I paid entirely too much for one of these: A BNIB Microsoft Pro IntelliMouse in Shadow Black. I wanted to get both the Pro and standard versions when they were still in production and I'm paying the price for not doing so.

Very early impressions are good, all things considered. I absolutely love the smaller ambi style of the G203 and GPW, however for being a bigger ergo mouse meant for righties the Pro IntelliMouse is very comfy. And the software is... Surprisingly good. So far only complaint is that the left/right clicks are very snappy and a bit on the loud side, and I guess my universal hatred for braided cables on mice.

I wonder if all those caps are actually for dumping data to the drive in the event of a power loss... That would be very server-esque.

When my friend and I (mainly me lol) built his new PC, we could not get it to post to save our lives so we were both panicking a little bit, him because he thought his 4080, 7800x, or whatever Gigashite board was broke, and myself because I didn't want him to think I broke it.

Turns out it just will not post with one specific flash drive plugged in.

32GB isn't even really small for just games, it's just small in general. My 15 Pro Max only has Pokemon GO on it as far as games go, and if we subtract downloaded music I'm sitting at 68GB used.

That being said, the SE2 will pretty much universally run laps around a 7th gen iPad. A significantly faster chip (Geekbench 6 puts the SE2 at literally twice the performance as the 7th gen iPad, though I think real-world it's more like 60-70%) with a lower resolution screen makes it a pretty one-sided battle. Not to mention the A13 keeps its cool pretty well even in the SE, whereas the A10 was a hot little fucker.

I actually use Snipe-IT personally because I'm really good at shuffling parts between PCs and then not knowing where the fuck it is when I actually need it. At least this way there's a nice easy QR code on everything I can scan to hold myself accountable, not to mention being able to see what location things are at (like my desk, in different storage drawers, etc), and if you REALLY feel extra you can input the cost of things so you can see just how much of your money you've wasted. 🙂

You can also use it for software licenses which is handy yet again for me due to the same reason lol

More scummy phone photos of the pristine FX 1800 (G94 die, same as 9600GT/9800m). It still has under 100hr of usage, still the cleanest, shiniest 9000-series card out there. Funny to compare it to the beat-up ones on eBay.

Tomorrow or the next day I'll have a great deal more old video cards to post; 17 untested cards from '06-10 are arriving. Two 9800 GX2, FireGL v7200 (single slot Radeon X1800), and a pair of HIS 4850 cards among others (mostly high end GeForce). Hope I get some nice working cards out of it.

Finally bought some fans for my PC. I fucked up the cable for my stock AIO fans the day I got it when I was desleeving it, and when I took it apart to clean the connector came off sooooo it was time for a replacement. Plus side is these are black instead of having white blades so now the only thing that stands out in my system are the lil A40x20's that cool my SSDs.

Now I'm just waiting on CableMod to hurry the fuck up so I can have the correct length 24 pin and EPS cables, and then I'll finally be able to put the side panels back on this thing.

Bought this (apparently) brand new 130w power brick for this PC I got for free: an OptiPlex 7040 Micro. Mine has an i5 6600T, 8GB of single-channel 2133MHz RAM, and a 128GB SanDisk X400. My inner dumbass really wants to give it an i7 6700, 32GB of RAM (anything higher than 2400 is overkill, but it'll probably get 2666), and a 512GB MP33. Just for the memes.

Bought a lil laser printer (the HL-L2370DW) for a whopping $40 because it's been our display model since about Q1 2018. Only printed off 11 pages before my ownership. Just need to clean up the remainder of the sticker residue plus the sticker residue on the back right corner from one of our ancient signage dealios we had on it.

Bought a second 5-port HDMI switch from UGreen because I have 8 devices and 2 ports on my TV. I'm hoping I can daisy-chain the switches because running the Apple TV through a switch breaks HDMI CEC (aka I can't turn my TV on and off with just that remote when I'm on a TV binge).

Then there's the HP TouchSmart IQ770 - an odd media machine that I would call more smart TV than computer. It's a massive and quite sturdy all-in-one, coming in at over 40 pounds and sporting a 20" 1440x900 capacitive touch display. It's full of wonderful multimedia features (6 video input ports, optical/5.1 audio, decent 3D acceleration, good speakers, slot-loading DVD burner, IR remote, and hot-swap HDD bay) and features HP in-house software and Media Center plugins to make the best use of the system's features and touchscreen.
It runs on the very little-known AMD 64 Live! platform - similar to how Intel created the Centrino platform as a set of requirements for business laptops - but AMD's Live! was for media-centered computers (and also far less successful). Uses the nForce 630 chipset, a motherboard made by Asus, Turion 64 x2 CPU, and a GeForce 7600.
Oddly enough its TV tuner hardware, a prominent feature of the machine, is a full-size Hauppage WinTV PCI card laid on its back in the bottom of the case. This caught me off guard when I first opened the system for servicing.
