Well it will for sure shorten it's lifespan.

I would rather go with the RX480 because 1. it ages well, 2. you get impressive results with DX12/Vulkan and 3. it's kinda cheap
The 1060 on the other hand will age badly when new architecture comes in, you do get ''better' performance but just a tiny bit like minemal on DX12, has no SLI while RX480 has Crossfire and you get better energy eficiency

I would rate the 970 with 3,5 out of 4 hehee but jokes aside
Every company is famous for something. If my mind doesn't lie to me I know that the cards from MSI are good overclockers with let's say ''good'' air cooling
ASUS on other hand offers  good cooling of the card but because we are talking about the same 1070 there won't be any massive performance gains.

Another more better idea is to burn the money you've earn from the sell.

In a nutshell: SLI splits the load on 2 cards
I'm not sure of the future but I'm certain that AMD could potentially dominate the games developers create IF they play they cards right.
