimited on smartphone" vs tethering thing. It doesn't matter if its coming from a tethered device. If T-Mobile is capable of offering UNLIMITED data to the smartphone, then when its going to a device tethered to the smartphone is irrelevant, ITS STILL GOING THROUGH THE SMARTPHONE REGARDLESS. So T-Mobile is saying that if those users racked up 2 TB of usage just "on the smartphone" and not via tethering that it would be 100% OK, because its not tethered? That's complete BS, and a technicality they are using to their advantage because they know they can't offer unlimited but they also know most people can't rack up that much just on the smartphone itself so they just put the "UNLIMITED" word there as marketing bullshit to make it seem better than it is. EITHER THEY HAVE THE ABILITY TO OFFER UNLIMITED OR THEY DON'T. If they don't want to hold up their end of the deal then they need to change it from "unlimited" to something like "200 GB". You can't just change the definition of words because marketing.
  5. Not even defending T-Mobile because they said unlimited (for a 24/7 service) so they can't complain when people use it. But just wanted to point out that most buffets are all you can eat within a time frame. Usually 2-4 hours.
  6. Quoted for truth. You two get it. Honestly I'll be surprised if much comes from this simply because its Apple and Apple has rarely ever given 2 craps about the business/enterprise side of things. Although, if its Cisco that will be doing most of the heavy lifting then maybe it will be good after all.
  7. The logo on the back is actually the Microsoft logo (4 normal squares) the 4 squares at a perspective angle is the Windows logo. So they actually are correct.
  8. Sounds like what you're describing is DNS and FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fully_qualified_domain_name Edit: @Trik'Stari you can check the hostname of your WAN IP address, use this site: http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip-hostname That will show the DNS hostname of your WAN IP but nothing on your LAN/local side. Fun fact: most of the richest people in world came from average or below average families. Why? Because for some people who experience the lows in life know what's its like and are willing to do anything to not have to stay there. Just as one example, since I'm not going to list examples all night, check out Tony Robbins. "He has said his home life was "chaotic" and "abusive." When he was 17 years old, Robbins' mother chased him out of the house with a knife, and he never returned.[4] Robbins later worked as a janitor, and did not attend college.[4]" Today he is worth $500 Million.
  9. Do you mean in regards to OS updates through Windows Update? Because here they are now allowing disabling of auto updates on Win10 home but only for Windows Store apps.
  10. Microsoft has now decided with update KB3081448 released Aug. 27th 2015 that Windows 10 Home users can now disable Windows Store apps from auto updating. Note that Windows Update is still automatic, meaning OS updates. I can confirm this as I have Windows 10 Home on my laptop and the option is no longer greyed out in Windows Store settings, but I left it enabled anyway since I don't want to be bothered to keep checking for app updates. Edit: This seems to highlight a problem with them no longer documenting what updates actually do. I had no idea after installing KB3081448 that I could now disable Windows Store auto updates. I had to go to tech news sites to find that out. Source: http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-will-finally-allow-you-to-defer-app-updates-on-windows-10
  11. Maybe you can all tell me more about how stupid Valve is for making all their PC games Steam exclusive? Or nah?
  12. Read the posts me and GoodBytes already made on this thread. Adobe doesn't actually care if people say it or not, they just need to be able to show that they make efforts to protect their trademark or else they can lose it.
  13. That is literally straight off their legal page on their website. There's a 99.99% chance its only there "because lawyers". And the fact that trademarks can be lost if not protected. But yeah, I completely doubt Adobe actually gives a flying shit, at all. It's more obligatory/formality than anything.
  14. That is a completely different scenario from what I described. In the video the guy speaking clearly states that he has to make the claim on his insurance because the damage is on his car even though he had nothing to do with it getting damaged. Which is exactly what I was saying in my post. It doesn't matter by who or how your car got damaged, it comes off your own insurance. Likewise, if piracy is happening on your connection, you're going to be on the hook for it regardless by who or how it happened. In the video they can't issue a citation to the hit and runner because he can't be identified. Likewise if someone pirates on your connection that person that did it isn't liable because they can't be identified, its the person who's name is on the account for the connection. Make sense yet?
  15. Well, the school may receive a notice but if the school can prove they aren't tolerating it (either by expelling the student or blocking P2P traffic, etc.) then they'll probably get off the hook. But I know the college I went to used to get copyright infringement notices from students pirating so they basically said anybody caught pirating can be expelled, in order to protect the school from being sued.
  16. I've never tried the game just based on the fact that they shamelessly use a female with huge tits in their ads for it.
  17. This is what people don't seem to understand. As the account holder it is your responsibility to secure it. For analogy, if you let someone else drive your car and they crash it, the costs still come off your insurance, not theirs.
  18. Shit... I didn't see it since it's not in Tech News and Reviews section.
  19. What is wrong with people... Weapons seized. How out of touch with reality do you have to be to want to shoot up a Pokemon tournament? It doesn't look like they are being charged with anything related to conspiring to commit, just the gun charges. Which is a shame since they'll probably be getting off lighter than otherwise. 20. Tell me more about how Microsoft cares about what porn you watch. Guess what, they don't. They collect information for diagnostics/telemetry and information that is directly needed to provide a service such as Cortana features. You honestly think they're just harvesting data because they care about what you're up to? You're not that special. None of us are.
  21. The funny part is you all get worked up about "spying", while using the internet and Android phones. The NSA is literally tapping the internet fiber lines. It doesn't matter what OS or software you use. Don't want your information collected? Don't use the internet. Period. No amount of FOSS will protect you. By the way, these updates appear to just be for diagnostics/telemetry data so that's no big deal really. I love how overly dramatic people are that diagnostics and telemetry is now "spying". Bring on the hate.
  22. Its not a justification of what a company is doing, its pointing out the hypocrisy of people. If you want to claim that MS is wrong for doing something, but give another company doing the same things a free pass then you don't actually care about the issue, you're just a fanboy. (Not saying you specifically.)
  23. I agree. It's highly suspicious that Google keeps making more and more parts of the Android experience closed-source. What are they trying to hide from the public that they are turning everything closed source?
  24. The fact that you think technical writing is that easy shows you really don't understand technical writing. It requires an understanding of the software almost on par with the developers themselves. You can't write about things you don't understand. And knowing how to use the software doesn't constitute understanding it. There's a lot more to technical writing than "Update X fixes Y bug." Anybody can do that. You're also creating documentation both internal and external and/or writing books. Good documentation, yes, is an actual skill. Trust me, I do work for Avaya and our support engineers (in relation to service requests, not product documentation) write their own documentation in the KB and the overwhelming majority of it is awful, from formatting to spelling and grammar to inclusion of all relevant details and to the actual clarity of the text. In Canada the average salary for a technical writer is $54,380, the average salary for a senior technical writer is $69,683 and maxing out at $88,864. You don't get paid that much for a job that is easy to do. http://www.payscale.com/research/CA/Job=Senior_Technical_Writer/Salary Anyone who works in IT can tell you how critically important good documentation is and how awful most people are at it.
  25. And? Google scans every word of your emails for advertising. Google knows everything you type into their search. Google knows every place you go in real life 24/7 if you have an Android phone. Literally every single thing you touch/click/view/download on an Android phone Google knows about it. Google knows where you work and where you live even if you've never told them, just based off of GPS coordinates and where you stay at certain hours of the day and for how long.
