  1. hello, i just recently got a dell optiplex 755 dt for like 10$ now i want to ugrade my cpu and gpu, i have an extra psu in my house if i ever need it, i want to upgrade my gpu to a 750ti or something like that, but on internet ive seen that that motherboard has a label on its pcie 16x slot that says 25W... ive seen multiple posts on multiple forums talking about upgrading gpu in a dell optiplex 755, but none of them really answered my question... at least nobody said that a 750ti wouldnt work.. but nobody said that it did work. if the 750 ti doesnt end up working i could try to use a gt 1030 which will kind of work thanks to its low power consumption... but lets face it... thats not a gaming gpu. whiile for the cpu upgrade i was thinking about a xeon x3363, thoughts about that? it seems cheap, while still faster than a q6600... would it work? would i have a chance at running games at 1080p? thanks so much
  2. thats ok, i dont plan on gaming in 4k with a 750, just play movies, ill game at a standard 1080p resolution, my focus is just 4k playback... i was wondering, if i managed to sell my 750 and get a gt 1030... would i be able to stream 4k from netflix? because ive seen that i am forced to use kabylake and-or a 10th gen nvidia card
  3. its a regular tv, with HDMI... no monitor
  4. hello guys, i have some old hardware lying in my attic and i was wondering if i could use it to build a discrete htpc for my dorm, using CPU-Z i managed to discover that the pc is an old prebuild asus system. the motherboard should be the F1A75-M and the processor is an amd A8 3820 APU clocked to 2.53GHz, i was wondering if i could put a 4k bluray drive, an ssd and a couple HDDs and expect the cpu to be able to handle a 4k (not gaming) kind of load, i also have an old gtx 750 that i could throw if needed and the psu has been upgraded in the past to a more decent antec 500W 80+ certified, so im not too worried about that... the CB R15 score of the cpu seems to be around of 265... wich is not great but i think i could live with it, so... what do you guys think? could that work? i mean i just want a pc that can handle 4k and some very light 1080p gaming, FIFA would be my mainly played game. Thanks for the help
  5. hi guys, do any of you know what kind of material the yoga 900's (model 13-ISK with i5-6200u, not sure if it makes a difference) cold plate is made of? i need to know because i want to repaste it due to weird thermals, and i kind of want to try out liquid metal, but of course i can not if the cold plate is in aluminum. Thanks for your time
  6. interesting, i wonder if my heatsink is in alluminum... i hope not... worst comes to worst ill just use some artic mx4
  7. hello people, i have a lenovo yoga 900, i5 6200u edition. The processor isnt running particularly hot by any possible means (82C max temps after 2 hours of aida 64), but whats really bothering me is the fan noise, its constantly running, and not even at slow speeds... so i was wondering what could i do to lower the temps so the fan could spin less often and maybe not as loud? what ive done until now is just lowering the core voltage by 50mV using xtu, that lowered my temps by 1.6 degrees. i am fine with repasting as well, maybe even using some liquid metal, but how much will that help? and will it void my warranty? because i have one more year of warranty coverage and im not planning on voiding it
  8. looking at the hardware you got a 350w will be more than fine, but psus that low on wattage usually do not come with an 80+ certification, wich always worries me... i suggest buying a psu that has an 80+ certification, bronze if possible, the wattage you need is pretty low, so the lowest wattage you can find with an 80+ certification would be the best for you.
  9. if you upgrade, change that psu, it would make no sense to upgrade with a crappy psu like that, even a 350w would be good, then change cpu and gpu, (prioritazing the gpu) the 460 is my preference, but the 1030 will be just fine (costing less)
  10. it depends on what you want to do with it... if its just a gaming pc, the i5 will be the best cpu for framerates, if you plan on doing multitasking with it, or workstation kind of loads, maybe switch to a ryzen cpu like 1600-1600x and change mobo to an am4, possibly even switch the ram with some faster dimms
  11. hi, i was wondering if you guys knew what "be quiet!" wants for proof of purchase of an am4 mobo (invoice), i have a dark rock 3 that i want to mount on a x370 MSI carbon pro. I was wondering if a screenshot of the email i got back from the store i bought the mobo to would be enough, because, from what i noticed, theres no way to know if the shipment is on the go, or not even a confirmation email that they send you. I feel like its a bit confusing and disorganized... did any of you experience my same frustration? how do i know if my order went well? thank you guys for your time plus... the amd kit, is it easy to mount or its as frustrating as it was on the intel?
  12. try this... its a random video but it makes sense to me
  13. first thing, look if yuu're transfering them to a usb 3.0 storage unit, because if youre transfering from a usb 3.0 port to a usb 1.0 storage unit dont expect much, if youre using a usb 3.0 stick, then maybe you didnt install the usb 3.0 drivers (my msi board has both a driver and a utility tool) or maybe your stick isnt the best build quaity and cant handle all that data transfer... try a different usb stick, and open task manager when you transfer the files, look if anything gets maxed out, cpu, ram, disk usage and such. did you try different usb 3.0 ports in you pc? both front and back of the case? i dont think theres much more to troubleshoot...
  14. interesting... i own a gtx 1070 for my daily rig and a 980ti in my htpc, and i reallly never noticed any difference in performance at both 1080p and 1440p (Dx 11), theyre usually 3-4 fps apart and sometimes the 980ti takes the win... not in dx 12 of course. but that chart is saying something different... i wonder if theres something wrong with my 1070 and maybe it runs slower than it should.
  15. both those cards will rock those 3 monitors no problem, but with the 1080ti youll get a BIG boost in performance, although id reccomend a 1440p ultrawide high refresh rate monitor
