  8. a huge cintiq with a custom built desk specifically for it... maybe two cintiqes. oh wait no.... im thinking small. I would buy my own professional large scale printing rig. like from epson like something new in the surecolor series or something. like the 920000. omg. and then open a print shop. where i could print my stuff and others stuff so they can sell their stuff too. that would be awesome. imagine thinking of a poster design and immediately being able to print that poster. OH or maybe a dang laser etcher. how wild would that be????
  9. I found it through their dream workstation build video! It wasn't one of those videos where the spent minutes talking around the point like some other YouTube's do. I liked it and came here
  10. oh my gosh! these are way cheaper and I never saw them! I could have saved more money! I can probably return the power supply and hdd with little hassle. I'll have to see about returning the ssd and ram I got from Newegg. Hopefully Newegg will be easy to work with regarding the return. Thank you so much!!
  11. Do y'all have any tips or tutorial suggestions for Krita customization? Because that is exactly what happened to me. It was so overwhelming at first. I have a few of the default brushes I use but I would love to make my own.
  12. OH! WOOPS! I'm in the US actually. Sorry about that My main concern with Windows 10 for now is compatability with Sai as well as with my digital tablets. I have heard a lot of my friends are having trouble with compatibility so far. I'm looking forward to the patches. Once I'm positive Krita and Paint Tool Sai will play nice with windows 10 I'll be making the jump over. I'm actually hoping I can get up to 32 gigs of ram at some point in the future! Especially if I end up using this rig up to 6 years from now. Knowing me thats entirely possible. I wont be needing that much immediately but as I get better with modeling and rendering and painting I know I'll need more ram. Thank you!!!
  13. Current laptop is totally dying right now. So I needed a replacement and I decided to go the build your own route. First time working with computer parts so tell me if I'm off base here somewhere. Following the format in the instruction thread. 1. Budget & Location Alright so... Budget... I have already pretty much spent 1500 on this rig after taxes and shipping and everything else was factored in.... My wallet is kind of too devastated for me to dwell on it now but needless to say I didnt know about this forum before buying the parts. I'm hoping by listing all of them out I can get a solid confirmation on whether this build will be decent for what I am aiming for.... Location... US. my house can get some pretty sharp temperature swings in the winter due to lack of central heating. Should this be a concern? 2. Aim Okay so honestly? I'm wanting a workstation. As the title suggests. My main focus is my work. I'm going to be: Modeling concepts in maya and blender as well as character sculpting in zbrush and sculptris. I'm going to be working on my digital art in: Photoshop Illustrator Paint Tool Sai Krita I'll also be 2D animating with the help of: Photoshop Premiere Pro After Effects (yes it will take me a while to afford all this software. for now I do have an old copy of cs3 I last used in school for photoshop and illustrator so I should be fine there.... same for an old copy of autodesk maya 2012 student edition.... but I'm going to be upgrading to the newest versions.... just need the time and $$ thankfully there are some free alternatives mixed in there) Content I plan on creating consistently every day would be digital paintings. Ones where I could actually be more detailed and involved without fear of my system crashing. I plan on regularly running this machine about 3-7 hours a day. At least twice a week I will be doing some modeling or sculpting... about twice a week I will also be streaming myself drawing so I can chat with my long distance friends I dont get to see often. I'm going to be doing a painting everyday to get caught up on my dying personal projects. Additionally I plan on using OBS frequently not just for streaming with friends but also so I can record myself painting for use of process gifs and speed paint videos that will be saved and edited locally. And yes. I also plan on gaming. Though there aren't a lot of newer titles I'm interested in. I would normally be playing things like old 90's emulated games like Oddworld.... things like the Fallout series which spans old to new... relaxing games like Stardew and Harvest Moon and Banner Saga... a few newer series and newer installments of games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect and Elder Scrolls... and I cant lie I just really really wanna play Overwatch too. What I'm getting at here is YEAH I wanna game BUT I'm not looking for insane graphics performance for games 80% of the time because most of the titles I enjoy were made before 2007 so there is just no need, And its not even the main purpose of this rig because honestly I'm not going to have much time for games between my day job and the projects i actually want to work on. With All That Said Here Is A Link To My Build On PCPartPicker ----> http://pcpartpicker.com/user/LoofieBuilder/saved/2T8hP6 <---- . 3. Monitors For now I plan on using 2 older monitors... Some samsungs I got from a friend who bought them in like? possibly 2009. Not sure. Not the best but decent for the immediate future and I cannot complain. I do plan on upgrading later tho to a newer dual screen set up but again $$$$$$$ is a problem for now seeing as I need food and a roof over my head. I'm not really savy on which brand would be best for clarity while doing digital painting so if any of y'all have some recs or tips send em to me! 4. Peripherals Covered on windows. I'll be using windows 7 as I'm not the biggest fan of 8 and 10 isn't stable enough yet for my liking. I already have 2 monoprice 10x6 tablets purchased in 2014. Still in decent condition for 50 buck a piece. ( A steal?!?!?) Mainly planned for back up in case my bamboo create craps out because their specs are literally comparable. (OMG) I have splurged on a copy of a mouse I have already owned before and really like from logitech. The model is the M series number 705. It fits well in my hand and has a god satisfying feel to the clicks. Idk i just like it. Plus battery life is killer. Don't need speakers as I'm looking to stay quiet but I am in the market for a good pair of cans. My last pair has suffered 4 years of heavy use. Might actually get a higher quality set just for keeping at the station and then another cheaper set for on the go. 5. Why are you upgrading? Bottom line here is my ancient 2008 asus is on it's last legs after nearly 10 years of constant use i guess.... so I'm desperate for a pc. Already bought the parts cause I need them like... yesterday. I have a deadline to meet for a Zine for charity I signed up to produce art for so its like basically clinch time. Also I just am so tired of not being able to work on my art every day. Hate my day job it's so depressing so not having some kind of a creative outlet is a real struggle tbh. Plus it's just TIME. It's just time. It's time. It's been 10 years about. I have been very frugal. I deserve an upgrade I think. Why not now right? SO THAT IS MY BUILD AND BACKGROUND ON MY NEEDS! THANKS FOR READING! Does anyone have any suggestions for tweaks or advice they could give? Do y'all think this is going to be a good reliable build for my needs?????
