  1. Thanks so much for the linux suggestion! I downloaded parted magic and after about 5 hours of messing about and having I/O error after I/O error I found this complete SSD wipe, I'd tried one inside windows before however it completely failed. With this wipe I somehow got left with a blank SSD yet one that gave not a single error. Rebuilt the Partition table and added a new primary partition and I'm back to a working SSD. Sad I lost my data however saving £80 makes me rather happy . Next time my data shall be backed up so no worries for today.
  2. Thanks for the info. I'll have a look around <3
  3. Yeah, when I say my drive died I mean it , my system takes about 2 years to boot the windows install iso when the SSD is plugged in (I've also experience this once with another failing drive so I believe it's the same). and I can't get any software to open the SSD, currently I've mainly been messing with windows inbuilt disk management and MiniTool Partition Wizard, I can see the partitions however opening them or doing literally anything on the drive fails. Maybe i'm being stupid but I doubt I've got a good drive anymore. Edit: Yeah, I'll also be getting a backup hdd soon, and... would linux be-able to do more than I can within windows? I've never spent more than 10 minutes in linux before however I doubt it'll take much to try it out
  4. Either way I'm a little concerned for my data as I don't currently have a decent means to back it up
  5. yeah, maybe It was a bsod caused by my SSD beginning to fail then?
  6. surge protector makes sense but for the moment I just wanna know If you can power an m.2 drive externally
  7. Mmmkay but after my PC BSOD'd about a week ago from my overclock my windows became unbootable. went into windows RE and it's detected problem was curruption so I'm personally a little unsure of that. (I was not overclocking memory)
  8. In short, my last SSD died due to BSOD's and Power Outtages(technicality don't ask ), I've got an opportunity to buy an m.2 drive right now but I'm wondering if there's a way to power an m.2 drive without having my main PSU on? Similar to having two power supplies, using one for the mobo, gpu etc. and using the other power supply just to keep the SSD powered so I can have it on 24/7 or I can atleast shutdown the SSD AFTER it's flashed it's buffer. Note. I'll likely be using a m.2 to pci adapter since my mobo supports NVMe and doesn't have a native m.2 slot.
  9. Linus! Would you be able to tryout the "X-star DP2414LED". Forums say you can overclock it to a whooping, 200hz...
  10. I've still been using a hard drive with 350 bad sectors however, the hard drive is not what I'd consider reliable for storing data, so personally I'd say that you should get a new hdd but If you haven't got anything important on the drive it should still be usable if you don't mind the risk. btw, my hard drive could also still run windows fine so don't consider it ridiculous
  11. I'm using a Dell SK-8135 Keyboard (rip) and a BCL Gaming Mouse along with 2 halves of a TurtleBeach Px22 Headset.
  12. I've got DVI so I don't think so
  13. nah, I mean you can make it stretched using the driver like this just select scale to full size or something like that
