Is this monitor available there? I recently bought one and I think it's amazing for it's price:

Oh yeah, I have upgraded my PC twice since I last updated my profile. I'm currently running a RTX 2080 and an 8700K, so I think I'm fine there.

Sadly the monitor Luna linked doesn't ship to germany, and most other viotek monitors seem to ship from the same vendor, who also doesn't ship to germany.

Interestingly on ebay, the official viotek store seems to ship to Germany, and there I found an open box deal, that for $360 base, even after $50 shipping and $100 import tax, converts to about 450€, which is 60€ cheaper than the Samsung from my original search.

0xDiddi reacted to Windows7ge in unRaid License bound to Thumbdrive?
Quite a few Linux/UNIX or other distros are designed to run off thumb drives as a SSD or HDD are not necessary for the operations the OS performs. Most required data will cache in RAM and the thumb drive will sit in the background not all that utilized unlike Windows Server. Servers will sometimes have a internal USB type A port of which you can permanently insert the thumb drive. You can often times get thumb drives that are as small as Bluetooth dongles often seen for mice and keyboards which is very convenient so it stays out of the way.

So yes. It is the intended method for running the OS and the key would be tied to it if you require no online account. If UnRAID has you make an online account (I'm not sure because I've never used it) then the key may be tied to that.

They recommend the small  sandisk Cruzer fit as it is as small as a keyboard dongle I have mine internal by buying a usb 2 cable that allows me to install it onboard and you plug the usb into that, remember that unRAID initially boots from the usb into memory and then it operates continually from memory until such time as you shut down the server so the wear life on the usb is very minimal If your USB Flash boot device fails, you can transfer your registration key to a new USB Flash device initially at any time, and subsequently up to once per year. I also believe they still recommend that you insert it into usb 2 but that may have changed in recent updates

0xDiddi reacted to LionSpeck in Could high chipset temps have killed my mainboard?
Having had bad past experiences with MSI motherboards and knowing their bad power and cooling designs, I checked how were later out alternative X85 motherboards: they generally have at least double the phases (quite sure with doubling schemes, but still double or more of current distribution), which leads to better VRM lifespan, temperature and performance and also quite bigger heatsinks and cooling designs for NB and SB. I'm positive it's the motherboard dying, the symptoms match and the less-than-sufficient power delivery and chipset cooling  layouts back this theory up

There isnt really a lot to say here,

Your system wont work, you need replacement parts (however you got to the conclusion it was the motherboard doesnt matter)

if it is in fact the board, you either
    A) have to scrap the majority of your hardware and upgrade to something newer reusing whatever parts you can (Har drives will most likely be the only thing)
    B) source replacement parts that are compatible.

if money is no problem, then id go for option A.

There arent really any other recommendations to go for.

The fact being, new motherboard likely means new RAM and CPU at the very least.

If you REALLY dont want to go option A then well off to ebay it is to source older parts

So AMD's new graphics cards are here, and they are pretty sick... But what's even more sick than hearing about a new graphics card? Owning one for yourself!

Aw yeah man, we are giving away one Polaris 10 video card and one Polaris 11 video card thanks to our good friends over at AMD.

So, how do you enter to win one of these fine graphics cards?

    1. Post a comment below telling us what graphics card you're using in your rig and why you want an upgrade to AMD's Polaris lineup. The two winners will be selected at random, so no, the content of your comment doesn't REALLY matter, but this is more fun than seeing 800 posts of "I want it" or "gibe nao pls." One comment (entry) per user.

    2. Check back here in about a week when the names of our two winners will be added to the OP (giveaway execution is an art not a science people, so I apologize in advance if winners aren't announced in exactly one week).

    3. Check your inbox here on the forum to make sure you didn't miss it. Our winners' usernames will be added to the OP here, so if you have any question about the legitimacy of a congratulatory message regarding this giveaway, please be sure to check back here and see if your name has been added.

And, while this isn't a requirement, feel free to give our friends over at @AMDRadeon on Twitter a follow.

Winners will be PMed from this account on the forum. Please do not consider winner messages from any other user in regards to this giveaway.

This giveaway is worldwide with no age restriction.

    Best of luck to all!!

    EDIT: Winners

Da Deutschland: ich würde persönlich zu bequiet-Netzteilen greifen, zB. dem PurePower, da die unhörbar laufen und mich bis jetzt nie eins im Stich gelassen hat.

I love the apples to oranges comparisons.

People AND THIS TIME EVEN LINUS, are comparing a RX 480 8gb at min price vs a GTX 1060 FE at max price.
Uhm, yeah, i guess you could do that if you are into marketing.

How about we look at real world prices tho?

    For one:
I fail to find a RX 480 anywhere close to 249$ in germany.
The cheapest i saw as of yesterday was sold for 289 Euro and dropped to 269 as of today. (I wonder why)

Then i fail to see why anyone would buy a 1060 FE, if partner cards are cooler, faster AND less noisy while also being cheaper. So clearly comparing to the FE price is,.. not a really useful thing to do. A few differend models of the GTX 1060 sell for 279 Euro as of today.

So the GTX 1060 is 5-25% faster, 10 wooping bugs more expensive, draws less power, is less noisy and heats up the room less.

Leaving out all the fanboyism, those are the facts for germany as of today. Easy pick right there. Differences will vary from country to country, so check your own prices. And as sad as it makes me: Don't trust LTT review this time. They disclosed their partnership with AMD a while back and before even watching the video i was SURE to see an apples to oranges comparison. And sadly that is exactly what we got.

0xDiddi got a reaction from Samson_ST in pricing second hand parts?
Putting the parts on ebay seems fine. If you want to get an idea of how much you can expect as pricing, try searching your parts on ebay (if you haven't done so already).
Apart from that, your partpicker link is broken, you need the perma-link and not your current URL.
