  1. haha this is too funny. I had the same problem and I loosened the screws a little bit and wrapped a rubber band around them then tightened them a bit. Some fans come with vibration dampening attachments and sadly mine didn't work too well so this is what I cam up with.
  2. I'll try to keep this concise. I accidentally turned off my surge protector and since then when my secondary drive (HDD) is plugged in I cant get my PC to post and I have the error code '99' in the bottom right corner. I troubleshooted for a couple hours and this is what is happening: HDD completely disconnected = PC boots no problem HDD connected = error 99, no boot HDD disconnected --> boot into Windows --> connect HDD = no problem HDD disconnected --> boot into Windows --> connect HDD --> PC off and PSU OFF --> PSU ON and PC on = error 99 HDD disconnected --> boot into Windows --> connect HDD --> PC off and KEEP PSU ON --> PC on = PC boots slower When I can get into Windows with the HDD connected CrystalDiskInfo says the HDD is healthy. Also interesting note, before clearing the CMOS I was able to get into the BIOS and the HDD was detected but then it wouldn't finish and boot into windows. Since clearing the CMOS I have not been able to get into the BIOS after the PSU has been switched off and the HDD plugged in. This drive is not corrupted or damaged but it doesn't like something about being boot up for the first time at the same time as the PC. Being boot up after the PC is on is totally fine. Thank you in advance to the kind sir who helps me BIOS: V25.4 MB: MSI 970A Krait edition CPU: AMD Fx-8350 RAM: 8x2Gb DDR3 Patriot Viper GPU: MSI Aero 1070 1Tb Samsung evo (Boot Drive) 1Tb WD Blue (Problem Drive) PSU: 500W SPI Magna Platinum
  3. I'm a senior in high school about to go to college and my parents want to buy me a laptop as a graduation gift. I'm looking online and can't seem to find what I'd like. I'm trying to find a thin and light laptop with small bezels and doesn't need to be a performance model with lots of power behind it. I don't really care about battery life, but having more battery, and maybe 120hz or 144hz would be nice. I don't need to play games on it, that's what my desktop is for :) Does anyone have a laptop in mind that fits this? There's so many on the market it's hard to keep track of them and actually sift through the unnecessary ones. Thanks!
  4. Yes, everything is normal, it might be something about the combination of my provider + my computer because the other computers at our house are fine and when I took my pc to a friends house it was faster. Thanks for the help guys.
  5. no, I eventually want to upgrade but they haven't given me problems until now
  6. Yes, Windows 10 and i have 16Gb of DDR3 Patriot Viper Memory. Not sure the speeds on it but it may be slow because of the brand and the discount I got on it.
  7. I also ran Malwarebytes and get a few things off but there's little to no change.
  8. speedtests are fine i get 350 down and 36 up. ill try the viruses
  9. did a side by side and chrome was barely faster
  10. I just switched but nothing looks to have chaged
  11. haven't yet, I'll try right now, and I'm wired
  12. it usually says "waiting for *insert website here*"
  13. In the past few weeks, Chrome has been insanely slow, like 10 seconds to load a new page slow. In task manager, my CPU is at like 20% load and chrome isn't using any out of the ordinary number for loads or anything. It also isn't my internet so it has to be something Chrome specific. Used to be perfect and I don't have any viruses as far as I (and my PC) know. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks!! CPU : AMD fx 8350 MB: MSI 970A Krait Samsung evo 1tb & WD blue 1tb
  14. I'm helping a friend who knows nothing about computers with building one and I haven't paid much attention to hardware since I built mine a few years ago. Is 8Gb of DDR4 RAM enough for an ok gaming/all-around use PC nowadays? is 16Gb pretty much required now? I have 16Gb of DDR3 and I never max out but RAM is an unknown field of PCs to me. I can find some specific ones myself but I need a little bit of help with the different clock speeds and DDR3 v. DDR4. Thanks!
  15. Is that the only ergonomic mouse you've heard of? There's much more that have a more extreme ergonomic feel and less expensive. I don't care about quality, I have a good mouse at home for that. I'm looking for one that won't give me muscle fatigue at 1 hour of use. Even though the one Anghammarad is from China and a small and I might get it because of price.
  16. I just started working a part-time desk job and the mouse that I'm using kills my hand and fingers after only a little bit of use time (1-2 hours). Does anyone know of a cheap and really ergonomic mouse? I'm thinking one that's tilted and around $10. Thanks!!!
  17. Lols yeah I'm pricing out ram right now
  18. OK thanks, everyone! I think the i3-8350 is the one for me. Thanks for the clarification and everything!

  20. oh thanks, then why is it an "i3", Isn't that the whole point of the name? lol
  21. won't the 2 cores be a drag? I haven't even looked at the i3's because of that.
