  1. Finally pulled the trigger on an upgrade 2018 Audi A5 Sportback 2.0 TDI quattro Whaddya think?
  2. If something got hot enough for you to get burnt then you've got a serious problem on the mobo. Caps don't take kindly to temps much over 100 C. Must be a short somewhere on the power lines. Check your standoffs or back of the motherboard?
  3. It's a bit wonky and takes a bit of tinkering, but foobar2000 has an extension that connects it to an Android-side app: http://foobar2000controller.blogspot.si/p/how-to-start.html https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cav.foobar2000controller&hl=en
  4. Always check CPU compatibility of your motherboard when upgrading.
  5. I guess marijuana is fine then
  6. But is it made out of people?
  7. Who doesn't love themselves some coffee?
  8. The Hakko is a fine choice, but so is Ersa - I use their i-CON PICO and I'm very happy with it - it gets hot fast and can be well regulated. It cost me about 100 €. You want something really good, buy Weller, most professionals use their stuff, but expect a premium price. This is one of their top tier products, and costs over 600 €.
  9. First of all, I wasn't justifying anything. Second, I very much disagree with your "boring" assessment, and let's leave it at that.
  10. Wow. So you don't want 6 cores for the price of 4? OK, fine. But I do. Maybe Intel really was sandbagging because the competition was non-existent. Ryzen gave Intel the much-needed kick in the butt. If I were a zealot I'd be calling Ryzen useless or something. However, if you insist on calling people names because they disagree with you I've got a gem for you: Zealot much?
  11. Well, um, you know, that's um, like, hard.
  12. Did you check what XDA Developers has for that device? Example: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-lineageos-14-1-vernee-mars-t3609635
  13. I say no; crumbs get into your keyboard and on the floor. I do sometimes do it, but I'm always sorry afterwards. Not to mention my glass table gets dirty fast enough already.
  14. @Majestic Boring. Much LOL. Seriously, this is pretty much the best single launch of something Intel since Sandy Bridge. Ivy, Haswell, (Should I even count Broadwell?) Skylake, Kaby Lake... all same old, same old, say 5% IPC improvement and perhaps somewhat higher clocks by say 100 MHz each gen. So you need a new motherboard... cry me a river. When was the last time Intel supported the same chipset for more than 2 generations? Is that a shit thing to do? Yes. Is it unexpected? No. Shitty TIM? Nothing new. However, 6 cores for same $$$ as 4 in Kaby Lake? YES PLEASE.
  15. In my experience, eBay is fine. Your insurance are PayPal refunds. I am yet to encounter real scams; but keep in mind cheap Made in China crap is still crap. Just don't let sellers pressure you into using anything else but PayPal, though.
  16. Hmmm... an option would be to build an antenna mast and get line of sight that way. Although I have to concur that VPN would probably be preferable if you are trying to establish a LAN between those two sites.
  17. This forum has about 440000 members, the channel has almost 5 million viewers. Imagine Linus gave out his phone number, he'd be swamped by calls constantly. That is not going to happen. If you're lucky, he might see your post and reply (as if). This forum does however have experienced system builders, that post their projects here and some might be able to give their insight. The Youtube channel has this email posted: LinusTechTips@gmail.com Maybe you might be able to reach them through that.
  18. Seriously, 2.4 GHz gets rekt by atmospheric effects very quickly. A better bet would be to use several access points connected with cables. Linus did have a long range wifi connection on test, but that was a directional antenna IIRC.
  19. I bought my X58 when they first came out - december 2008. Not so long ago upgraded the 920 to the 6 core goodnes of X5660.
  20. If you plan to stream a lot, I'd say Ryzen is great value. Ryzen does great in multi-threaded loads, but still gets beat by Intel i7's in gaming. Your call.
  21. 35$ for "4K"... must be one of those that records in 480p and then just upscales the footage.
