  1. Hey Yea I read the same about B550, and the Pcie gen 3 isnt even fully maximised buy most gpus yet? If I wont be sacrificing much then I think id rather go for the cheaper option
  2. Hey thanks for the reply. Im planning on the r5 3600 for cpu. The GPu is another whole can of worms hahaha. My original plan was the 5700xt but since its so similarly priced to the 3060ti it makes no sense to go for it, however the 3060ti is completely out of stock so who knows ..
  3. Hi Im not an overclocker or a very hardcore user, just gaming/work. im pretty sure this has been asked before but im still wondering. Ive been planning a build with a 3600 and the MSI b450m mortar max. I was pretty much set on the Mobo but havent bought yet for personal reasons, however for some reason the shops around me either havent had the mortar max in stock for a long time, or no longer carry it. So im wondering, is the b450m bazooka max wifi a good alternative? I know its cheaper, and the mortar max is the better option, but if i had no choice would the bazooka max be a bad idea. I dont really need the wifi but since its cheaper than the mortar max anyway... Also, is the b550 Mortar the replacement for the b450 mortar max? Its more expensive so Id rather no go for it if i didnt have to, would I be sacrificing alot if I went for the bazooka max? Thanks for the help
  4. Hey Ive been planning my PC build for a long time so id already settled on the MSI b450 Mortar Max for my R5 3600. However now ive just noticed that the MSI bazooka max wifi has recently released, and its slightly cheaper, and has wifi. As far as I know the mortar max was a reputable and well reviewed board, so would I be better off sticking with it or should I go for the bazooka as it has Wifi. I can survive without wifi but I figured that if it comes with wifi I wont need to buy an adapter in the future, and its also cheaper. Its not immediately clear to me whats different about these boards, how is the bazooka cheaper while also providing wifi? Is the incl wifi any good or would I be better off buying a good wifi card? For a casual mix of gaming and work, which would be better? Edit: apparently it also has BT up to 4.2? Or am I wrong? It sounds pretty good to me right now cus I was considering a bluetooth adapter for my PC Thanks for the replies
  5. Hey thanks for the detailed ans, explains why both options are so much cheaper than the competition. I get what you mean by avoid the gaming brands, and I was thinking along the same lines initially, until I realised these brands are the only ones that wouldnt break the bank. At least for me. Would you say the given Gigabyte is an internation company, theyd have a better track record and QC than the local brand ive mentioned?
  6. Hi sorry if this question has been asked before but I couldnt find anything. What is the difference between 2 monitora with identical specs if one is from a somewhat well known brand(like gigabyte) and the other is from a no name local brand? Where im from its pretty hard to find monitors for good prices im not sure why. Im looking to buy a 1440p monitor to game on. I recently bought a 27inch 1440p 144hz IPS monitor from a local brand for quite a good price. The brand is also pretty well reviewed in the local community even though its know that they either use low grade samsung panels or other unknown panels. This also means that they are somewhat knows for having dead pixels. The moniter im using also had a few dead pixels and suddenly developed a vertical blue line so Im given the option of either getting a replacement or refunding it. Even though the image quality wasnt that bad, im considering refunding it and going for a "higher quality" model like the gigabyte G27Q which has identical specs. However its also about USD70 more expensive and its one of the cheapest ones I could find. Does this mean that in a way im just paying more for the brand and not necessarily higher quality? Or since gigabyte is more well known their QC and quality would be better? Would I just be better off sticking with the cheaper local brand since identical specs means they wont be that much better?
  7. Oh okay, so I guess its safe to assume the monitor works fine then. Thanks!
  8. Hmm its also an obsure local branded custom laptop hahaha. But i havent had any issues with the laptop before. Also even if its HDMI 1.4 shouldnt it at least offer 75hz?
  9. Oh okay, i didnt know about that. But even at HDMI 1.4 shouldnt it at least offer 75hz?
  10. Hi, this may be a stupid question. Ive been looking to build a com in the next month or so, recently the monitor that ive planned to buy went on sale so I decided to just buy it first. Its rated at 1440p and 144Hz however when i connect it to my laptop to test it out the display settings wont let me change the refresh rate to more than 60Hz. Is this because my laptop screen is only rated at 60Hz? My laptop has a 1050ti in it, so I dont understand why im not at least allowed to change the monitor settings to 144Hz even though a 1050Ti may not be powerful enough to output that many frames. If it is the case that the monitor is limited to 60Hz purely cus of my laptops specs, then is it safe to assume that when i eventually build my more powerful desktop ill be able to change the settings to 144Hz? Or is this indicative of a defect and i should seek a replacement. Btw the monitor has HDMI 2.0 ports but that doesnt help either Another thing, while the display on the monitor was scaling and resizing as I was testing it with the laptop, a vertical green line appeared on the left side of the screen thay wouldnt go away until I changed the input on the monitor. However, when i tried using a Macbook and a chromebook to test as well, the green line never appeared despite being on the same input. Could this just be a glitch and I should just ignore it untill the issue reappears? The monitor is from a local brand in my country so obviously i dont expect perfection out of it, and it is very well rated and reviewed in my country. Thanks for the help
  11. Not really, theres only one person using an Iphone, the rest are androids including Samsungs. Which settings are you referring to?
  12. Hey thanks for the reply Do you mind elaborating more on the first point? I might give it a try and see if it works for me. Hmm I wonder why a modern samsung would have such issues when the rest of my family's phones dont, but I guess something must ve wonky with mine. I know range extenders arent a perfect solution but unfortunately they were my only option. Ive tried the test and it didnt seem to help anything, ill try it again.
  13. Hey thanks for the reply. Hmmm this seems like a valid issue which makes me even more frustrated cus it looks like there isnt a convenient way for me to solve this, unless you know of a way to solve it? I simply dont know why my phone in particular has this issue.
  14. Hi I have another possible dumb question about networking. Ive recently purchased an RE650 range extender and it works perfectly. However ive noticed that while all of the devices in my household including computers and smartphones have no issues connecting to its network, my Note 9 in particular always says that it cannot connect as it can't find an ip address. It Will eventually connect if I retry several times but its annoying to do so every day. Im aware of the many work arounds including setting a static ip address for my phone. However my question is that what are the possible negatives of doing so. Ive read several posts regarding the differences between static and dynamic addresses, but I still don't understand why my phone in particular has such an issue, and what possible issues I might face by setting only my phone to a static ip. Also if there aren't really any big issues, why aren't all phones set to a static ip to prevent this issue in the first place Any responses are appreciated and Sry if this has been asked before. Edit: doesn anyone know how to permanently solve this issue at its core without having to do any work arounds cus I just dont get why my phone in particular has this problem.
  15. Ah okay that clears things up, thanks for the reply. So I guess given my general use case, theyll perform about the same except that the RE650 will just be more reliable and drop the connection less often.
  16. Thanks for the reply I actually have a very typical setup, router on the first floor and extender on the second. My powerline adapter actually did offer a wireless extension and i did both my testing over wifi using ookla speed tests and just streaming youtube vids. I didnt bother testing the ethernet ports as the powerline only has a 100megabit port. Im not sure what you mean that ill be limited by my ISP in option 1 as was testing connection strength at different points of my house. Thus is just for my own understanding but I figured that since my ISP connection is fixed, the only difference in strength would depend on the wifi extender wouldnt it.
  17. First off, I know that neither are optimal solutions to extending my wifi range, especially for gaming. Ive been using an old powerline adapter to increase my wifi range to the second floor and most of the time it sucks and keeps dropping the connection. So recently I went and bought an RE650 wifi extender and of course as I try testing both options, it appears that the wifi adapter is performing identical to the RE650. Not that the RE650 is dropping connections or anything yet, but for some reason the powerline adapter isnt screwing up and for some reason is working perfectly. I havent changed anything at all so what have I been doing wrong. Can anyone convince me that I havent wasted my money in buying the RE650. Also, is it possible to use both the powerline adapter and the RE650, or will they conflict with each other. Thanks
  18. I understand, but I already would have if I could have haha.
  19. I know that neither of these can match a direct ethernet connection, but unfortunately it isnt feasible for me to lay these cables for several reasons which is why I have to resort to these options. Thanks for the suggestion though
  20. Thanks for the reply Just curious, why do you say im not maxing out the current adapter? Im assuming im only gettings 5MBps because its of poor quality and because its only rated for 500Mbps while i have a gigabit connection from my ISP. So i assumed it would improved if i got an adapted with a higher rating
  21. Hi Tldr, need help deciding between better powerline adapters or TP link Re650 for gaming Im currently living in a 2 story house with the router on the first floor as thats where the fiber termination point is. I have an office on the second floor where I do most of my gaming and computer work. Unfortunately wifi isnt great im the office so Ive been using old powerline adapters that were laying around the house. These adapterd are rated for 500Mbps and ive been using the 10/100 ethernet port on the ome in my office to connect to my computer. With this solution ive been able to get about 5MBps download speeds on steam with the ethernet cable plugged in and about decent ping depending on the game servers and ive been thinking of upgrading. I was considering if I should upgrade to the TP link Re650 which has good reviews however id have to leave it outside the office and rely only on wifi signals. Or upgrade to better/modern powerline adapters. Would the wifi signals be reliable/powerful enough to game on in the office which wont be too far from the extender. Sorry for long post
  22. Hey Thanks for the detailed reply and for the links, ill def check them out
