story 1: sister refuses to fix macbook keyboard
Sister refused to change her macbook keyboard because it was too troublesome, despite it being probably a loosened ribbon connector.
Want to know how she fixed her problem?
she bought a wireless keyboard and placed it over the macbook's keyboard.

story 2: sister doesn't know about types of display connectors
after coming back from her fucking makers academy, she asked if she could borrow my screen just because she "liked having a secondary screen"
so I said fine whatever, she went to my desk and IMMEDIATELY moved her (still) broken macbook over and displaced all the stuff on my desk and tried plugging in the hdmi cable from my laptop (which I had to point out to her which cable it was) into her macbook.
I was silent and watching from behind the whole time as she was smashing the hdmi into the side of her macbook for about 5 minutes (i had a spare cable so it didn't matter if it broke). It was like watching Tyrion's scene about the beetles in game of thrones
    "kuh, kuh, kuh"
She then turned around and asked why i didn't have a "normal" connector.
I asked her if she even knew what connector her macbook used for monitors.
    this was legitimately her answer
    yes, no joke.
She even went so far as to call my monitor "shit" because it didn't use "normal" connectors
I was pretty mad already at the fact that she essentially pushed my whole desk aside so she could use it, and this just topped it off, so I decided to throw a bunch of terms at her and watch her confusion for my entertainment
I listed off all the connectors that my monitor uses to see if she knew any of these, displayport, hdmi, dvi, vga, and her face was just 0_o
she had no idea what I was talking about, and she even asked "do you even know what they are?" in a really bitchy 'omg, you're so dumb' tone.
I said they're just industry standard display connectors, again, 0_o
I was having fun, ripping into her lack of knowledge of display connectors and tech in general without her knowing what I was doing, but eventually I told her that she needed a mini display port to full size display port connector. again 0_o
so I said it again very clearly, and even wrote it down on a sheet of paper so she could go into the store and show them that piece of paper and they would give her the right connector.
the next day, my sister and parents went out for shopping and I stayed home because I had to do work and uh...other...things, but I get a whatsapp from her a bit later with a picture of
and the text followed: "finally got the right cable"
my reply: that's fucking mini hdmi, I said mini display port. mini DISPLAY PORT
sis reply: it IS mini display port
my thoughts: holy fucking shit, where's my house's nail collection? i want to drive one through my eyeballs.
my reply: no it's not, the box says right there "MINI HDMI", go to the computer shop I go to and ask for MINI DISPLAY PORT TO STANDARD DISPLAY PORT CONNECTOR, SAY THOSE WORDS EXACTLY.
    sis reply:
    actually, she didn't reply.
they come back later, and I asked if she got the cable, and she said "nah, it was too troublesome to ask them so I didn't"
    are...
    you......
    kidding..........
and so now, she won't be able to use my screen no matter what, and I say no matter what because there's no hope in the world that she'll get the right cable or bother to get the right one at all.
    tl:dr:
sister went to progamming course for 12 weeks, claims to have used usb as display connector in her time there, called my monitor shit for not using usb as connector.
I play around with her lack of knowledge in display connectors. She fails to get correct connector (gets wrong one) after being explicitly told which connector to get.

    Intro (skipable but provides backstory)
A friend person I know, vaguely knew that I was familiar with computers dragged me to his room to help him "pick parts" for a "gaming pc" he wanted (this is in a boarding school)
"I've already got some parts picked out" he says.
Anyway, on the way to his room, I was trying to recall what sort of games this guy plays. Then I remembered, Diablo, lol, wow, mmorpg, cod.
Then I recalled another thing, this guy was boasting to some others (none of which were techies) about having a 15 inch macbook pro as his daily driver and an iphone 5s as his daily phone, on top of that, he has an 11 inch macbook air and a iphone 5c as his "on the move devices"
By now, my hands were metaphorically dragging on the floor from how much I've slumped just thinking about these things, so "maybe looking at some parts will refresh my mind", I thought. How foolish of me.

    Main part
So we arrive at his room (after about a minute of walking), and he whips out his macbook pro and clicks around (with his razer mouse and razer headphones sitting on his desk) while I'm trying not to facepalm.
Finally, he showed me what "parts" he meant.
    Take a guess.
    Yeah, Alienware.
    What specs? (here's the kicker)
I7 3960x, DUAL stock 690 (DUAL!!!), 2 TB of ssd, 64gb ram, some stupid soundcard, some stupid custom cooling loop upgrade for the cpu only, whatever was the most outrageously expensive case upgrade, and psu spec not stated.
    Price, $4200+
My jaws dropped from the pure stupidity of the machine, I was standing there, shocked that he could choose something so stupidly expensive, to play lol and cod. And he started saying "yeah? yeah? pretty good isn't it?"
I took a deep breath, gathered myself, looked him in the eye and said "If you give me the money, I'll build one for half the price and perform just as good, if not better."
He replies "bulls&%t, this is already top of the line, I've done my research"
I somehow managed to move, and left the room without another word. And never to talk to him about pc's again for all eternity.
I didn't know what to do from there, I didn't know that someone can be this stupid, I never found out if he bought it, but furthermore, I didn't care.
This scenario has been branded into my mind, never to be forgotten.
    *Deep breath*
Anyways, that's your short story digest for today.
Moral: If a rich non-techie asks you to look at computer parts, ask them "Is it alienware" first, so you don't have to suffer my ordeal.

    me: "oh yes you DO"
him: "A 7200 rpm drive is more than sufficient if not faster in some cases"
    me: ¦¬|
him: "fine, I'll look for some reviews and I'll prove you wrong"
    me: "alright...good luck"
well, this he is about half level techy, but still, utterly disappointed that he even said that hdd can be faster

"gamer friend" of mine said: "why don't you get ddr4 rams? It's not hard" (yes, he said ramS)
I asked him if he knew the freaking implications of getting ddr4 ram at the moment. Obviously he didn't so I had to rattle off the facts that ddr4 has a different slot design, because of that, I would need a new motherboard, and then because ddr4 is only supported on x99 I would have to get a Haswell-e processor which currently is super expensive (for me), so all up it's not freaking easy.
    You know what he said?
And he was 100% serious. Seriously, this "Friend" of mine pisses me off more than I enjoy his company. Not just tech wise, but just his person in general

*note that some parts are not written in chronological order
My dad bought a laptop the other day and explicitly told the salesperson (His name's Johnny, me and him are quite good buddies) that he was looking for a laptop for dvd/movie viewing.
Naturally, the sales person shows him to some low-end, $400 i3 laptop, and says if it's for movie viewing, then this should be ok.
Dad looks at it and goes, "but i7 isn't the newest, I want the newest one."
So to save Johnny some despair, I explained that i7 isn't the "newest" but was the highest tier of the generational family.
And furthermore, I explained how an i7 is too excessive for a laptop if all he does is watch movies.
He goes "okay, okay..." *turns to Johnny* "which one of these are i7"
    *mental-facepalm.gif*
I tried explaining it again, and he continued to not care and continued wanting the i7.
So I turned to Johnny and gave him a "yeah, just go with it..." look and so he redirected my dad to the cheapest laptop with an i7 and it ended up costing him $1000
    But it doesn't end there.
When looking around, he noticed the terms HD and Full HD, he looked to Johnny and asked what's the difference and started laughing as if it was the stupidest thing in the world.
Johnny explained what the difference was, and this time, dad actually understood him, and went on a rampage looking for i7 and full hd
    It keeps going.
He was under the firm impression that dvd's had multiple "formats" and went on to elaborate that a dvd bought in Europe might not work with his laptop.
I'm not too sure about dvd's but I told him it was probably region lock, or drm or something. And Johnny helped by saying that he could download software like VLC, or Media player classic etc. that helps play different video formats.
Dad's like "nonono...too hard, I don't want to do that"
I told him I'll do it for him and he sort of gave me a look like "Bulls**t, that's impossible"
So that ended the buying phase of the laptop. The pain.
Anyway, when we got back home, he took the laptop and went straight upstairs, completely ignoring my offer to connect to wifi and installing media players, and locked his room.
I couldn't care less about what he was doing with it, but he just paid $1000 for a laptop that could easily have been cheaper if he actually made the effort to listen to what me and Johnny were telling him.
    Makes me MAADDDD

Sure, you might still be able to run some games on high at 1080p, but:

    1) Poor graphics in a game is on the developer, not AMD and Nvidia
    2) If you think you're on the cutting edge of gaming technology at 1080p right now, you are misinformed.
