  1. I bought this when it was $120, but it works great https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAB946RW0913
  2. I just started having lag spikes in DOTA 2 as of today. Did the new driver mess up the 1050ti?
  3. I don't understand how the old house became a point of conversation. Has nothing to do with the topic...
  4. I've been watching the channel for a few years, and it feels like the store hasn't been updated much these last few years. I would love to grab a mug much like Good Mythical Morning. Is Linus open to outside persons (fans/3rd parties) designing new stuff for them to sell? Maybe make a video out of it and have a fan contest to design a new LTT shirt, and give them royalties or a prize or something.
  5. This is the perfect response. Word to the wise.. They have stated on multiple occasions that the price will rise when they launch.
  6. I have been wondering about those PCs for months. Glad I'm not the only one. With the new set, I feel like the results will be tainted (extra dust from construction, moving them around). It's one of my favorite newer (a year old now) ideas from them too.
  7. I should have omitted the soon bit, and said 'come at me bro' to anyone challenging a premature call. Super happy for them. Do they get a new play button?
  8. LTT has less than 700 subscribers to go until they hit 5 million. I've been watching for the last few years, and appreciate how you're moving the platform forward, while making your own at the same time. Congratulations to everyone involved over at LMG (and now Floatplane too)!
  9. That's one of the examples I showed in OP. There was ANOTHER case of it in 2012, which is what has led me to think it's not such a far-fetched idea.
  10. I'm sure it's a bunch of traditional market variables (supply + demand, fewer competitors, natural business inclination to increase profits, etc), however it's both fun to speculate and try to investigate why it keeps getting worse and worse as time goes on. It's problem that has been happening for over a year, and seems to only get worse. Feels fishy, even if it isn't.
  11. Good morning everyone, Tin foil hat time (with historical evidence)! Given the sustained more than doubling of DRAM prices, it's sounding more and more like collusion. I've been wondering this more and more as of late, especially since this has happened before with the SAME manufacturers. It's a problem that would make sense for 4-6 months, but it appears there is no end in sight. Links for sauce: https://www.techpowerup.com/234565/no-relief-for-dram-and-nand-shortages-in-sight-considerable-supply-only-in-2018 (this article is from June!) https://web.archive.org/web/20051112051337/http://www.justice.gov/atr/public/press_releases/2005/212002.htm (2002 price fixing) https://www.computerworld.com/article/2502392/technology-law-regulation/micron--oracle-settle-memory-price-fixing-lawsuit.html (2012 price fixing) I'd love some input on the topic.
  12. I'll give you tree fiddy. Seriously would be good with paying $20.
  13. I'm not sure about the 4770K, but I have the 4790k, and these CPUs cost almost the same used as they do new. Really no sense in getting a new CPU on the same socket. If you're going to get new ram, cpu, and video card... Just go up to a newer generation with DDR4. You'll end up paying not much more. My final recommendation of cash isn't that much of an issue is RAM and a 1070 ti, which when overclocked, performs better than a stock 1080.
  14. I'd say no bottleneck CPU wise at all. The 970 is still a great 1080p card. If anything go 1070 and 8GB more RAM. I submit this video for evidence:
  15. Not tech quickie necessarily, but a new video on PCI lane saturation. The recent i9 series isn't as stacked as I'd think we'd want. Given NVMe and the 1080ti, i'd think we're getting closer to saturating things.
