  1. actually the difficulty comes in with things like boost times, and the sort, especially with the confusion surrounding tdp measurements
  2. i agree, and the 212 is a great base line cooler to test with a gradient of cpu's. Stock, mild and high overclock, 40 dba normalized and max fan speed on that one cooler.
  3. all in one PC for graphic design.... doesn't sound like it exists at all, at least none that id recommend they all have some T edition processor that seems cut down and the price to performance is horrible compared to an itx or small tower plus a monitor. can i ask why you want an aio specifically
  4. lol probably should move your battle station to the living room and go regular on the home office setup, seems cheaper to me... lol just a suggestion, streaming adds latency, and a full gaming system, has a cost factor and the fact that u gotta now keep two systems of games updated
  5. honstly, i agree with @dizmo, you can save a bunch of cash on the motheboard and can do 50 buks better on the 3600, minus the X, tho it seems money isn't the issue to you so id go c16 on the ram instead, but you are really fine with what u got there
  6. this explains a lot, explains why isp provided modems are so bad
  7. just make sure the new modem is compatible, honestly i've never personally used a 3rd party modem, but if you can get one that is just a modem and nothing else it should do a better job provided that its the modem that is actually giving you the issues your having, and not poor routes from your isp or other isp/infrastructure related issues
  8. place this in between the box you got from optimum and the rest of your network, with some configuration you should be right as rain. the more features you are able to disable on the isp box the better, if you can get bridge mode working, that would be best. https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-EdgeRouter-Advanced-Gigabit-Ethernet/dp/B00YFJT29C/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=edgerouter&qid=1565046789&s=gateway&sr=8-4
  9. oh, i know this experience, the easiest thing to do is to dumb down your modem/combo box into being just a modem and then add an actual router, like a "gaming" router(like nighthawk and asus). If you want to go more pro, you can look up Cisco or ubiquity products, or use what is called an edge router to do traffic shaping(prioritize gaming applications) and use a cheaper wifi solution on top of that.
  10. true, but most people = fresh copy of windows then start bench marking with defender running in the background still. and it wasn't always like this defender used to be quieter than most other AV software
  11. my friend disabled his windows defender and his cinebench score moved from 640-ish to 760, but as with most people with an ssd the high disk usage(writes) wont be very noticeable .
  12. for compatibility reasons the mobo may report the ssd as a regular hdd, you can check for bios settings regarding "compatibility" and "older OS". What id do tho is check the link below to see if any of the software made available by Samsung can help you. http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/960pro.html to
  13. i noticed that my cpu would not down clock and would run at max turbo even at idle. A quick look in windows 10 task manager revealed that i had a constant write on my C: drive (SSD) of about 25 MB/s. Even at idle with no applications open for hours on end. turns out windows defender was constantly writing to c:/windows/logs and running about 15% CPU usage. after disabling windows defender anti-malware via gpedit.msc, my cpu now down clocks, while idle, my ssd sees much less activity and my cinebench score moved from 630 to 733. Is this a fluke on my PC or is it something that may be affecting others without them noticing. over the pass month ive had over 2 terabytes of data written to my ssd. My setup: i7-2600 @4.07ghz, 16gb, gtx 970, corsair neutron xt (SSD)
  14. hmm didnt think of it that way..... good point tho... would actually make sense
  15. i dont think th ecooler matters much here a 30 to 70 spike is understandable and rectifiable but a back to 30 seems weird use aida 64 and post graph
