It's expected that a new card is going to come out, it's no surprise to anyone with a high end card that a year plus later something better will come out. Those with the pockets will upgrade anyways.

Deletive reacted to Notional in AMD Zen Initially only Coming With 8-Core Dies-8 Core and 6 Core Zen CPUs to be the First to Hit the Market
Why would AMD sell a 6 core CPU for 200$? ZEN is supposed to bring them back in the game, not dump the market price. AMD needs to make money, not throw them out of the window.

Even IF Intel's similar models would have a small performance plus (like 10% or so), AMD can still be competitive by having better OC capabilities, soldered TIM, more PCI lanes, better motherboard chipsets, etc. You have to look at the larger picture here.

I think it's worth clarifying for those who might not know:
Humber and Sheridan are both advanced technical Colleges, whereas Wildred Laurier is a traditional University. In Ontario (And the rest of Canada, really), Colleges and Universities are not the same thing.

With that in mind, Sheridan and Humber are both offering advanced degrees, in which you still earn a University degree. Many Colleges offer these types of programs, often in partnership with a local University.

I would personally opt for the Advanced Degree out of Sheridan or Humber - depending on which area you like more - Oakville or Toronto. The advanced degree hosted by a college will give you a mix of both traditional University and College education, giving you the best of both.

How about you guys argue in a PM or something please? It's tiring when even the first page of a tech post has an argument; I want to see what other people think about these topics not some almost unrelating argument about GPU architectures and Linux performance leave that for a few pages after if anything.

OT: If they fix the driving in watch dogs 2 then maybe I'll give it a chance. Dispite the fact the game ran horrible I would have been a little more forgiving if whenever you stepped in a car it atleast felt it had weight.

But I have hopes for the 2nd run because the game was fun to play sometimes.

Deletive reacted to dalekphalm in rumor has it nVidia discontinued production for GTX970, 980 and 980Ti GPUs - to be replaced with Pascal chips this June
Big difference though - they were just launching a new revised architecture on the same node and the same memory technology.

Now they're launching on a brand new node, with new memory (Both GDDR5X and HBM2.0). And all indications point that HBM2.0 is in very very low supplies. All indications so far point that NVIDIA is reserving as much of it's HBM2.0 supply as it can for HPC/Compute, since that is a very profit friendly market for them.

So unless they launch the "1080 Ti" with GDDR5 or 5X, I doubt we'll be seeing it anytime soon.

Not only that. If my understanding is correct they shrunk the size of their SMs to half the size of Maxwell SMs. So even better power efficiency. If you have smaller SMs then you can more finely tune the SMs so that you only use the ones you need.  Thus saving boat loads of power.
