  1. I just go off the phone with L2 Seagate support and the agent said it was their last day at Seagate is tomorrow. This was because "Seagate is shutting down the entire department of L1 and L2 agents". Now this could just be over the phone support. However, the agents did not know. They also did not know what is coming up next for support. They did mention that something new is happening on Monday. Since they weren't able to resolve my issue I'll be reaching out on Monday and seeing what response. Unless I'm able to go through a partner route I'll report back as an informal secrets shopper. If you think I should switch away from Seagate Enterprise drives for Synology disc stations recommendations are welcome.
  2. HELLO! I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for file transform and directory comparison programs. Right now we are using FileZilla and we might pay for Beyond Compare. I am in the process of migrating over a lot of NAS and we have found FileZilla's comparison is missing files. Between the day I shipped the new one out and we install it files get creating in all sorts of directories that FileZilla does not find. Luckily the offsite backups have the files but it would be nice if the on-site had them them as well without having to transfer them back. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
  3. I would also say go Nvidia. The nvenc encoder is so nice when editing. Is there a reason why you picked such an expensive motherboard? If it's got the feature set that you need go for it. I just think that money could be better spent somewhere else. Because power supplies I always have a 10-year warranty I would go with something gold or higher.
  4. Budget (including currency): $3000 USD Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: PLEX, Discord CraigBot, NAS i7-11700K or i5-11600K (intel for quick sync for PLEX) ASUS TUF Gaming Z590-Plus (for 6x SATA and 2.5 Gb Ethernet) G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DR4 3200 (Good price and not bad specs) 2x Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD, up to 560 MB/s - CT500MX500SSD1 (Good price?) Seasonic FOCUS PX-550, 550W 80+ Platinum Full-Modular (Is this enough power for plus 12 16TB hard drives?) Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler, 4 CDC Heatpipes (Good price and not) Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2 Full Tower 4x (8 more later) Seagate Exos 16TB Enterprise HDD X18, Are Exos drives better than WD red or ironwolf Pro? Right now they're cheaper for the same listed specs. My plan is to buy for hard drives now and raid them using my motherboard raid controller. Then in the future if I need more storage buy a raid card and add additional drives. I'm planning on using Windows 10 pro as the OS that runs everything. I've administered multiple windows servers but never anything else. The cost of the windows key isn't a problem I have tons of Windows 7 pro keys. However, should I try something else I want to be able to run random VM's or containers for random things like a CraigBot server or Minecraft. I currently have 4 Bay WD NAS that's gonna turn into my non Plex content offsite server. Any assistance or advice is greatly appreciated as I don't know what I don't know. Thank you!
  5. Hello everyone, I have a laptop with a broken hinge. As a fun project and to make PC usable again I am making it into an all-in-one. A problem that I am having is how to cool it. The cooling solution that came with the laptop was severely insufficient. I was thinking water cooling. However, how would I power the pump. I was thinking sense my laptop came with a Leap Motion built in. The Leap Motion looks and seems like it was connected via an internal USB cable. Could I run a pump off of this? Does anyone have any ideas? This is the first time I've ever endeavored on a project like this so any ideas are greatly appreciated.
  6. The PF1000U projector seems like an awesome projector. I can never find a good projector in a small package.
