  1. Thanks you to everyone, these really do help a lot! I'll post an update when we get a system.
  2. Hello, To start, thanks for any help! What I Need Put it short, I'm looking for a full system for a friend at about $1500USD, not much more than $1600, to compare what he could get from either Maingear or CyberPower at about the same price. If it's a justifiable difference in performance, I would recommend that we build one, otherwise, I would have him buy a prebuilt so he has product support and something that might look cool in his bedroom. What For? He's decently knowledgeable about computers, though, he's mostly a, "I heard this is fast/the best/recommend..." kind of buyer. He'll use it for video streaming for work, not game streaming, but streaming with other programs open simultaneously, some video editing (mostly at 1080p but some 4k), remote accessing to other systems outside his network, as well as just wanting a fast computer. He'll upgrade to a 3440x1440p ultrawide after and likely have a second screen also. He doesn't really game but might start up an Esports game occasionally. He's got fast ethernet jacks and Wi-Fi so connectivity isn't a huge deal but, a Wi-Fi card would be nice if its in budget. Build Requirements Intel I7, Ryzen 7, or higher (More of a pride thing) Minimum of 16GB of DDR4 ram (preferably 3000ghz or faster) NVME Storage with min of 256GB At least a Nvidia GTX 1660 Build Nice-to-Haves Good looks (who doesn't want to display their nice computer? This friend doesn't) Decent acoustics (Under heavy load it can be louder but, at least quiet when web browsing) Expandability (PCI-E lanes, SSD/HDD spaces, RAM Slots) Mid-size tower (full size is fine but it's in a small bedroom) Air cooling or easy water cooling (he doesn't know anything about water cooling) Good Wi-Fi (low priority though) What I'm Thinking? For this build, I was thinking of a Ryzen 7, maybe a 3800x, for it's multicore performance, though, I'm sure a 3700x would be fine. A GTX 1660 super or TI graphics card to run an ultrawide and second display. 2x8GB (16GB Total) DDR4 3000mhz Ram. A Samsung 970 500GB Evo or equivalent. ~650W Power supply for upgrades later? (like additional PCI-E cards but, not a second graphics card) Hopefully this is a good amount of information (sorry if its too much!). I'm looking for full system recommendations and I can understand if I'm asking too much for the price point. Again, thanks for the help! *Let me know if this should be posted elsewhere.
  3. The camera is an APS-C sensor but I'm not quite sure what you mean by AF-C. I couldn't find anything on the camera about autofocus to turn off or adjust. I was in photo mode with live view instead of the finder; however it does the samething while in view finder mode. It's okay, I have since returned the lens because after some more research it seems that it wasn't normal. Thanks for the reply!
  4. Hello! I've very recently bought a Tokina 12-28mm F4 DX Canon mount lens for my Canon 70D. However, since I've not familiar with Tokina lenses, I'm not sure if this is suppose to happen. When the lens ring is in the autofocus position, the lens focuses normally but, when the focus ring is in the manual focus position, the lens still focuses. This means I'm fighting the focus motor while in "manual focus mode." This seems like the lens switch is damaged and isn't disconnecting the motor which, if I'm reading right, is what the manual (attached) says it should do. So, is this normal, should I return it, or am I missing a camera setting? Thanks! L0000039-manual.pdf
  5. Ah, I see. I'll go with the DT880 then, along with the modi2 and madni3. Thanks for the help and chart! Makes me feel like my purchase is a lot better then a shot in the dark.
  6. Yeah, I'm still considering them. It seemed like those would be a better all rounder I guess. Especially if family or some friends end up using them.
  7. Great! Thanks for the info. I think I might start out with the magni3 then. Get use to whatever headphones I order. I did see the reports about the sharpness, and I'm also still considering the DT880s. Seems like the DT880 is a safer bet?
  8. Hello, Thanks for help in advance! I'm still a beginner in audio and I'm currently looking at getting a pair of Beyerdynamics DT-990 Premium 600ohm headphones as I want a nice setup for music. The DT-990 looks like they have the sound that I'm looking for; wide sound stage with present bass. I'm choosing the 600ohm version because I want the clearest, even if there is diminishing returns in quality. However, after researching for a few days, I'm not sure what kind of AMP and DAC setup I want/need. I heard that some devices can run these but even if mine can, I would still like to have something to upgrade to in the future. These headphones will live only on my desk, mostly plugged into my 2017 14" Razer Blade. My laptop does produce audible noise through headphones, which seems like other blades do too.(?) I will only be using them for music as I already have my daily pair of headphones (Grado SR80E, JDL Cmoybb amp). My music taste varies widely and I probably won't be the only one to use them. My price range for a DAC and AMP is $250 (not including shipping or tax and I live in the US). I'm open to solid state, tube, or hybrid amps. They do not have to be portable or be a DAC/AMP combination. I'm also not looking for a perfect reference setup, things like amp coloring or whatever isn't too much of a concern, as long as it isn't out of control. These are what I thought could be okay to get: DACs: JDL OL Schiit Modi2 AMPs: JDL Objective2 Schiit Magni3 Schiit Vali2 So, what would you recommend AMP and DAC wise for Dt-990 600ohm? I've also heard that a hybrid amp would power the 600ohms better. Or, would you recommend other headphones? Thanks again for the help! Sorry if this posted in the wrong place or if this has been answered already. I'll be happy to modify this post however needed.
  9. Thanks guys for the help! I have switch the graphics card with a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 470 and a Corsair CS-M CS550M 550W PSU from dexxterlab97's reply. Graphics Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202226 PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139059&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
  10. Thanks guys for the great input! Though, are there any suggestions for other PSU's? My knowledge of them isn't the deepest. Thanks again!
  11. Thanks for the help, totally forgot the RX470 came out and think I'll go for that now. Don't think I'll overclock the CPU, have any suggestions for mobo then?
  12. Hello, I'm wanting to build a computer for about $1000.00 (USD) to replace a 6 year old laptop. I have picked out most of the parts that I think would give me what I want for the price point. Here are the details of what I want: Intel I7 (wanted) 16Gb of Ram (DDR4 preffered) Needs atleast 4 x USB 3.0 ports (and two on case) WIFI card is not needed 4Gb of Graphics Memory - Doing some photoshoping and CAD programs An SSD (Boot drive/large programs storage) A HHD (about 1Tb, don't need more than that) Case will lay flat, want a SD card reader, more quiet than showy This computer will be used for: a lot of chrome tabs (upto about 50 at a time), Photoshop and CAD Programs (solidworks) will be ran a couple times a week. I want the computer to be able to run overnight without being to loud as it will be in my bedroom while keeping some chrome tabs open. I also want the computer to last for many years without needing any upgrades. Here is what I have found on my own research: CPU - Intel I7-6700 Skylake http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117560&ignorebbr=1 Mother Board - ASRock Z170 Pro4s http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157636&ignorebbr=1 RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws V series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231884&ignorebbr=1 Graphics Card - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 4GB Windforce 2x OC Edition http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125778&ignorebbr=1 Storage SSD - Samsung 850 evo 250GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147372&ignorebbr=1 Storage HHD - WD Black 1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236625&ignorebbr=1 Power Supply - EVGA 500 W1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438016&ignorebbr=1 Case - Fractal Design Node 605 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352028&ignorebbr=1 So I made this post to ask if these components are compatable together or if there are any other parts that might be better then what I have found. Not all the parts need to be bought from Newegg, its just what I looked at.
  13. Got some $30 earbuds, TTEsport brown switch keyboard, a Mazer mouse and logitech 100w speakers.
  14. That thing would be really awesome if it was used with a drone or FPV setup in events or something, haha.
