  1. It's absolutely is a bottle neck. You can literally google 4080 with 9900k and compare the fps to current gen cpus and its like a 15 to 20% performance hit from what I remember.
  2. This is the answer and why i wont move from the 3080 fe until i leave my 9900k. When I build a new system it will have 50 series card, the latest gen ryzen or intel, ddr5, gen 5 m.2, and a 1500w psu for good measure.
  3. It literally says fe in the title... you could try new drivers if available or run DDU and reinstall drivers. You can also try changing to another 16x slot.
  4. Get a 1080 TI used on ebay for $120. It will play 1440p at 60fps
  5. Looks fine to me. If it was a mining rig its probably extreme heat, but the bend isn't that bad.
  6. I feel like this is a troll post but you should not be running windaws 7 because there is no more support. You are putting yourself at risk. Its time to upgrade your pc if it cant run windows 11.
  7. I followed Mac's wireguard rules to the T but am still able to ping other devices other than my Synology Nas through the wireguard vpn. Anyone know why that might be?
  8. I am looking for a way to access my personal computer from my work 40 miles away. At minimum I would like two factor authentication.
  9. I got everything set up and working. However I am trying to add the whitelists and am a bit confused. I am accessing my pihole through putty with ssh. Im confused about the following... "For Automated Update cd /opt/ sudo git clone https://github.com/anudeepND/whitelist.git Make the script to run the script at 1AM on the last day of the week sudo nano /etc/crontab Add this line at the end of the file: 0 1 * * */7 root /opt/whitelist/scripts/whitelist.sh CTRL + X then Y and Enter sudo whitelist/scripts/whitelist.sh sudo ./whitelist.sh" I made it all the way to crontab, to the screen below. I am really confused where i type: 0 1 * * */7 root /opt/whitelist/scripts/whitelist.sh
  10. Got that up but the command script to install pihole is returning command not found. Anyone else having that issue? curl -sSL https://install.pi-hole.net | bash edit: im a moron i didnt realize it was cap sensitive
  11. I have literally been trying to see how to check the key on the pi. do you know how by chance?
  12. I have my static IP and ready to log in with putty but whenever I do I get this error. Is this normal and safe for me to try and connect to?
  13. On top of fail2ban, I know I need to black list every port except one I choose that is not the default port. Do either of you know of a good guide that shows how to do this. And is it better to set a static ip or buy a domain name.
  14. This is my first post. I currently live in CA and am moving to AK. For the last 4 years I have had a matx build with integrated graphics running a Dell Perc 6i Raid controller with 8x 1.5TB hard drives in raid 6. I use it to store everything from movies to school work. I want to leave my server here in CA and be able to access it and back up to it from Alaska. I as well want to be able to shut down and wake up the server so that my parents electrical bill isn't so high. My friend is telling me just make a basic ftp. I am worried about security with that. As well I know linus always talks about unraid but from what I understand that defeats the perpose since I have a raid card and also looks like even if i did use it with my raid card it might erase everything during initialization on unraid. My question is what is the safest and most secure way to do this while using my raid card? If you think i should ditch the raid card and get a host bus adaptor and run unraid instead I am open to hearing your arguments as well. Thanks so much, Baird
