Those are some massive reservoirs. I have one that size in my current rig and it just drinks down coolant like a german during Oktoberfest. In comparison my most recent build for my mom took less than a litre which really surprised me lol. Also interested in how you're planning on making the desk thinner, as I've had a few plans for a desk build myself where I basically switch over to blade-server components (EK server blocks and server PSUs plus a distro panel as my res). GLHF!
As a side note, im pretty jelly of that band saw you got there. I've been looking for a similar or larger band saw (at least 16" throat) myself for a while locally, but haven't been able to find anything that really caught my eye. There was an awesome 1952 Walker Turner MCB1160 that I was really disappointed to learn had already sold 😞

hihihi8 got a reaction from WaggishOhio383 in Mom's new-old Solitaire PC (InWin S-Frame | 5960x | 980ti SLI | 64GB | Custom Loop)
The parts in this build come from what used to be my main rig, named Pinky. Then I upgraded and retired it.
Recently I've thrown it back together in a new case, with a new loop. I have a ton of watercooling parts that have just been lying around unused, so I figured I might as well put it all to use
The case is an InWin S-Frame that I recently acquired after a long search, just for collection purposes.

Free Cell is what she usually plays.
The GPUs are custom modded to be watercooled as well, I wrote up a guide a couple years ago which can be found here. They are plumbed as parallel in this case (used to be set up series, redid the mod during the pre-build maintenance overhaul).
I was originally saving my brand new CSQ circle-square EK RAM waterblocks for my SR-X, but since that build has seen no progress in years, I went ahead and used them here. It's a shame they no longer make them in the classic circle-square pattern, since I prefer it to the flat acetal finish they have these days. Excuse the imperfect bend there, as it was a quick build and I ran out of tubing to redo it lol.
Now all that's left is for her to play solitaire on this thing until it no longer meets the minimum system requirements of the game!

- MSi X99A Godlike Gaming
- i7-5960x

wireless internet. if you have decent wifi and dont want to connect an cable for internet, i'd say get wifi. If you dont have wifi on your mobo you can always get a wifi expansion card later on.

hihihi8 got a reaction from Kobramd95 in 6900XT Power to the moon? Temps are ok (Fire strike ultra hall of fame #10)
I have a reference 6900XT that i've set (via moar powa tool) to draw 370W right now. temperatures peaked at only 51c after 15 minutes of furmark.
The PCIe power cables are only slightly warm to the touch (Two 18AWG 8pins, and no i'm not using the single that splits into dual-8pins). I read somewhere that these 8 pins should be good for 300W each, but molex set the standard to 150W due to concerns over cheap PSUs using cheap cable material.
Would it be safe to go higher on the power limit, or would I damage something? The card in a big custom loop hence the low temps, voltage has not been messed with, only power limit so far.

hihihi8 got a reaction from WikiForce in Primochill Coolant is NASTY! 15-day review
My recent upgrade also involved a loop rebuild, during which pretty much overhauled the entire loop. My old loop used deionized with a silver kill coil, and I never had any real issues with it worth mentioning - coolant stayed clean and temps were good.
- EK ROG CH8 Dark Hero Monoblock (new)
- EK Monarch X4 RAM blocks (reused but with full disassembly cleaning)
- EK 6900XT full-cover block (new)
- Alphacool NexXxos UT60 480 RAD (reused, thorough flushed, left to dry fully before being refilled)
- Primochill RSX Fittings
- Primochill Res (new 360mm, forgot exact model)
- D5 pump
With the rebuild, I moved from colored tubing and water to clear tubing and colored water. I'm definitely one of the "water is best" people, but I thought "hey, how bad can it be? plenty of youtubers use coolant," and went with a gallon of Primochill True Opaque in pink. Man was I wrong. Within 15 days I've been getting this white frost-like sediment that clings to the tubes and the "opaque" coolant is becoming visibly less opaque by the day.
And before anyone asks, no I am not mixing metals, at least nothing really bad. Nickel and copper in this loop, no aluminum. Primochill also advertises this coolant as corrosion and sludge inhibiting. The kill coil was also removed.
Pictures speak for themselves:

hihihi8 reacted to Blindsay in 2021 marks 10yrs of custom loops for me
I know custom loops have existed for far long and there are people who have done way more than me but I just thought it was cool that its been 10yrs now and to see how my builds have evolved over time. The first loop in the Antec 1200 was the only case I added the loop as an after thought. Every case after that was picked specifically with watercooling in mind.

hihihi8 got a reaction from DoctorNick in Screen goes black, no IO, power/reset buttons don't work - causes?
@DoctorNickNewest v3202. And yup, stock RAM hasn't crashed on me yet, but it's only been a few hours and the crashes happen randomly, so I'll keep an eye on it for the next few days. I did change 2 variables at once (HX850i + Stock RAM), so if I don't get any more crashes i'll try stock RAM+put my AX1500i back in.
The few similar cases I could find pointed in all sorts of directions, with some claiming new RAM fixed it, others concluding a faulty CPU, and some pointing to the Mobo since the power/reset buttons no longer worked.
Everything's new on this system so I have no idea at this point. The only known good I can test with it is my old RM1000 PSU.
