  1. Alright, so I've been actively trying to get this RX 480 to work properly for a week now without much luck, it would have probably taken a lot less time for someone more experienced than me but I am quite the noob at this kind of stuff. Anyway, I think I finally found the problem, but I don't know how to fix it. Basically the problems seems that, no matter what I do in Wattman in regards to clock speeds or voltages, the voltage seems to be stuck at exactly 1.0000 (As measured by GPU-Z). And no, it's not the average or anything like that. I downloaded MSI Afterburner and managed to change the voltage down to 0.9 or up to 1.1 volts, but once again, the voltage is static. Another really weird thing I noticed is that if I change the memory clock whatsoever, like an increase of 5 MHz (2000-2005), the voltage instantly increases to 1.1750 and stays there, once again static. All of the changes I do in Wattman regarding clock speeds work perfectly, but for some reason not the voltages. Does anyone know what the solution could be? Also can anyone answer if voltages are meant to be dynamic like I thought? I wanted to avoid RMA since I'm pretty sure most RMA's are problems not caused by the card itself anyways. I have uninstalled and formatted my drive several times aswell as installed the latest drivers/crimson software. Many thanks for any answers
  2. Hey, so for anyone interested, I'm pretty sure I found the problem. Apparently the factory overclock from XFX seems to be too high for my card to handle. I reduced the GPU frequency by 30% using the slider in WattMan and I was able to play a 25 min botgame in LoL without a single problem. I should probably have realized this was the problem much sooner than I did, I should also probably have mentioned the factory overclock in the original post, sorry for that. Anyways I guess I'll try to inch up the frequency and find the highest point where it's still stable. Obviously this shouldn't happen, but as long as I can find a frequency relatively close to what was promised, I really can't be bothered to RMA. Thanks for all the help Edit: Heeeeyyyyy, seems like I was wrong, it's the high voltage apparently. Edit: Uh, nevermind. It's the low voltage...
  3. Btw I saw somewhere people talking about blinkning issues if your DP cable was bad. But could that really cause the radeon software to crash and the entire screen to black out and/or display a random colour (usually white) for several seconds? I'm using the one that came with the monitor.
  4. Yeah I tried it and that didn't seem to work either. I guess I'll try different stuff to try and get it working during the day, and after that I'll RMA. Maybe I should email AMD or XFX and ser if they have any answers...
  5. Even if it seems to work periodically? Usually when I start up for example league of legends. I seem to be able to play for up to almost 2 minutes before it starts fucking up. And up to that point it plays in full 1440p, 144hz all settings cranked up and up to 300fps. Do you think it might be a BIOS problem or something? I haven't updated my BIOS in like... Literally never. Unless it does it automatically. Maybe they're too outdated for such a new card or something? I don't know. I was thinking of updating them when I get home. Also I was thinking maybe my PSU is outputting too high voltage? I used to have a faulty corsair hydro h80, a known problem with some of them was that if a faulty h80 was combined with a PSU outputting a high enough voltage, the pump would make noise. Maybe that could cause problems with my rx480? Should I try to turn the volt down in wattman?
  6. My old card doesn't have this problem. I think it's because it's using the Catalyst software instead of the Crimson. The problem seems to lie in the crimson software since it seems to keep crashing. I don't know what to do. This really sucks.
  7. It seemed to stop after I wiped and installed new drivers but then suddenly it came back. I do think it's less frequent now but it's still there. Have any more ideas on what it could be? Edit: Everytime it happens, the radeon software crashes aswell. Should I install the " AMD Minimal Setup" instead?
  8. Oops, nope. I'll do that right away and come back with the results. Thanks

  10. So as you might have understood from the title, I'm having a lot of problems with my new XFX RX 480 along with my new BenQ XL2730Z. I got both the graphics card and the monitor today. The problem is that the screen starts to blink now and then, specifically when I'm trying to play games. It basically turns off for some seconds, then shows a random color across the entire screen and then goes back to normal. It also ocasionally freezes for up to 10 seconds. One time it froze for over a minute until I just gave up and restarted the PC. I'm pretty sure I'm running the latest drivers for both the GPU and the monitor. The Radeon Software says I'm running 16.9.2 which is apparently the latest one. I think the problem is the software, whenever these freezes/blinking happens, along with them comes also the crash of the Radeon Software. Does anyone know what I should do? Should I try to roll back to an older driver/software? Thanks
  11. Maybe a little late question, but would the Asus Xonar DG work? The reason I'm wondering is since it's so cheap. Also I'm slightly worried since it's an internal card and not an external one. I've heard that that could cause some problems if it's too close to the GPU etc. Am I just being paranoid?
  12. I've got the ASRock Z68 Extreme4. Maybe it's starting to get a little bit outdated. Yeah, I've tried the back aswell.
  13. Hey! I was looking for some directions on what soundcard I should get for my ModMic 4.0. I don't really need one with good audio output, since I'm already using an Fiio E10k for my headphones, but at the same time I realize I'm not going to find one with microphone input only. The reason I need one is because the white noise created by my motherboard is way too much, and from what I gathered from the internet a simple, small and cheap usb soundcard would fix the issue. And while it did help, it didn't help by much. Maybe I should have bought a slightly more expensive one? Alright so anyways, I was looking for a soundcard, external or internal, that would fix this issue. However it's very difficult to find the correct one. I don't want to end up overpaying for features that I won't need since I already have a good enough AMP/DAC. But on the other hand, I don't want to end up realizing that I might have gone a little too cheap, once again. I'd really appreciate all the input I can get. Thanks
