Then there's the HP TouchSmart IQ770 - an odd media machine that I would call more smart TV than computer. It's a massive and quite sturdy all-in-one, coming in at over 40 pounds and sporting a 20" 1440x900 capacitive touch display. It's full of wonderful multimedia features (6 video input ports, optical/5.1 audio, decent 3D acceleration, good speakers, slot-loading DVD burner, IR remote, and hot-swap HDD bay) and features HP in-house software and Media Center plugins to make the best use of the system's features and touchscreen.
It runs on the very little-known AMD 64 Live! platform - similar to how Intel created the Centrino platform as a set of requirements for business laptops - but AMD's Live! was for media-centered computers (and also far less successful). Uses the nForce 630 chipset, a motherboard made by Asus, Turion 64 x2 CPU, and a GeForce 7600.
Oddly enough its TV tuner hardware, a prominent feature of the machine, is a full-size Hauppage WinTV PCI card laid on its back in the bottom of the case. This caught me off guard when I first opened the system for servicing.

You all might enjoy the latest addition to my rare Pavilion collection - the DV6985 Special Edition. Very nice design, with the vertical lines on the back curving into parting blades of grass and fronds of plants. The rest of the body is a strikingly bright silver.
Hardware wise it's nothing too special - Core 2 Duo T5750 2000mhz/2m/667, 2x2gb, Intel GMA X3100. Does have a nice wireless card though, triple-antenna Intel 4965AGN, highest-end card of the first Centrino platform. What makes it special is the design.
Thinking of swapping the board for one of the several DV6000 Nvidia motherboards; could get a little GeForce 8000 card running in here.

Bought a lil laser printer (the HL-L2370DW) for a whopping $40 because it's been our display model since about Q1 2018. Only printed off 11 pages before my ownership. Just need to clean up the remainder of the sticker residue plus the sticker residue on the back right corner from one of our ancient signage dealios we had on it.

It doesn't matter if you eliminate them from consoles, anywhere else they look the same tactics will be used. You might as well be trying to fight a horde of locusts using only a flyswatter.

Welcome to pretty much any game that uses anti-cheat. This is not a new thing if you play multiplayer games online.

Got this 16GB iPhone 5S with a pristine display... but beat to hell body. Not sure what I'm gonna do with it, right now it just runs a clean wipe of 12.5.7. iPhone SE2 for scale.

Got me some of them got damn racin car wheels for the black Hyken I just got a couple weeks ago. It's absolutely insane how much of a difference for noise these guys can make on hard flooring, and they actually make it just a little bit harder to roll around which actually makes getting in and out of the chair easier.

Also, I may or may not have spent a little more on these ones just because I liked the actual wheel design more.

And the second addition to the ol' PC. Still have to dial in the fan curve a bit since I'm using the PCH as the reference temp since it's going to be the closest, but these will greatly help keep my bottom SSD cooler.

I finally have to deal with the sizeable coolant leak my car has developed from a cracked radiator end tank. It loses anywhere from 200 to 400mL a day, depending on how warm it is outside and how much I've driven. And here I thought tax return season meant paying off some of the credit card. 🙂

flibberdipper got a reaction from IgniVellex in Can a power outtage break my monitor and nintendo switch?
Power outages really aren't not that black and white. In my experience it's very common for there to be harmful voltage fluctuations when the power "cuts" out: we just had a straight loss of service caused by a tree snapping a line last month, which caused a fairly significant voltage spike, and that in turn managed to cause an HDMI port on my TV to become highly flaky.

As for the second part of what I've quoted, I don't think that's inherently the biggest issue. In my experience with my provider, when they get things back up it's not unlike flipping a power switch in the sense that we just go from no power to normal power (which is how it should be). The most harmful parts of power loss originate from issues like what I just experienced; whether it be a tree falling on a line, some dumbass deciding their car looks better parked where the power line used to be, or a transformer deciding it wants to transform into a firework.
While I'm sure the power flicking on and off rapidly isn't exactly great for anything, it's realistically the super out of whack voltage spikes during power loss which cause things to let out the magic smoke.

Can confirm, my mid-2009 MBP came with 2GB of 1066MHz DDR3. Not that the speed really matters here since 1066 is the fastest the C2D supports.

flibberdipper got a reaction from IR76 in What cable do I need for a Corsair cx600
Yep, they're just regular NEMA 5-15P to IEC C13 cables. Realistically any gauge wire will work, since even 18AWG is theoretically capable of delivering a little over 1kW without issue.
