    Hi, I want to make a (cheap and simple) cloud solution for storing my large files that I need on multiple devices, but I don't have any real experience with this... This is what I have so far: - First of all, I found this article that uses OwnCloud on a Raspberry Pi, which seems perfect for my needs - I have 2 2.5" HDDs (SATA) that I can use for this project (together they have enough capacity for my current and near future needs) However, I'm not sure on how to connect the hard drives to the Pi, can I use a USB to SATA adapter for this (also to power the hard drives)? Is there anything else that I should know about before starting this project? Which Raspberry Pi do I need for this? (memory requirements etc.) Also any other advice is certainly welcome!

    Hi all I want to install Tensorflow gpu on my PC (Windows 10, Ryzen 1700, GTX 1660 Ti) and for this I need to know what the compute capability is of my GPU. This should be listed here, but it seems like they forgot to list the GTX 1660 Ti. Does anyone know what its compute capability might be? Also I tried this a couple years ago (on a different GPU) and I think that by installing CuDNN, I broke my graphics drivers and I could not game anymore until I deleted CuDNN again. Does anyone have experience with this or can anyone confirm if it's possible to install CuDNN while still being able to game on the same PC? Thanks a lot!!

    The amd cards indeed look promising, however I haven't really been following up on them, do you know anyplace I can find comparisons between amd and nvidia gtx/rtx (I don't really know much about quadros either)?

    So I currently have a GTX960, it still performs good enough for any games I'm playing (mostly sim racing, but also some higher end RGPs which look fine at 30fps). However I'm getting more into 3D modeling (Blender) and I'm seeing that Blender sometimes starts to lag in scenes with a lot of geometry. I went to look at my stats and it is clearly the GPU which is holding everything back (lots of spikes to 100% while navigating in the viewport). Therefore I'm thinking of upgrading it, but I don't really want to spend a lot of money (>€500) on a graphics card. Is it worth upgrading now? If so, which graphics cards do you recommend (should I go for 20XX/16XX/10XX or even AMD)? Should I wait for any new graphics card that are expected to be announced? Like I said, I don't really want to spend more than €500, but I'm willing to pay more for a card that should be good for a long time (like more than 4 years). Also I can get a discount on my next buy at my local shop, so if there is anything that is really worth the money, please tell me :) Sidenote: my cpu is a Ryzen 7 1700, so it shouldn't be a bottleneck I guess

    Ok so for games I would go for the 1700 for the lower price, but what would you advose for the 3d modeling? It's just a hobby, but it may be that I will need some other CAD programs (in the future) for professional use...

    A little more about the gaming part: I've got a GTX960 and play mostly open world games (GTA/The Witcher/AC/NFS/...) and a 60fps 2560x1080p monitor...

    Yes I've seen the video, and yes, the extra 85 euro is important if it's not worth it. I have seen that the i7 is better, but will it be that much better in 3D modeling?

    So Intel finally launched the 8th gen processors and now I need some help with making a decision... I'm about to upgrade my PC from i5 4460, 8gb ram and msi z97s mobo to 32 gigs of ram, an asus mobo (depending on cpu of course) and either an i7 8700K or an R7 1700. I mostly do 3D modeling (in 3ds max) and a bit of gaming and I will overclock either one anyway (and I've heard that the 1700 is a good overclocker). My question for you: which one of these processors will be the best choice for me? Also consider the prices of my local hardware shop (where I will buy it eventually): - i7 8700K : €399,- - R7 1700 : €314,- The i7 is a lot more expensive than I thought it would be compared to the 1700, so even if the i7 is better, is it worth the extra €85? Thanks in advance!

    I can wait a few weeks, but why (in which scenerio) would I need multicore power rather than singlethread performance or vice versa?

    I started a few weeks ago with learning 3DS max, but switched to maya a few days ago, I will now learn to work with maya tos see wich one I prefer, but I think I will stick to Maya.

    Hi, I'm currently learning the art of 3D modelling/animating, but my cpu (i5-4460) is way to slow for what I want to do (the rendering of a simple scene with 100 frames took about 1.5 hours). So my questions: - What cpu is best for this kind of jobs? - Do I need a fast core clock or a lot of cores/threads? and most importantly: why? I would love to hear about all the possibilities so I can make a good choice.

    I render my frames from time to time to be sure everything looks good, but I've only about 2 weeks ago started with modeling in 3ds max and switched to maya 2 days ago to decide which one I like better (looks like I will stick to maya). So I haven't got a lot of experience or consistent workflow yet...

    Thanks for the quick anwer, but could you please explain why you chose these components? Also, when searching the internet, I find a lot of contradictions about the number of cores, so could you explain your answer please?

    Recently, I started learning 3D modeling (and animating) with Autodesk Maya. However, my PC consists of an Intel core i5 4460, MSI Z97s motherboard and 8GB ddr3 ram. So I am thinking of upgrading it, but it would be nice if you guys could give some tips on what hardware I should buy. I am looking for good performing hardware for interesting prices (not overkill, but I don't want to have to upgrade again in a year or so). I was thinking of upgrading to: - intel core i7 7700K (€349) - Asus Prime Z270-P (€127,90) - HyperX 32GB DDR4-2133 kit (€289) What I would like to know: - Are these good components? - what suggestions do you have? - intel or amd ryzen? - should I wait for possible new technologies? (if so, what interesting technologies or hardware is expected to show up?) - how much ram do you think I need? (8GB is clearly the biggest bottleneck in my current PC, but how much will suffice?) Thanks already!! PS: Should I be looking for a cpu with a high core clock, or rather one with a lot of cores and multithreading for Maya (mostly for the rendering process, but also the overall performance of course)?

    So I've just upgraded my router and now it seems like my WIFI has become better than my wired connection over a repeater. My question to you guys: can you tell me which WIFI cards are the best and why? I've only got a budget under 50€, but rather something around 30€. Also, my max internet speed is 100Mb down and 10Mb up, so I don't really need something that can handle a lot more than that...

    But how does it work then? do you just put those 2 GPUs in your PC and play a game that supports it?

    I've got both a GTX960 and a GTX770. As everyone knows, you can't put those cards in an SLI-config. But I've seen a few vids on YT where people let even an AMD and an NVIDIA GPU work together. My question: how is this possible and can I do it too? I've read something about DirectX 12, but I don't really understand how it works...
