  1. I think the furthest back I've gone are twin 1266 PIII's. I don't think I posted anything from my ProSignia 165 which has a mobile PII 400.
  2. If you're like me and OC using boost tables, voltage curves, and PL1/PL2 limits, it absolutely does. Alternatively it just cuts down on power usage overall which might be handy.
  3. It's probably the route I would go. Hell, if I had a 12700K instead of my 12600KF I'd probably just disable the e-cores altogether since I'd have an extra two big boy cores/threads which would help "make up the difference" so to speak. To illustrate my point of how ass e-cores are for VMs, here's a freshly installed Xubuntu 21.10 VM booting from my MP510, with 6GB of RAM and 4 cores assigned. First part is with it using the e-cores, second part is me changing the affinity to only p-cores. And believe me, the difference with Windows guests is FAR greater. 2024-01-12 12-32-43.mp4
  4. Not VMWare Workstation though. If you don't disable the vmx from running on them, your VMs will be LUDICROUSLY slow. As in, a Windows XP VM will be slower than it would be on something like a Pentium II 233. I'm actually usually very annoyed with my e-cores, to the point that I really want a 7800X3D. VMs are a pain in the ass, Steam downloads are odd shit, but everything else is fine.
  5. It's the exact opposite where I am. Tmo was useless, especially at my house, whereas with Visible I actually didn't realize I had WiFi turned off for the first week after porting over. I'm honestly not sure if it's congestion or just iOS being funky about how it displays my connection. Either way, still works better than Tmo ever did so I'll take it.
  6. I'm honestly not sure. I know my previous carrier (MetroPCS) was kinda weird about how they worded it, and when I sat at the water it would jump from "standard" LTE to roaming and it was godawful slow. Right now I have Visible and roaming isn't nearly as much of an issue, though lately I just haven't had 5G where I normally do which is odd.
  7. Yeah the only peeps who really think about it are those of us who border Canadaland. Sometimes it can be pretty annoying bouncing to roaming just because you're like a mile from Canada.
  8. Yeah other than the usual Intel cooler motor whine I'm pretty happy with it. 4.4GHz/1.2v on my 6700K and with power draw in the mid-70s the cooler keeps it in the low-70s. I kinda wanna push my luck and try for 4.5 or even 4.6 lol Ironically I like the cooler from my 11400 more than the 11400 itself, it's such a power hungry whore for no reason even though I have power tuned it as much as I possibly can.
  9. "Final" upgrades for now to the "HP" sidehoe. Threw the full-black copper slug cooler from my 11400 in here since my original one finally had a plastic clip fail (and it actually tames the 6700K at 4.4GHz perfectly), as well as adding an Asus WiFi card with an 8260 so I can have Bluetooth. Only thing left I want to do is get an NZXT USB hub at some point, it'll help with cable management and will let me use the card reader again. Still can't believe how much shit I was able to shove into this thing.
  10. I'll always fucking LOVE the blue IntelliMouse Microsoft graced us with eons ago. I still have one, albeit a bit worse for wear, and I would love to get another one that's either in very good shape or even BNIB.
  11. VM is the only piece of software I've ever heard about that can do it. I know some motherboard audio utilities can do something similar (the ASUS Z170 board I have can), but of course depending on what you're doing and what board you have that may not even be a possibility for you.
  12. I have no experience with Voicemeeter either, I don't want to give you some incorrect advice after spending 5 seconds Googling it and have it fuck your shit up. I was really hoping VM and EAPO would play nice.
  13. That I'm actually not entirely sure about. Unfortunately I don't really have a way to come up with a similar enough setup to yours to find out, either.
  14. If I had to guess I'd say that the phone would just end up completely ignoring the wireless charging and only use the wired charger.
  15. You could give Equalizer APO a shot and see if it works. It's got a bit of a learning curve if you want to set up specific "presets," but I've had great luck with it. I use it personally to drop everything above 120Hz? by 4dB since my sub placement is absolute trash and the satellites will overpower it.
  16. Different loads draw different power, even if you're at the same utilization and clock speed. With my 2080, something like Cyberpunk will push it right up to 200w (no RT enabled), but other games might only see 170w or even 150w of power draw. Computers are weird, man.
  17. So two or three days in using the sleeper as my primary PC and honestly... Outside of the games I play all the time (Beam.NG, Skylines II, CP2077, and Ghostwire Tokyo), I honestly haven't missed my normal PC for anything... Besides music. Dear god the onboard audio this board has might be some of the worst I've ever experienced on hardware manufactured in the last 15 years.

I've also realized that thermally, this thing actually isn't bad. CPU does 4.2GHz comfortably on a black copper-slug stock cooler, and the 970... Well it's not having a fun time. It'll just sit wherever the temp limit is set. Right now its at 78C which means 78% fan speed. And I think I know why: it's so fucking big that it essentially turns the GPU and PSU into their own compartment, completely cut off from ANY airflow the case fan might be bringing through the system.

  18. Nor do little kids. When I was younger I flattened out the entire condenser a few days before my uncle showed up... during a heat wave... and he was heat-sensitive... Oops.
  19. I guess it's only "kind of" retro thanks to the case, but still. Frankly I'm not sure where it's gonna end up, I might just throw it at my TV once I get that side of things more squared away. It DESPERATELY needs a Pure Rock Slim 2, the 6700K sits at 95-100C... In TF2. At some point I'm sure I'll be able to afford it but that time is not now. Specs: Intel Core i7 6700K @ 4.2GHz, 4x8GB G.SKILL Ares 1866MHz CL10, ASUS Z170M-E D3, 128GB Team MP33, 1TB Seagate Barracuda, 320GB Samsung Spinpoint (for video capture), MSI GTX 970 100ME, EVGA 650G1, Windows 10 Pro, HP Pavilion a6137c case
  20. This defo isn't replacing my normal PC even though it currently sits where my PC resides, frankly I'm not sure where it's gonna end up. So now that I've used my sleeper PC for a while…

I think I'm essentially doing the same "undervolt" method as on my 2080. I am kind of at a premium for airflow, after all. No intakes, and my only exhausts are the PSU fan and a thermistor-controlled 92mm fan.
  22. So now that I've used my sleeper PC for a while, I'm shocked how well it's holding up while I blow its ass out installing everything. For having a 4GHz 6700K, GTX 970, and 32GB of 1866MHz C10 DDR3, it is shockingly comparable to my 4.6GHz 12600KF, RTX 2080, and 32GB of 3200C16 when I do my yearly Windows nuke.

Obviously in gaming it's not going to have fun, its a GTX 970 paired with a 1440p 170Hz monitor lol

Overclock the fuck out of that card, last time I had my 970 in a computer I got it up to 1520mhz  in 3d mark. Bios modding is a must.

  23. Nothing that would help your problem really, no. You could try increasing OBS' process priority but I'm not entirely sold on the idea of it actually being able to help you out.
  24. Really only you can answer that question. If your PC isn't capable of keeping up with what you want it to do, then it's time. If it is though, then you may as well just keep it going how it is. I know people that would love to have my system, yet I'm going insane not being able to throw my 12600KF to the curb in favor of a 7800X3D and my 2080 in favor of a 4080.
  25. Allegedly the LSI 9260-8i supports RAID 5 with no fuckery involved. Looks like a common price on eBay ranges from $30-35 USD, and some good 'ol CableMatters SAS-8087 breakout cables will run you somewhere in the neighborhood of $15 each.
