AngelOfBodom got a reaction from Lurick in Router vs Extender for WIRED connection?
Thank you~ I figured and knew this but I guess my only stipulation is that the only realistic solution to get the results I want is to drill a hole passthrough for a cable/switch.. and we're in an apartment with a toddler that loves to pull on stuff. Wireless is 100% not an issue aside from configuring everything correctly. It's just getting something wired/close to wired in a different room.

AngelOfBodom reacted to Needfuldoer in Router vs Extender for WIRED connection?
Ethernet runs can be up to 100 meters (300 feet) between active devices.
Don't introduce more routers unless you absolutely have to, or you need an additional wireless access point to cover the entire house. A regular wired gigabit switch will extend long wired connections just fine.

AngelOfBodom reacted to Astyanax in Windows 11 Insider Installation Fail
You will need to work your way through c:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setupact.log to find culprits, MySql, Intel Support Assistant and PowerDVD are among some applications reported to block the upgrade.
c:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log is an attempt to cut down on the mass of information, but it is often non-conclusive as to where the failure occured.
Using msconfig to set diagnostic startup is usually enough to get past this issue, because it involves third party services being started up during the OOBE migration phase, it has literally nothing to do with device drivers as those were already migrated during First Boot migration phase.

AngelOfBodom reacted to Donut417 in Coax to Modem: splitter v extender?
A two way splitter cuts your signal by half. If you’re looking to extend the coax, eaither get a longer cable or use a barrel connector to connect a cable to that making it longer. Under NO circumstances should a splitter be used if your not actually trying to hook up other devices to it. When you leave a port open on a splitter you can push interference in to the cable network. This interference not only can cause issues for you, but for your neighbors. Which is why you buy a splitter with the correct amount of connectors or make sure you use a terminator on unused ports. Like I said earlier spitters will reduce signal strength. Cable modems need the best possible signal, so you don’t want to use more than a two way splitter and you never want more than one splitter between the main line and modem.

AngelOfBodom reacted to circeseye in HDMI to TOSLINK
a hdmi to tos will sound the same as what you have. tos is just basic surround (dolby, dts) max. so no matter what, tos will not get you anything better. you would be better off with something that takes hdmi in. now if the bar "sounds" better then the logitechs well then there you go
this is the best explanation
The types of digital audio signals that can be transferred by a digital optical connection include two-channel stereo PCM, Dolby Digital/Dolby Digital EX, DTS Digital Surround, and DTS ES.
Digital audio signals, such as 5.1/7.1 multi-channel PCM, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS:X, and Auro 3D Audio cannot be transferred via Digital Optical connections. These types of audio signal formats require the use of HDMI connections.

AngelOfBodom reacted to ikoNbrah in Gigabyte G1 980ti & Corsair H55
Just want to confirm for anyone coming across this page from google. I just installed a Kraken G12 to my Gigabyte 980ti G1 with a Corsair H55 cooler without issue. It is totally compatible. ~30°C in OS, ~65°C gaming under 100% load (ARK).

AngelOfBodom reacted to WereCat in 6700k Woes
I upgraded from i7 4770k 4.6GHz to R9 3900X.
Also using 1080ti and 1440p 165Hz.
Big difference in every game.
The 4770k could still push me above 100FPS in almost every game and it was definitely still a capable CPU for gaming but it just can't hold candle to the 3900X. Minimum FPS have improved significantly and the gaming experience is much more smoother / fluid
The i7 struggled in some games and I've seen 100% CPU usage in games like Apex Legends or BF1 and BF5 while the GPU maxed out at around 70% to 80% on 1440p.

Clock speed is 1 factor if they are at similar IPC, but AMD is ahead now even for the 9 series, and definitely ahead over the 6 series.

AngelOfBodom reacted to DailyProcrastinator in 6700k Woes
i7-6700k is still good for gaming but in multi-core workloads it's no 3600. I still have mine but it moved into the family computer so it's gaming days are over.
Up to you really if it's time to upgrade. Frequency is still big for gaming, so the 6700k might have the 3600 beat there.

AngelOfBodom reacted to Soundcrankaudio in Best cable to output audio?
It wouldn't do much of a difference I don't think.
Personally, I am an audiophile, so maybe my opinion should be taken with a pinch of salt, but define "budget". There are some fantastic surround kits these days, but at the price people are charging for good ones... You're probably better off with a mid range Hi Fi that supports Dolby Atmos

AngelOfBodom reacted to Turtle Rig in Philips 242G5DJEB 144hz Issue
You need to go DP 1.4 to DP 1.4 instead of a DVI conversion. Possibly you might need 2 DP connection but I highly doubt that since your resolution is not 4k and what not.

AngelOfBodom reacted to ddennis002 in Decent 1080ti OC?
Looks pretty good, you can definitely get a lot more than 100Mhz on the memory probably closer to 400-600Mhz just depends, your best bet is to find the limits of your card.
OC the core as high as it will go without crashing leaving everything else stock. Run FurMark Stress Test for about 5 mins if you crash just keep backing it down till you no longer crash at 5 mins, then run a 30 min test.
Once done do the same for your memory.
This will give you the limits of your card and you can set your OC to what you fill comfortable with.

Another problem is that Chrome OS relies on internet access for it to really have any function since most things would be in the chrome browser. So of course this would go against the fact that you wanted it to not have internet access

Depends on the program, it's definitely possible that in some case the video file gets recorded to one directory and the audio file gets recorded to another.

AngelOfBodom reacted to MedievalMatt in Claw Grip Mouse Recommendations?
Mice are one of those things you really should put your hands on before committing. Find a store like Best Buy or Microcenter that will have a bunch on display and feel them out.
If you know what rough shape works better for you then its a matter of researching until you find one you like.
I know thats a non-answer, but its the right one IMO.

AngelOfBodom reacted to AngryBeaver in Decent TV for gaming?
To clarify on a few things.
The latency is never going to be as good as a monitor. So that Is going to be a downside.. some tv's in game mode can get under 10ms, but most don't.
When he mentions refresh rate he means true refresh rate which isn't often published. Most of the time you see 240/480/960hz refresh on the specs or advertisement material, but these panels are actually 60 or sometimes 120hz. The other number is the technology they use to insert images to make the picture look smoother and reduce motion blur, but it isn't a image coming from your source (fake). Plus that technology is disabled the moment you turn on game mode which drops you to 60/120hz whichever is the true refresh of the TV.
