1 1080 to avoid the issues with SLI.

It's pretty difficult to break stuff by OC it as long as you do it in short steps and don't push way too much voltage, and typically it's best to do one thing at a time, make sure it's stable and then go on to the next thing which makes it much easier to know exactly where the problem is, but now that you know how to reset your bios you can undo a lot of OC issues and crashing if things go a bit wrong

Just because one person can reach a certain overclock, doesn't mean everyone else with that GPU can too.

Some GPUs might overclock very well, whereas some might not really be able to overclock at all.

if you can find a deal on the 6500 or the 6600k the mobo will be cheaper and with some slight oc for the 6600k you have a 7600k the only thing that is different is the clock speed

Get an i5-6500, it's guaranteed to be cheaper and offer the same performance

MX300 performs about the same as an 850 EVO, so I would recommend either MX300 or 850 PRO.

I would keep the CPU. These kids are talking about raising you one step up the ladder or switching the ladder entirely, which is nonsense.
Getting the higher quality EVGA G2 will help longevity since the NEX is mid-quality.

He already owns this. RX 480 is not good enough upgrade, he mightaswell wait for Vega and it would be stupid for him to go to a completely new platform when he already owns a 6600k. Imo, the only reason he should consider going for a 6700k is if he wants to sell his 6600k or the 6600k isn't enough for what he does. Which even if he renders, records ect it should be good enough unless he is throwing out daily videos or having issue with streaming

A 1070 will blow anything away at 1080p ultra. Its a good spot for 1440p, able to easily play on high settings at 60fps+. I have a 970 myself and still get 60+fps in most games on high/very high settings though.

The quality of soldering, capacitors, etc. are much better in the higher-end units.
I'm using a 950 PRO and I would recommend it, but I won't. I recommend you get an MX300/SSD Plus/850 PRO and feel the importance of an SSD as it will really push your PC forward.

I doubt its the CPU, though you can use software to track CPU and GPU usage while playing to make sure. But you may need to go into the advanced options and lower some settings like AA and hairworks, ect that are stupidly taxing on the GPU. Dont get me wrong, the 970 is showing its age and a 1070 will make gaming that much better, but the 970 is still capable.

The Fury X is a gem that a lot of people don't talk about these days. Although pairing a Fury X with a Freesync monitor can be a beautiful thing.

The Corsair K95 RGB is a great keyboard, and on sale, it is just slightly above $150, but the quality and features of the keyboard would be worth the little bi extra. Here is the MX Red version, and here is the MX Brown version.

To be safe, you should probably find a power supply with the correct cables such out of the box. Using adapters like that usually isn't  recommended, especially since you haven't actually bought one yet.

Sentey PSUs are pretty much explosives. For $50, you can get a Seasonic S12ii 520W which would be perfectly fine for your build.

zRinn reacted to TheRandomness in 6pin PCIE to 8 pin adaptor? HELP
You know these standards were created for safety, right? The extra 2 ground points on the 8 pin allow for the whole thing to transfer 150W safely, compared to the 75W of a single 6 pin connector. On a shitty PSU with thin wiring, having the cables catch fire is not an uncommon occurrence. Also, sentey PSUs are actual bombs, so there's another reason to get a new PSU.

If you're waiting for the i7-7700K, and just want to game, just get the 6600k. There's not going to be any performance hit as hyperthreading does almost nothing in games. Saves you a nice chunk of money too.

Also remember, if you are planning on upgrading to a 6700k in the future, you will probably want to get a Z170 motherboard so you can take advantage of the unlocked multiplier of the 6700k so you can overclock, as H110M motherboards do not allow overclocking. Otherwise, you would be better off upgrading to a 6700 non-K to save some money, if you don't plan to overclock, or buy an overclockable motherboard.

    1. No they're not, the grey label ones are perfectly fine to be used in low-mid tier gaming PC's
    2. I agree with that.

Edit - I just noticed you put CX, if you do mean CX and not CXm, then i agree they're pretty shoddy, should be avoided unless its a super budget build, but even then theres normally better options at their price.
