Hi, i'm planning to rebuild my old Pentium 4 PC. i found an old 478 socket mobo and my old Pentium 4 2.4GHz but i have a problem... i'm planning to not use the stock heatsink because i remeber that it sucks, but i don't know how to remove the black mounting plastic for the old heatsink. How can i do it? thanks

AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE too hot?
Marcy12222 replied to Marcy12222's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
i can't flip it because it isn't symmetrical. sorry but i don't understand very well (i'm italian but american forums are always better even if it's difficult to talk to people in another language). The slot under the GPU is a normal PCI not PCI Express. So you've put a piece of cardboard between the cpu fan and the gpu.... isn't it dangerous? For the ram that's another problem because i have DDR2 and near me there aren't PC store where i can still buy DDR2. why there isn't a store like freegeek in italy?!?!? oh in about a month in the town where i live there will be a electronics fair, maybe i can find something there -

unfortunatly i can't flip it with the air going through the chassis fan on the back. i can flip it over with the fan pointing to the top but i don't see the point of doing it... what can i do?? the only solution is buying a new cpu cooler?? i know i'm crazy but if i make a hole on the top of the case and i put another fan will it be better?? -

ok i'll try it! maybe before buying a new case i'll try to flip the mounting thing on the mobo (sorry but i don't know the name on it) and see if it's better -
