  1. I did try the Edge web version, the problem is the subtitle looks so bad in my language and there is no font change that makes it looks good. The Netflix app does not provide subtitle customization but it does looks much better compare to the web version.
  2. Browser and local player do not have such issue, this only happens with the Netflix Windows app, not Edge or Chrome
  3. There is a strange Netflix related issue happening on my PC in the past few months. Issue When I am streaming any contents on Netflix Windows app in fullscreen, every time the UI/subtitle comes up and fade out, the screen goes black for a few seconds while the audio continue. This cause Netflix to be unusable in full screen. This used to only be a problem with SDR content but now all content no matter SDR or HDR are like this Local or Youtube HDR/SDR contents (with and without subtitle) have no such issue. More context Since early last year, I got a miniLED monitor, and start watching HDR contents regularly. But since Windows 11 HDR does not auto handle HDR content very well, I turned on HDR in Windows setting 100% of the time. Before the above issue, there is another strange behavior when I fullscreen Netflix video, screen will first go dark a few seconds before running properly. I solved that by following this post on reddit and changed my non main monitor to "Content Type Reported to the Display" to "Desktop Programs". However, started in end of last year, the above is not working anymore and there is a SDR related Netflix streaming issue. I do have latest Netflix update/Windows update/Nvidia driver update, the issue never improve. Setup i5-13400F 32GB DDR4@3600MHz RTX 3080 10GB Windows 11 23H2, with all available Windows updates installed Nvidia driver 546.33 (also happens with the 2 official versions before) Main monitor: INNOCN 27M2V connected with Display Port, running at 4K 144Hz, 10bit, HDR on, G-sync on, HDCP 2.2 supported (I want Netflix to play fullscreen here) 2nd monitor: ASUS VG259QM connected with Display Port, running at 1080p 280Hz, 8bit, HDR off, G-sync on, HDCP 2.2 supported 3rd monitor: Dell U2414H connected with HDMI, running vertically at 1080p 60Hz, 8bit, no HDR, no G-sync, no HDCP 2.2 support, set "Content Type Reported to the Display" to "Desktop Programs" I know base on https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4583/~/4k-uhd-netflix-content-on-nvidia-gpus Netflix 4K is not streaming because my 3rd monitor being not HDCP 2.2 supported, but in 27" 1080p HDR is still bearable.
  4. RedMagic GM001S 5088 dimming zones miniLED display
  5. $11,000 115" 4K 20000+ zone miniLED with 5,000nit peak brightness vs $150,000 110" 4K microLED 800nit peak brightness You must be very rich to have this personal choose.
  6. There is a strange new Netflix related issue happening on my PC in the past few weeks. Issue When I am streaming SDR contents on Netflix Windows app in fullscreen, every time the UI/subtitle comes up and fade out, the screen goes black for a few seconds while the audio continue. This cause Netflix to be unusable in full screen for SDR contents. SDR content playing in windowed mode seems working fine. I have tried HDR contents on Netflix and it seems working fine both windowed and fullscreen. Local or Youtube HDR/SDR contents (with and without subtitle) have no such issue. More context Since early this year, I got a miniLED monitor, and start watching HDR contents regularly. But since Windows 11 HDR does not auto handle HDR content very well, I turned on HDR in Windows setting 100% of the time. I solved that by following this post on reddit and changed my non main monitor to "Content Type Reported to the Display" to "Desktop Programs". But I don't know if it's Netflix update/Windows update/Nvidia driver update recently, the issue changed to what I mentioned above.
  7. With the situation I am in now, I would prefer the price to be a little higher to get that guarantee and smoother customer support experience in general. I wonder if there are any online resource that do statistic on how common dead/stuck subpixel actually is nowadays.
  8. I understand the probability part but it's 2021 now, not like the beginning of LCD era. Most phone screens with 1440p and even 4k in 6 to 7 inches nowadays already, it's very likely you can replace your whole phone just with one dead pixel. And high resolution TVs and monitors are everywhere, offering warranty for 1 dead/stuck pixel aren't that crazy since it should be a way lower chance then 10, 20 years ago. At least AOC(in US) and Apple(most likely) can offer zero dead/stuck pixel guarantee. ASUS says "By ISO 13406-2 standards, ASUS conforms to the acceptance spot level which lies between 3 to 5 bright/dark pixel defects" But it's a pretty old standard dated back in 2001 And now there are difference classes available (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_9241#ISO-9241-302.2C_303.2C_305.2C_307:2008_pixel_defects) yet manufacturers tend to just use the "cheapest" option for their warranty For me, this dead pixel is the first one I have seen in 7 to 8 years. All of my past cheaper monitors/TVs(home or office or family) never have this issue. That's why I'm even more disappointed seeing one on my first "more expensive" monitor.
  9. I'm surprise that after all these years of LCD development, manufacturers still not bold enough to provide 0 dead/stuck pixel policy. The only one I found is AOC providing this https://us.aoc.com/en-US/news/aoc-gamings-re-spawned-warranty but seems like only applicable to US
  10. Feels like ASUS QC aren't that great. But at least the situation of the monitor is bad enough that they offer to send you new one directly instead of like mine where CS just ask me to send the monitor to them for checking but no mention of fixing or replacing it. Did you need to send them the old one before the new one arrives? Dell was allowed to send me the new one before I send the old defected one. These 2 online monitor buying experiences are pretty bad IMO. Next time I'll just buy monitor from a local store that offer 0 dead/stuck pixels warranty directly from the store instead of trusting these CS so at least I can go and get a new one without dealing with online CS.
  11. How's your experience with the ASUS support? What's the problem with yours monitor? How did you make them send you a new one? I'm still in the ASUS CS inquiry system going back and forth with them and they mentioned I can try bring the monitor to their local service center for inspection, but nothing about if they will fix a middle of the screen dead subpixel or how much will it cost. My last monitor was a Dell and I just DM their twitter support and I did get sent a new one with very little blockage.
  12. Problem with HDMI/Display port display, I remember reading somewhere, these 2 connections will cut the power completely when turn off so Windows treat them as "disconnecting" the screen If your monitor uses VGA/DVI, then turning of that monitor will not "disconnecting" the screen from Windows, VGA/DVI somehow will still provide power even the screen is turned off Microsoft tried to fix it in Windows 10 expecting to ship by October, 2021 but I don't think it's officially released yet https://www.engadget.com/microsoft-is-fixing-wonky-windows-10-layouts-on-multiple-displays-101444378.html No comment on Windows 11 though
  13. So I'll need to stuck with it for the rest of it's lifetime?
  14. Hi Recently I bought an ASUS VG259QM, and at first it doesn't seems to have any obvious issue during the first two weeks of usage. The return period and 1 to 1 replace trial period (10 days) has gone by and I have even thrown away the box. But last week, there seems to have one dead sub pixel suddenly appear in the middle of the screen. Tried switching input source, https://www.jscreenfix.com/ and factory reset the monitor, and it still doesn't go away. Although in gaming and movie, it's less noticeable, but whenever there is bright background or like normal web browsing in normal reading distance, it's pretty annoying having it right in the middle Local ASUS warranty says this model needs 3 stuck pixel or 5 dead pixels to consider it defect which I think it's unacceptable. From what I googled, it seems like ASUS monitor QC just isn't that great? https://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?p=58461&sid=a9eeb112c4a90050e97a116e695fc563#p58461 I've very little monitor buying experience, since I rarely upgrade them, last time was 2015. Is it still norm to get new monitors with dead or stuck pixel these days? Is it normal to have dead pixel suddenly appear? more to come? All my older and cheaper monitors never have dead pixel during their whole lifetime. Am I stuck dealing with this one dead pixel or should I keep annoying ASUS CS and see if they can warrant it or even pay to fix it? Is it even worth paying to fix dead pixel?
