  1. so would people recommend air for the CPU cooler?
  2. I have a couple of older hard drives i was going to use. my current rig will become a media / server with around 4TB on it so im not concerned with storage. I'm not on that tight of a budget the only reason the wife is letting me do this is I sold a bunch of old WoW pet and mount cards i got from going to blizzcon a few years back and that has financed the whole thing. (I had no idea how much people pay for that crap it was amazing) Any recommendations on a PSU? Would like to stick with Gold not sure if its worth finding one with two rails. Also the one i have listed is actually only $59 right now

Also would i need to upgrade the cooler from the H60 if was to slightly OC. Thanks for the help
  4. I believe you would have to reinstall windows on the SSD to optimize it. I could be wrong though.
  5. iv been looking at SSD today not sure how great these are but I cant imagine they are bad and for the price Amazon has a Crucial M500 256GB for sale right now for $89 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BQ8RM1A/?tag=pcpapi-20 For Canadian brothers $105 http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00BQ8RM1A/?tag=pcp0f-20
  6. I really like the idea of a silent PC build so I like the case and all the other parts would be amazing. The wife would greatly appreciate not having to listen to my chugging computer noises while she watched TV.
  7. so fail went through checkout and then told me it was out of stock again.... great
  8. just seems like people at getting the Gigabyte G1 since it seems to OC better due to picked chips Strix has the silent fan. Anyone have experience with it? does it pretty alwasy kick in if your gaming?
  9. Im honestly a overclocking noob which is why the MSI as appealing with just a click to OC. I am going to do a full rebuild around Xmas but this was to tide me over for a bit since my 570 is showing its age.
  10. not sure if I should jump on this was kinda wanting to wait for MSI Gaming but I havent seen it in stock for a bit I keep missing it. http://www.nowinstock.net/ca/computers/videocards/nvidia/gtx970/
  11. Am I wrong or are these the same card? whats with the price difference at NCIX? http://www.ncix.com/detail/asus-geforce-gtx-970-strix-0b-102345.htm http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121899&cm_re=strix_gtx970-_-14-121-899-_-Product
  12. i have been sitting on my gtx 570 for ages its time for a new rig. the 900 series have really made me actually look at cards again for the first time in a long time would be nice if they were actually in stock anywhere. Ill probably just end upgetting a 970 since i think the 980 might be a little bit out of my final price range but they are pretty azaming looking cards/
  13. Just wondering what people were thinking these days. 8gb vs 16gb Ram im thinking of building a new PC in the next couple of months. It will mainly be gaming and maybe might get back into some streaming. If not streaming ill probably stick with i5 but might go with the i7. I have noticed recently with my 8gb some of the newer games are chewing a lot of it up.
  14. I set it up 5 years ago but pretty sure my wifes mom bought it long before that. she is kinda crazy when it comes to security and didn't trust wireless took forever to convice her to even let me set it up. I think its time for a new router.
  15. So my wife parents have a D-Link WBR-1310 and its having some issues. I probably set it up maybe 5 years ago but they had bought it a couple years earlier. It seems to be working fine when theres only a couple of things connected but once one or two more connect are added it ends up just totally crashing. I also feel like theres not enough address avaible so it tries to use ones that are already in use. Looking through the setup page seems to have enough avaible. any suggestions or since its so old should i just go grab a new one? update. I think I might be having a time issues. router is stuck saying its back in 2000.
  16. Found this tonight and figured people might be interested. Also Lifehacker is using Linus videos to help with the article which makes it better. http://lifehacker.com/how-to-pick-the-perfect-computer-monitor-1489862871
  17. I have 4 drives because when I do a new build I normally try and keep the old one and add it to the next one if they haven't died. Saves money I guess reusing them but the older ones are kinda scary I don't keep important stuff on them. First is my OCZ Vertex 4 128gb ssd I use for my boot drive and normally install the major game I'm playing on it at the moment. Next is 2tb WD drive keep my steam stuff and random media stuff. Last two drives are 500gb ones sea gate other is WD I store all my movies on one and music on the other. Makes my media easy to organize.

  19. Hey guys, Im in the market for a new monitor as my second one just died. I have been looking at the VG248QE. I mainly game and watch some movies.I'm just wondering if its worth getting the VG248QE as i only have a GTX570 to run this and the other monitor (VE247H). Probably won't be able to take advantage of the 144hz. I might be upgrading my rig soon so it might not matter. any advice should i take a look at other monitors I have just been really interested by the lightbloom hack.
