  1. I used Ubuntu for 2 years as my daily driver for school and work. I love the terminal and when I learned some commands it made my live so much easier and faster. But it has it's drawbacks like every other OS.
  2. By colonel_mortis from this thread: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/261916-search-bar/
  3. It's just to suppress the warning of the ServerName issue. But I think you need to look at your server configuration, there is a good chance that when you restart your server, the problem will come back. It's not that difficult to add another virtualhost, I would follow this guide.
  4. You probably need to add ServerName put_servername_here to your /etc/apache2/apache2.conf file
  5. Sure, but when this law passes, it's even easier to track your movement around the internet
  6. When I read the title it sounded like a good idea, it's easier to deploy your own server with your own static ip, you don't have to get a expensive deal with your isp. But if they're gonna abuse it and identify you on the internet through your ip-adres as a personal number, than it's a bad idea.
  7. I've not yet encountered anything Linus related in my country, but I'll keep searching
  8. Nice case, probably going to use it for my storage server build. The only thing I don't like is the sidepanel with the fan hole, I think it would have looked better as a clean side panel. And not the solution they've now with the cover in front of the fan hole.
  9. Windows cannot read or write to a Mac formatted drive. The best thing you can do is either hook the drive up to another Mac or boot a Linux live environment and try to get Linux working with Mac drives.
  10. 4 years ago when I was planning my new PC builds and I was looking for videos of the parts on YouTube. Linus had most of the parts on video in his old unboxing style videos.
  11. I would go with android, because you already have Java experience. Besides that if you have an android device, you can easily test your app. With iOS you have to register for a developer account, which cost 99 dollars a year I believe, to test your app on your device. If you eventually want your app in a store. It's easier to get your app in the Google Play Store than the App Store. You only have to register for a developer account with Google and you have to pay 25 dollars. It's more difficult to get your app in the App Store, because Apple is going to test your app according to their guidelines and if it failes, your app gets rejected and you need to fix the bugs. As far as books or courses, I would start with the documentation of the chosen platform and just googling and looking up tutorials.
  12. Impressive, when I was five I could barely read or write. We need to support these kids who are interested in computers or tech, because schools still don't teach younger children programming or computer sciences
