whoisjaya reacted to emosun in A question that was asked several, million times...
Keyboards and mice don't put out enough data to saturate serial ports on 80s computers let alone ps2 or usb. Basically bits of data not even kilobits

whoisjaya got a reaction from kirashi in Why does my Windows volume go from 0 to 127, and not 100?
I think it could be because the app offers you 128 levels of volume (2^7), and 127 would be the maximum because 0 would also count as its own level, therefore 128-1 = 127

Sounds like an issue within the app, where there's 128 (2^7) levels of volume instead of 101 (0-100), which I guess (neither a developer nor a musician) may have to do with the fact that a lot of MIDI stuff (I believe) uses multiples of 2 (as do a lot of (digital) things) for certain variable ranges.
My MIDI controller for instance has pressure-sensitive pads that have 128 levels of pressure (0-127).

whoisjaya got a reaction from Stahlmann in €500-ish monitor for photo editing?
Thank you for you response! 😄
Of course I'm aware you have to re-calibrate your monitor every now and then, and she obviously owns a calibration device, the 32UN650-W actually looks quite good for the price, thanks a lot! 🙂

Get a 32" 4K monitor like the LG32UN650-W, which is way under budget and then also buy a calibration device like an i1Display Pro. Then calibrate it manually and the result will be better than ANY pre-calibrated "professional" monitor.
In any case, monitor color drifts over time. So one that looks great out of the box might not be as accurate a few months down the line. So if she's using it to make money, a calibration device to recalibrate is a must either way.

whoisjaya reacted to LavenderPhantom78139 in Does Asus Prime A320M-K support nvme m.2 ssd
yes an nvme would run well. your cpu supports 20 pcie lanes 4 for an m.2 nvme ssd and 16 for a gpu if you have no other pcie devices that would require bifurcation

Although I guess it depends on your CPU, too.

whoisjaya reacted to Heliian in Fans spin, no display output
Did you reseat the cpu properly? If he just pulled the old cooler off and slapped the new one on it could be loose in the socket.
-
whoisjaya reacted to bmx6454 in Fans spin, no display output
depends on how much, and where it went. alcohol does not tend to dry quickly if it spills under a component, or anywhere it isn't directly exposed to air. if alot spilled, and it may have went under something, maybe keep a fan blowing directly on the mobo overnight, then try it again.
also, spray out under everything you can on the mobo with compressed air(from a can, not a compressor).

also if the pc has water cooling in the form of an aio (all in one cooler), then you will also have to demount the radiator if you want to transfer it over

According to the specs there should be 2x 6+2 pin cables (4 cables) and 2x 4+4 pin cables. You'll have to check and see which ones break off from the main

Build 10240 is Windows 10 version 1507, which is very old (as 15/07 suggests from 2015/July).

Download media creation tool and run it. It ask you what you want to do select "Upgrade this PC now" option and it'll update your current installation to latest version (which should be build 1909).
