  1. There were a few key features that made me pick it but yes, perhaps I should shop around on the mobo. The main things I liked were onboard WiFi (running cables in my place is not feasible and neither are powerline adapters due to weird socket positioning), max RAM for future upgrades and it's very, very pretty.
  2. Yeah you're right. Completely forgot the Skylake CPU can take advantage of that.
  3. Not a huge concern right now. My focus is on saving up the cash for the tower itself. The monitor above was an afterthought to be honest and is subject to change.
  4. 1. Budget & Location - Roughly €1500 with some wiggle room. I'm based in Ireland. 2. Aim - Some hobbyist-level game dev/3D modelling and video rendering. Also occasional gaming so running GTA:V and SW: Battlefront at high settings would please me. 3. Monitors - Just one but it's a nice one. 4. Peripherals - Using my beloved Corsair K70 and the mouse from my current rig. 5. Why are you upgrading? - 50% - More oomph in 3D modelling and video rendering / 30% - It's been 4 years since my last from-scratch build and it's time for an upgrade / 20% - Because I have some extra cash and like shiny things Just looking for general feedback really. The bottom line is longevity and processing performance. There are definitely some overkill purchases in this build but I do not intend to upgrade this thing for 3 years minimum. Bringing across 16GB (2x8) of DDR3 from my current rig so that's not included. Ignore the prices. There's no Ireland option on PCPP and the EUR prices vary wildly for Germany, France etc. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (£300.00 @ Amazon UK) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VIII HERO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 8GB G1 Gaming Video Card (£648.99 @ Amazon UK) Case: Corsair 750D ATX Full Tower Case (£124.99 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Optical Drive: LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer (£54.54 @ Amazon UK) Monitor: Asus PB258Q 25.0" 60Hz Monitor Total: £1128.52
