  1. What game is causing the microstutter by chance? Also, do you have access to 3DMark? I think a good stress test would shed more light on what is going on. I would also suggest running memtest as well, as it could be a RAM issue. Another user on here we discovered was having similar issues and it was caused by one of his new RAM DIMMs tossing errors. Replacing the RAM solved the problem.
  2. Really, when it comes to the 5700 series, keep a close tab on the release notes of the most recent drivers. I actually just took the plunge on upgrading to a 5700xt, so I have been doing a lot of reading. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-19-10-1 Really, right now, it seems that the biggest issue is image quality leveraging VCE in OBS being significantly worse than software, NVENC, and Quicksync. You shouldn't run into issues outside of VCE still being ironed out, but that is because it is a newer engine and the drivers really aren't there yet for it, it seems.
  3. I doubt it is the RX 580 causing micro stutter if you are having this issue with two different ones. The fact that this happens on the desktop too tells me this is more of a system problem than a graphics card problem. I would do validate that you are on the latest version of Windows 10 (even consider a clean install) and do a Windows integrity check. Honestly, I tend to get weird issues after each major Windows 10 patch, which results in me just doing a built-in reset, which fixes my issues. This happens on both my AMD and Intel systems, so this more of a Microsoft issue I notice than anything else.
  4. Ah! Interesting! I didn't realize Borderlands 3 was so demanding. I am concerned with what my RX 580 would run it at lol
  5. I'll take a look at those videos. The Red Dragon XT would be pretty great for $410 though that's for sure. I may also be tempted to get the STRIX for a little more. There is a Zotac RTX 2070S though for $500 USD, which I feel like for the extra $40 on top of a higher end 5700 XT, that is worth the leap. It's a hard decision! 6. Red Dragon is good? That is only $410 USD on Amazon US right now. That would be such a steal honestly if it is one of the best.
  7. With that stuff said. I am on the fence if the bigger and better coolers are even worth it for either card. My go to is really just to not get the stock cooler for 5700XT, but I know founders edition RTX 2070S is pretty solid.
  8. How is the performance on the RTX 2070S?
  9. From your experience with your 2080Ti, are those features worth it? Streaming I am indifferent about just because my Ryzen 7 has been able to handle OBS CPU streaming on very fast preset fine, even with Oculus streaming. I am actually more interested in the custom API for Oculus that improves ASW quality with frame dips, but I haven't been doing much VR lately, so that is less of a concern. I am definitely interested in Ray Tracing, and my only concern is that I make this investment now and then a year or two from now having a bit of buyers remorse for NOT having ray tracing.
  10. How has your experience been? What performance are you getting?
  11. You are right. Overwatch, for example, I can currently do 200fps locked on low settings. I would like to bump that up to high/epic. I am fine with maxing out what I have, since my next upgrade next year may be RAM + Zen 3. What I don't like right now is trying to play on high/ultra in BF V and Anthem and only really getting 40fps-60fps. Anthem actually dips to 30 depending on what is going on.
  12. I am getting the itch to upgrade my RX 580 now that I have a 200hz 2560x1080 ultra wide monitor. I figure in either case, my Ry 1700 at 3.9ghz will be pretty much maxed out. Which would be better? I am looking at either the Red Dragon 5700XT or ASUS STRIX 5700XT (I really like the ROG stuff, so I am leaning towards that). I have been playing a bit of everything, but now that I have Origin Access and Xbox Game Pass, I really want better ultra wide high refresh performance for games like Destiny, Anthem, Gears 5, Battlefield V, etc. I would also like to finally finish Tomb Raider with all of the pretty turned up. Another driver for me us to pump out more performance from my Oculus when I finally get back into that. I also do stream, but my Ryzen 7 handles it CPU wise while gaming without hiccups, so the media engine isn't super important for me, though I do run Plex. All help is appreciated. Thanks!
  13. What do you guys think? My buddy is currently running this board with a 2700x, but I am curious as to if the VRMs on this board would handle a 3900X or even a 3950X without issues: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X470 Master SLIac/index.asp#Overview Thanks!
  14. RX 570 should be the defacto budget standard until something changes. It is also pretty great as it supports Radeon Image Sharpening now as well. I just dropped the Sapphire Pulse into my friend's old i7-3770 Dell PC, and he is blown away that he can play most games on high/ultra at 1080P.
  15. Now that Radeon Image Sharpening has come to Polaris, I have a lot of questions! I have enabled it across both of my monitors, but I am curious as to how it technically "activates". Would this be something useful for when I want to leverage VSR? Is this better for games where I may want to lower my native resolution to get those higher frames? Is it good for a mixture of both? I am sure there are plenty of us out there that would love to learn more! Thank you!
  16. https://techgage.com/article/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2080-2080-ti-4k-ultrawide-gaming-performance/2/ This will give you a good example of what an RTX 2080S can do, as it is marginally better than an RTX 2080.
  17. It's such a hard conversation to have these days. I have had my RX 580 8GB for 2 years now, and though I have the itch to upgrade for better VR performance, it does what I need it to fine overall still, so it is hard to justify upgrading. For what you want you want to target and have last a while, really the RTX 2080S is probably the best way to go. Either that, or get a used GTX 1080ti. The RX 5700XT is great too, along with the RTX 2070S, but if you want to take advantage of ray tracing later down the line, an RTX 2080S I would argue is what you want to even take advantage of SOME of it in later titles. Fact is, ray tracing is coming, since the new consoles will have it with the next Navi, so if that even remotely matters to you, then the RTX 2080S at the minimum is what you want to get for your resolution and for the potential for later game support. Personally, I would push that you get an RX 5700 XT, enjoy the performance for gaming now and leverage Radeon Image Sharpening to get near identical graphics quality while lowering the resolution to get the performance you want. If it were me buying now, I would get an RTX 2070S or 2080S strictly because NVIDIA has better VR support and Oculus leveraged the new NVENC for better quality ASR when dropping performance. That and the NVENC provides way better quality than what the UVD in AMD's graphics cards provides for recording.
  18. I just had my friend pick up a Sapphire Pulse RX 570 4GB for $115 USD after rebate on Newegg a couple of weeks ago. He is rocking an older i7-3770. I agree with everyone else here, a GTX 1060 / RX 570 / RX 580 is probably the max you should go with that CPU. I feel the same about my friend's i7-3770, and he will have better minimums due to the extra threads. I think that will get you another year or two out of your machine before your CPU really starts to be a problem.
  19. That is coming, but that isn't coming until next year. https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-roadmaps-mention-rdna2zen3-and-zen4.html Since AMD just released the current Navi GPUs, and it has been confirmed that the new game consoles are running Zen + Navi with ray tracing, it's a safe bet. Figure Summer 2020 is when we will see the new video cards, along with PS5 and Xbox Scarlett official announcements at E3 next year with a 2020 holiday date. It's speculation, of course, but I think this speculation is a safe bet. If you work in content creation, you not only want to go with a current gen Geforce RTX for the ray tracing, but for any video acceleration, the new NVENC provides far better image quality than what AMD can do if using GPU acceleration for video content creation.
  20. Second Gen Navi will have it next year, which is also what the new game consoles will be based on. If you are looking for ray tracing support today, you have to go for a Geforce RTX card. Really, an RTX 2070S would be the way to go if you want performance and the bells and whistles of RTX and the new NVENC. I think anyone who is upgrading right now with interest in ray tracing should pick up an RTX 2070S at the minimum.
  21. I am sure there are plenty that have DVI. It definitely doesn't have VGA (It seems you may be confusing the connections). I personally run a Display Port (Main), DVI (Second), HDMI (Oculus Rift) on my RX 580 without issues. Are you sure you are connecting the output from your card to the second monitor, or are you connecting to the connection on your motherboard? Though VGA output on video cards has gone the way of the do do for YEARS now, budget motherboards sometimes will keep VGA as an output, especially OEM manufacturers. A picture would be the most helpful here, as really this should all be plug and play, especially on a GTX 1050ti.
  22. I am curious to see the success of an X370 board and 3rd gen Ryzen. Some of us guys that went high end with X370 back in 2017 are eagerly awaiting to see the performance results :). I am pretty confident my X370 Strix could handle a 3900X or even a 3950X.
  23. At this stage, I would blame the card, and get a replacement.
