  1. they are all perfectly plugged in, MB to MB Sata to sata etc... and there are no standoffs that are incorrectly placed/ screws loose
  2. ill come back with a reply 100% checking that everything is plugged in as it should me (photos potentially)
  3. It is 100% plugged in to the correctly labelled sections in the PSU
  4. All the standoffs are in the correct places and screws in correctly, i will attempt what zmeul suggested
  5. haha already killed a 3tb, 1tb, and 500gb so just literally finding drives, but yes i will remove them from the case to see if there is any shorting occuring.
  6. This is what we originally thought as well, however have tried a a different power supply, and cable in the same machine and it fries it with both alterations. However the old PSU in a different computer runs it fine? thats why i deduced that in all possibilities i tried all combinations of power delivery methods, and it still fries it.
  7. This is a fantastic suggestion, bare with me i will check
  8. Hey guys, i have previously posted with no replied, so - Here is video evidence that the motherboard is frying my hard drives. I am looking for advice as to what the solution or problem could be I have tried different SATA cables, different PSU and different SATA power supply cables and this still happens, i would love any other suggestions, basically the only thing i havent changed is the mobo. All the drives that broke were previously tested on a different machine and WORK before connecting to my mobo My mobo, ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger. Hered the link to the video: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B_pDWa0km8opOXpfd3FqMVI3SkE?usp=sharing (PHOTO 1 - thats showing the flash/spark when the computer is turned on) (PHOTO 2 - thats showing where the circuit board fried on the hdd)
  9. Apologies, wanted to know where this is best suited to be posted.
  10. but it worked with the 850 evo? which is the second of the 3 different drives ive had in there
  11. Whats going on guys, short and snappy - My motherboard is a Asus Maximus VIII Formula. Simply, i have had two HDD's/SSD's break inside the space of a week whilst using this motherboard. I would really like any help/troubleshooting tips, ideas, knowledge GOD DAMN IT LINUS HELP ME! Okay, scenario 1) 500Gb sandisk II SSD installed, all working fine for about a week then suddenly caput, nothing - nothing in disk management, nothing in bios etc etc. thats gone back to sandisk for them to replace under warranty. No - This SSD did not work/picked up on any other system, i tried two friends systems and was not detected. MEANWHILE: a friend lent me his samsung evo 850 250gb... this worked fine for 2 weeks and is still working fine as i come onto scenario 2 (no im not keeping/ buying his hdd) Scenario 2) took the 3TB hdd from a working system and took the same working system PSU. New PSU installed (thought this may be the issue) all plugged in fine and nothing no spinning from my 3TB HDD which was working before. i cannot feel the platters spinning (no power maybe? mobo fried it?) so, moved it to my system and ASUS mobo and instantly no response from the HDD. Again, no - plugged it into friends systems and nothing. also - cannot feel the HDD spinning also - plugged it back into the original system, with a new psu to see if the old mobo etc would revive it for whatever reason and no - nothing at this point i also now have a 500gb m.2 ssd installed in my system and its working absolutely fine started up first time etc. Just to let you know i have tried it in different ports, and different cables etc. please help me i do not want to keep shelling out ££$$ for hdd's for them to be sub sequentially shot - any ideas on bios? any ideas on psu? any ideas on mobo? is it even possible for the sata port to fry a hdd/ssd? Cheers guys - a lost man.
  12. Nice sleek form factor, and the fact it only needs to be 4" off the wall is insane, could definitely see many many useful ways to use it in day to day life! Huge fan of this, and huge fan of LG products. Cheers guys
