01davie's Achievements

  1. Shame as other vendors like Asrock have enabled it so it’s a function available for the X399 platform but manufacturers like ASUS aren’t writing BIOS updates for it. I understand it’s a deprecated platform but giving it a bit more life would have been nice.
  2. ASUS X399-A PRIME I've been on their site but got nothing, ASUS support was unhelpful they flatly refused to help.
  3. So after a long email chain with ASUS there appears to be no intention to implement resizable bar on any of their X399 (1st/2nd Gen Threadripper) motherboards. Does anyone know if a beta bios every appeared, I know other vendors provided a bios to enable this feature so I know it does work on the X399 platform.

  5. I’ve been reading through TechPowerUp myself, I could have got an RTX 2080 Ti for similar money but I didn’t want to spend that on a slightly older card. As you said a modest but not massive upgrade.
  6. Evening, Been a while since I updated but things have taken a while. After much searching I’ve been able to change the GPU from the Radeon VII to an RTX 3060 Ti, not a massive upgrade but a more modern card with features I want. Only reason it was selected in the end was because I got it for £375 ($473). Only other upgrade is to the sound card which changes from a Creative Sound Blaster AE-7 to the AE-9 mainly for the XLR input. Thoughts and opinions please, thanks for reading.
  7. Saw this pop up as an addition to my capture setup, I don't know anyone that has one or whether its any good. Do it actually improve productivity and functionality or is it an expensive gimmick? Stream Deck Pedal | elgato.com
  8. A new motherboard is needed and I would go for a new PSU of 750W or above and one thats is rated gold or better. I always spec my PSU higher than my needs.
  9. Are you able to test from a single source, In the past I have single site downloads to test grabbing a file so I can compare the performance between a cable and wifi.
  10. Thanks for the reply, I'm thinking bigger so probably 600x600
  11. Does anyone know if its possible to do a standard DMP backup using SQL developer. Via CMD it would be (exp system/password owner=schema consistent=y file=backup.dmp) but I'm not sure If I can run this via SQL Developer and I thought it would be worth an ask.
  12. I currently have a Dell Precision 7760 which does everything I need to do from a workstation grade laptop. Maybe that line of laptops would be ideal given you want a 17inch screen.
  13. Daggerfall probably as I dont think anyone would ever finish it or do everything in the game
  14. I would stick to 1080p or 1440p as a resolution goal, running Minecraft or Truck Sim shouldn't require a lot but I always advise to futureproof rather than buy for the here and now or you'll be upgrading year on year. American Truck Sim came out in 2016 so I don't think that would need much to run it smoothly in 2022. In terms of a system you could go full modern Intel like the i3-12100 which is 4c/8t and that's obtainable for under £150 ($200) and would be on a new platform with the option to upgrade to something more substantial in the future. GPU on the other hand is much hard as I could advise any card but getting hold of one is going to be tricky.
