javelance reacted to RagnarokDel in Hatred: GOG refuses to sell game; Will be available 3 days early for Steam preorders.
This is like the only game I ever told myself: This should not get released.
The only point of the game is to mass murder innocents. That's different from a game like GTA which doesnt prevent you from doing it except with in game solutions aka the cops.

Yarrrrr,
This basically be what happened to me first mate.
A pirate walks into a bar and the bartender says, "Hey, I haven't seen you in a while. What happened, you look terrible!"
"What do you mean?" the pirate replies, "I'm fine."
The bartender says, "But what about that wooden leg? You didn't have that before."
"Well," says the pirate, "We were in a battle at sea and a cannon ball hit my leg but the surgeon fixed me up, and I'm fine, really."
"Yeah," says the bartender, "But what about that hook? Last time I saw you, you had both hands."
"Well," says the pirate, "We were in another battle and we boarded the enemy ship. I was in a sword fight and my hand was cut off but the surgeon fixed me up with this hook, and I feel great, really."
"Oh," says the bartender, "What about that eye patch? Last time you were in here you had both eyes."
"Well," says the pirate, "One day when we were at sea, some birds were flying over the ship. I looked up, and one of them shat in my eye."
"So?" replied the bartender, "what happened? You couldn't have lost an eye just from some bird shit!"
"Well," says the pirate, "I really wasn't used to the hook yet."

Good. We have a right to know their names, they are civil servants. Government has no right to hide information in order to save their own asses.

javelance reacted to Omon_Ra in Paris Terror Attacks
Advocating human rights abuses? Really? The fact that people think torture is okay is far more troubling to me than these random acts of violence. Resorting to brutality and torture is just as immoral as killing random people in the name of a God. And the CIA is already torturing people because of tur'ism. But you'll never see anyone in the CIA stand trial for human rights violations.
Why? As far as I know, there weren't any American victims, and it sure as hell didn't happen on American soil. This is France's problem to deal with. America could, should and probably will, provide assistance, but this is not an American problem.
You can't wipe out an ideology. You can kill people by the millions, but an idea will live on. That is the real danger. How we wipe out an ideology is still a mystery...

javelance reacted to IdortMasterRace in Looking to get a handgun for home defense... Best/most economic calibre?
Go away.
I'd love to see your house be broken into by some guy with a gun about to rob your house and shoot your family dead, while you try to defend yourself with a bat.

It isn't against the CoC at all.

javelance reacted to Imaginaerum in Are you protecting your house against burglars?
Nope you're defending your property and possibly your family. The burglar wouldn't be in that situation if he wasn't committing illegal acts in the first place and his well being is not my problem.

javelance reacted to CowsGoRoar in Issues With The LTT Community
I have issues with the LTT community. I would like to express it so that some of you may become a better contributor.
The forum has lots of threads, and it's great to get your concern solved.
But I found that I almost never get a thread solved.
Several minutes ago, I asked a question: How Much Performance Decrease From i7 to i5 for Game Streaming?
The answers were there in less than a minute. Maybe even half of that.
Because they didn't even answer my question.
The first answer was "yes the i7 would be better for streaming" (which the post was later edited to add "but an i5 would probably be good enough.")
Which still doesn't answer my question.
A month ago, I asked 2 specific questions about push/pull, and in less than a minute, I got an answer.
The answer was a link to Linus' video "Push or Pull or Push/Pull" which was almost irrelevant to my post.
The main issue that users skim the title and rush to answer the post in hopes to get likes.
I understand that your profile counts the number of likes that you have, which give you a good rep.
But I think that the whole point of the LinusTechTips forum is to be able to educate someone and help each other out.
So please, read the title and description before posting. It really helps.

javelance reacted to Trik'Stari in Need a pistol under 500$ USD
Gotta love the gun advice from people who don't own guns and don't know anything about owning guns.
If you want a gun for home defense get one if you can. Get properly trained with it, be responsible, don't become a danger to those around you that don't mean you harm.

javelance reacted to ShadowCaptain in Need a pistol under 500$ USD
Safety, reliability and ease of operation
A double action revolver is ready to fire without racking the slide, it is harder to leave one loaded as you can see the chambers clearer than an auto magazine, they are simpler to handle, and can be loaded without carrying around magazines
In a self defence scenario 6 shots should be enough to kill, scare off, or injure an attacker, you do not need to blast 100 rounds off
That said there are many pros to an automatic too, easier to fire, more comfortable and more accurate for novice shooters, faster reloading, quicker and easier trigger pull and less recoil as the slide will reduce vertical pull
But I guess for simplicity a revolver is still a great home defense weapon, an automatic is more of a combat weapon. Personally I would use a Colt Defender, the .45 is a great stopping round with low penetration, the gun is compact to carry and easy to conceal, also very reliable and easy to use

The problem with using something this ridiculously dark for stealth is that it is significantly darker than everything around it, making it effectively visible.
